After the National Board of Directors was organized and the nationwide expansion plan was actively developed in the KASF, interest in the scholarship enterprise was heightened in Southern region around Atlanta. Several organizations including the Korean American Association discussed the idea, decided to embark as a regional chapter of the Korean American Scholarship Foundation, and gathered supporting people. Through the regular and extra board meetings repeatedly held to build friendship between directors and for the advancement of the Foundation, the Southern Region was getting in good shape and the officers took charge of practical business matters. The meetings were usually held at Shallowford Lodge, operated by Director Min Boo

The 1992 scholarship award banquet was held at Hyatt Atlanta Airport on August 1 with over 100 guests. Ten students were each awarded $1,000 scholarships. A fundraising concert featuring the world famous pianist Bang Sil Ahn, daughter of Director Choon Wan Ahn, was held at the Auditorium of Atlanta Historical Society on April 8, 1993. $5,000 was raised thanks to over 500 people attending the concert as well as the effort of Mr. and Mrs. Choon Wan Ahn. As a result, the board decided to establish the Bang Sil Ahn Chair Scholarship to thank them for their services.

The 3rd annual scholarship award and banquet was held at Hyatt Regency Atlanta on August 14 with over 150 guests and scholarship recipients. A total 1993 scholarship awardees of 16 scholarships were awarded and $4,000 was raised through the banquet. The Mun Chul Han Chul Han, the brother-in-law of Director Moo Hee Scholarship was established in memory of Dr. Mun Lee. Soo Kyung Song was a promising, local pianist who graduated from Oberlin Music School. nd The 2 annual fundraising concert featured pianist Dorothy and Kerry Louis, professors of Georgia Soo Kyung Song and was held at Unitarian Church University performed with Ms. Song as well. The 4th annual scholarship award and banquet was held at Hyatt Regency Atlanta on August 6 with over 150 guests in attendance. 17 students were awarded $1,000 each and a new Chair Scholarship for theology was established by Shin Jung Presbyterian church.

The board member’s family retreat was held from Mr.& Mrs. Sun Hee Kim November 12-13 at Sky Valley Resorts to build not Dr.& Mrs. Ye-Soon Kim only friendship amongst them, but also to develop Dr.& Mrs. Yong Kun Kim long range plans for the foundation. Eight families Mr.& Mrs. Chul Hong Kim totaling 22 people ate and slept together while Mr.& Mrs. Tae Ho Kim reviewing past events of the foundation and setting Dr.& Mrs. Moo Hee Lee future goals and plans. Kim, a prominent professor of Boston Conservatory, captivated the 500 people in attendance with his performance with the violin and the concert raised $11,700.

The 5th annual scholarship award and banquet was held on August 19, 1995 at the Atlanta Marriot Perimeter Center. Over 160 guests and recipients enjoyed a festive evening in which 21 college students were each awarded $1,000 scholarships and 7 high school students each received $200 1995 scholarship awardees achievement awards. The annual board member’s family retreat was again held at Sky Valley from Oct. 20 to Oct. 22 and was enjoyed by 29 people.

The fourth annual fundraising concert was held at Clayton County School Performing Arts Center on March 10 and raised over $10,000. Soprano Taewon Yi, who was appearing in Broadway musical “The King and I,” and blind pianist Grace 1996 scolarship award ceremony Oh, a doctoral student in Boston Conservatory, enchanted an audience of over 400. Dr. Ye-Soon Kim was elected as a successor to President Yong Kun Kim, who had worked hard for 6 years, at the board meeting held on December 20, 1996. The officers were approved at the next meeting held on January 7, 1998, as was the budget and action plan for the year. Many young people including Cheol S. Eun, Jin Wan Cho, Charles Kim, David Kim, and Joseph Kim, joined as directors with the new President.

The fifth annual fundraising concert featuring two promising, young Korea-American musicians, 17- year old pianist Jeni Kim and 10-year old violinist Kristin Lee, was held at the Clayton County School Performing Arts Center on March 1. Over 500 music lovers and supporters attended the concert and $10,000 of net income was generated. 1997 scholarship award ceremony

The scholarship award and banquet was held at President Yong Kun Kim, Mr. Kwang Hyun Kim, Atlanta Marriot perimeter Center on August 9 with who donated new scholarship, and Rev. The National Board of Directors held its meeting at the Atlanta Marriot Perimeter Center the day after the awards ceremony. Three directors from the Eastern Region, four from the Western Region, three from the Southern Region, and two from the Midwestern Region participated and many of the directors of Southern Region observed. Dr. Yong Kun Kim was elected as the next chairperson of the National Board at that meeting.

The 9th annual fundraising concert was held on April 21 at Clayton County Schools Performing Art Center. This concert was unique in that all of the musicians featured were from the Atlanta Metropolitan area. The concert was separated into two parts, an Opera Gala and Korean Folk Songs.

The 11th annual scholarship award and banquet was held at Atlanta Marriot Perimeter Center on August 4. The scholarships were awarded to American musicians active in Atlanta area. The 35 college students and 4 high school students. keynote speech was delivered by Mr. Andrew Ree, The attendees were entertained by the Peach Attorney at Law. The Dr. & Mrs. Yong Kun Kim Chair Prime Orchestra which consisted of many Korean Scholarship was established.
