Using a similar Anelloviridae approach but with recovery of complete genomes by PCR, we identified a diverse group of single-stranded vi Genomoviridae ruses in yellow-bellied marmot (Marmota flaviventer) fecal samples. From 13 fecal samples we identified viruses Cressdnaviricota in the family Genomoviridae (n = 7) and Anelloviridae (n = 1), and several others that ware part of the larger Cressdnaviricota phylum but not within established families (n = 19). There were also circular DNA molecules identified (n = 4) that appear to encode one viral-like gene and have genomes of <1545 nts. This study gives a snapshot of viruses associated with marmots based on fecal sampling. -

They are omnivores and live in troops of up to 40 individuals. The oral cavity is one of the main entry routes for microorganisms, including viruses. Our study proposed the identification of viral sequences from oral swabs collected in a group of capuchin monkeys (n = 5) living in a public park in a fragment of Mata Atlantica in South Brazil. Samples were submitted to nucleic acid extraction and enrichment, which was followed by the construction of libraries. After high-throughput sequencing and contig assembly, we used a pipeline to identify 11 viral families, which are Herpesviridae, Parvoviridae, Papillomaviridae, Polyomaviridae, Caulimoviridae, Iridoviridae, Astroviridae, Poxviridae,andBaculoviridae, in addition to two complete viral genomes of Anelloviridae and Genomoviridae. Some of these viruses were closely related to known viruses, while other fragments are more distantly related, with 50% of identity or less to the currently available virus sequences in databases. In addition to host-related viruses, insect and small vertebrate-related viruses were also found, as well as plant-related viruses, bringing insights about their diet. -

A list of the Odonata of Honduras Sidney W. Dunkle* SUMMARY. The 147 species of dragonflies and damsel- fliesknownfrom Honduras are usted, along with their distribution by political department. Of these records, 54 are new for Honduras, including 9 which extend known ranges of species northward or southward. RESUMEN. Las 147 especies de libélulas conocidas en Honduras son mencionados junto con su distribución por depar- tamento. De esta cifra, 54 especies son nuevas en Honduras. Nueve especies han ampliado sus límites geográficos llegando a este país por el sur y por el norte. Very little has been written about the Odonata of Hondu- ras. Williamson (1905) gave some notes on collecting in Cortes De- partment, mostly near San Pedro Sula, but did not ñame the species taken. Williamson (1923b) briefly discussed the habitat of 4 species of Hetaerina collected near San Pedro Sula. Paulson (1982) in his table of Odonata occurrences in Central American countrieslisted 94 species íromHondur as. ArgiadifficilisSe\y$ has been deleted from the Honduran list because it is thought not to occur in Central America, and was confused with A. oculata Hagen (R. W. Garrison, pers. comm.). The list below includes 54 more species for a total of 147. Of the new records, 5 extend the known ranges of species southward and 4 extend ranges northward. Paulson (1982) listed 54 other species which occur both north and south of Honuras, and therefore can be expected in that country. To date, most studies of DNA viruses have focused on those with the strongest disease associations. Accordingly, there has been a marked lack of sampling of DNA viruses from invertebrates. Bulk RNA sequencing has resulted in the discovery of a myriad of novel RNA viruses, and herein we used this methodology to identify actively transcribing DNA viruses in meta-transcriptomic libraries of diverse invertebrate species. Our analysis revealed high levels of phylogenetic diversity in DNA viruses, including 13 species from the Parvoviridae, Circoviridae, and Genomoviridae families of single-stranded DNA virus families, and six double-stranded DNA virus species from the Nudiviridae, Polyomaviridae, and Herpesviridae, for which few invertebrate viruses have been identified to date. -

These wild herbivores are commonly found near water bodies and are well adapted to rural and urban areas. There is limited information on the viruses circulating through capybaras. This study aimed to expand the knowledge on the viral diversity associated with capybaras by sampling their faeces. Using a viral metagenomics approach, we identified diverse single-stranded DNA viruses in the capybara faeces sampled in the Distrito Federal, Brazil. A total of 148 complete genomes of viruses in the Microviridae family were identified. In addition, 14 genomoviruses (family Genomoviridae), a novel cyclovirus (family Circoviridae), and a smacovirus (family Smacoviridae) were identified. Also, 37 diverse viruses that cannot be assigned to known families and more broadly referred to as unclassified circular replication associated protein encoding single-stranded (CRESS) DNA viruses were identified. -
