World Squash Champion Sarah Fitz-Gerald Coaches at HKFC

Sarah Fitz-Gerald a 5 time World Squash Champion and Commonwealth Games Gold Medalist as well as an Honorary Member of HKFC attended the Club on Wednesday 26th August to give World Class coaching to our members. Sarah took our players through quality coaching sessions in both private 1 on 1 coaching and in two clinics. The feedback from the players was excellent. With Edward Griffiths commenting, ‘Having seen her play and win at the Commonwealth Games in 2002, it was fantastic to actually get on court with her. She covered an amazing amount in an hour and she quickly identified a few issues upon which to work - she had a great knack of providing easily memorable messages to assist technique: most memorable has to be to think of my racquet as a glass of beer on the backswing and not to spill a drop, very potent message! Great fun!’ There may well be further squash greats past and present gracing the HKFC squash courts in the upcoming months.

Hong Kong Closed Squash Championships Through the summer as most of the Squash Section was taking a well-earned break many of the HKFC squash team were competing in the Hong Kong closed squash championships. The event was played at the HK Squash Centre where a lot of the Football Club squash players attended and did very well. Swimming and Triathlon News

Message from the Swimming and Triathlon Captain Over the past two months, the Hong Kong Football Club has been competing in the Revolution Asia Summer Swim Series. This is a team event, consisting of three open ocean swim races, on the south side of the island. HKFC went into this race as the defending champions. As one of our premier events of the season, the team put a lot of focus into preparing for this race. All of our athletes, both junior and senior, have been doing an incredible job so far. Sean Whipkey, The podium has been full of blue Swimming and Triathlon Captain and white! At the time of writing, we are two thirds of the way through the series, and are at the top of the pack. With some strong results at the third race, we hope to bring home a repeat championship! Best of luck to all competing.

Aquawiz Aquathlon Open Water Swim Turbo (3000m), Open Water Swim (Pak Shek Kok on 23rd August, 2015) (1500m). However, for some of our keener athletes, one race just wasn’t enough! A particular special mention and congratulations to Sally Gentle who is back in the game after returning from having little baby Jack. She placed 2nd in her age category in the Aquathlon Turbo, and straight after amazingly placed 2nd in the Swim Turbo (3000m) Race. She is feeling strong, and is definitely one to watch out for over the next coming months! Well done Sally, a fantastic achievement! It was a fabulous day and everyone performed very well with a few podium finishes in the bag. We are competing well and we look forward to many more achievements ahead!

Congratulations to all those who took part in the AQUAWZ Aquathlon. HKFC was represented by a team of strong competitors on this glorious day at Shatin Science Park. More podium finishes for our HKFC members Craig Nortje, Richard Hall, Sally Gentle, Amanda Adriano, Susan Lowrey, Samantha Morton, Debbie Hanley and Vasco Van Der Flier.
