Several organizations including the Korean American Association discussed the idea, decided to embark as a regional chapter of the Korean American Scholarship Foundation, and gathered supporting people. The meetings were usually held at Shallowford Lodge, operated by Director Min Boo 1992 Scholarship award ceremony Kim, in front of where a sign of the KASF Southern Region stood. The 1992 scholarship award banquet was held at Hyatt Atlanta Airport on August 1 with over 100 guests. Ten students were each awarded $1,000 scholarships. The next day the National Board held a meeting at the hotel to discuss issues and to decide the future direction of the Foundation. Internat’l U Ho, Jin Baek U Miami Park, Jun Ho GA Tech Kim, Yoo Kyung Duke U Min, Kyung Shik U Miami Kim, Jin Hee Emory U 1993 A fundraising concert featuring the world famous pianist Bang Sil Ahn, daughter of Director Choon Wan Ahn, was held at the Auditorium of Atlanta Historical Society on April 8, 1993. $5,000 was raised thanks to over 500 people attending the concert as well as the effort of Mr. and Mrs. Choon Wan Ahn. As a result, the board decided to establish the Bang Sil Ahn Chair Scholarship to thank them for their services. The 3rd annual scholarship award and banquet was held at Hyatt Regency Atlanta on August 14 with over 150 guests and scholarship recipients. A total 1993 scholarship awardees of 16 scholarships were awarded and $4,000 was raised through the banquet. The Mun Chul Han Chul Han, the brother-in-law of Director Moo Hee Scholarship was established in memory of Dr. Mun Lee. Soo Kyung Song was a promising, local pianist who graduated from Oberlin Music School. nd The 2 annual fundraising concert featured pianist Dorothy and Kerry Louis, professors of Georgia Soo Kyung Song and was held at Unitarian Church University performed with Ms. Song as well. Eight families Mr.& Mrs. Chul Hong Kim totaling 22 people ate and slept together while Mr.& Mrs. Tae Ho Kim reviewing past events of the foundation and setting Dr.& Mrs. Moo Hee Lee future goals and plans. The 5th annual scholarship award and banquet was held on August 19, 1995 at the Atlanta Marriot Perimeter Center. Over 160 guests and recipients enjoyed a festive evening in which 21 college students were each awarded $1,000 scholarships and 7 high school students each received $200 1995 scholarship awardees achievement awards.
