1984-2005 Hakemisto TEOLOGINEN AIKAKAUSKIRJA TEOLOGISK TIDSKRIFT Hakemisto Register 1984–2005 Vuosikerrat Årgångarna 89–110 Laatinut – Redigerat av Minna Ahokas Alkusana Teologisella Aikakauskirjalla on ilo lähettää tilaajilleen uusi, vuosikerrat 89–110 ja vuodet 984– 005 käsittävä hakemisto. Näiden kahdenkymmenenkahden vuoden aikana lehti on julkaissut yhteensä 487 kirjoitusta, joista 990 Kirjoituksia/Uppsatser-osastossa, 458 Katsauksia ja keskus- telua / Överblick och diskussion (aik. Ajan varrelta / Ur samtiden) -osastossa ja 79 Kirjallisuutta/ Litteratur-osastossa. Sivuja näihin vuosikertoihin mahtuu 874. Teologisen Aikakauskirjan edellinen hakemisto julkaistiin vuonna 985. Hakemiston käyttäjä huomannee pian, mi- ten lehden Teologinen Aikakauskirja on heijastanut akateemisen maailman mullistuksia. Uusi hakemisto on kolmiosainen. Viimeksi kuluneen neljännesvuosisadan aikana Teologinen Aikakauskirja on muuttunut pää- toimittajan yksin ylläpitämästä lehdestä viiden (väliin kuudenkin) hengen toimitustiimin tuot- tamaksi julkaisuksi. Lehden ulkoasua uusittiin ensimmäisen kerran radikaalisti vuonna 984 ja uudelleen vuosina 994 ja 998. Koneella ja jopa kynällä kirjoitettujen käsikirjoitusten latominen kirjapainossa on vaihtunut vähitellen täysin sähköiseen aineistonkäsittelyyn. Lehti on taitettu toi- mituksessa 990-luvun lopulta lähtien. Teologinen Aikakauskirja on tieteellistä arviointikäytäntöä noudattava julkaisu. Lausun lämpimät kiitokset hakemiston laatijalle, teol. maist. Minna Ahokkaalle, ripeästä ja huolel- lisesta työstä. Hakemiston tekoon on saatu taloudellista tukea Suomen Akatemialta. Museum Collections Make Connections: Finland and Namibia Dr Jeremy Silvester, Charmaine Tjizezenga, Magdalena Kaanante Summary. This report provides an overview of the findings and recommendations of a Namibian team that visited Finland from 6th-16th June, 2015. The team consisted of Dr Jeremy Silvester (Project Development Manager) and Ms Charmaine Tjizezenga (Project Officer: Exhibition Development) from the Museums Association of Namibia and Mrs Magdalena Kaanante (Curator: Nakambale Museum). The trip was one of the activities funded by the Embassy of Finland in Namibia to support `Exhibition Development in Namibian Museums’. The primary purpose of the trip was, therefore, to explore possibilities and potential partnerships for future exhibition exchanges and initiate dialogue and knowledge transfer to support exhibition development in both Namibia and Finland. • Connection and History Between Finland and Oniipa
CONNECTION AND HISTORY BETWEEN FINLAND AND ONIIPA Finland and Namibia have enjoyed a good lasting relationship. Recently in the year 2019, the Embassy of Finland in Namibia hosted a remarkable celebration to mark 150 years of Finland and Namibia friendship. However, the notable connection between Finland and Namibia with Oniipa in particular, started through missionary work. ARRIVAL OF MISSIONARIES IN NAMIBIA The first group of missionaries, among them Martti Rautanen, nicknamed Nakambale, set foot on the sand of Walvis Bay on 14th February 1869. Then they spent a year in Otjimbingwe, where Martti Rautanen met a lady by the name Frieda, who was only 15 at the time. The missionaries then continued to Owamboland, and first settled in a village called Omandongo, on 9th July 1870. From Omandongo, the missionaries spread to Olukonda-Oniipa and other Kingdoms. The main building in Olukonda is today the Nakambale Museum, as Nakambale Martti and Frieda Rautanen with family lived here for most of their life. Nakambale died in 1926, Frieda in 1937, and they are buried in Olukonda, with some of their children. ARRIVAL AT ONIIPA POPULARY KNOWN AS A HOME FOR THE FINNISH In 1887, the Aandonga late King Kambonde ka Mpingana allocated them a piece of land in Oniipa, 8 km north of Olukonda, but due to staff shortage only in 1889 Frans Hannula started building a house, joined later by Albin Savola. The old main building from 1891 is still there, and used as a guesthouse. MAJOR WORK BY THE MISSIONARIES Besides preaching and teaching the Bible, they started learning Oshindonga and soon started writing elementary school books and grammar, and started translating passages from the Bible, and also hymns.

BACH PDF, EPUB, EBOOK Mike Venezia | 30 pages | 31 Aug 2000 | Hachette Children's Group | 9780516263526 | English | London, United Kingdom Johann Sebastian Bach | Biography, Music, & Facts | Britannica Thomas Church and School in Leipzig, Germany. Even though his job in Leipzig kept him very busy, in his spare time, Bach conducted a group of musicians who liked to get together to perform at a local coffee house. During his lifetime, people thought of Bach as just an ordinary working musician. No one really knew much about his music until years after his death, when another composer, Felix Mendelssohn, conducted a performance of Bach's St. Matthew Passion. Bach is now seen as one of the greatest geniuses in music history. He wrote all kinds of music -- for organ and other keyboard instruments, orchestras, choirs, and concertos for many different instrumental combinations. He was a devoutly religious man, and knew tragedy: his first wife died suddenly while he was away on business; 12 of his 20 children died in infancy; one of his sons had severe learning difficulties; and another ran away from home in his teens and died in mysterious circumstances. With employers, who rarely appreciated his talents, he was chippy and argumentative; at a family gathering with a few drinks and a pipe of tobacco, however, he was robustly good-humoured, especially when the Bach clan took turns to improvise rude country songs. Bach's style is baroque, characterised by lots of notes, simple motoric rhythms, and steady shifts of underlying harmony - it was derided by some as 'sewing-machine music'.

  • Divine Law Enforcement and Mission Transculturality
Kim Groop Divine Law Enforcement and Mission Transculturality The Finnish Missionary Society and the emergence of the first Church Rules in the Ovambo mission field in South West Africa Introduction This article scrutinises the work of the Finnish Missionary Society as regards the creating of a Church Law in the emerging Ovambo Lutheran Church, in what is today the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Namibia. The work resulted, in1924 , in the church’s first Church Rules. In this endeavour, the Finnish missionaries took as a model the Finnish Church Law of 1869, but also utilised elements from the old Swedish Church Law from 1686. The aim of the missionaries was to create a law that could establish proper foundations for a Lutheran Church of their own preference. In the two last chapters of the art icle, the issue of transculturality is discussed. It is suggested that the Finnish mission’s undertaking in Namibia was not simply character ised by the imposition of a new religion and new rules, but rather that this work was a fitting example of cultural exchange and transfusion. In this cultural exchange, various hybridised groups and individuals interacted in what would eventually result in a Lutheran church built on different cultural traditions, religious practices, and memories. 42 Divine Law Enforcement and Mission Transculturality Mission Enforcement and Divine Law The Backdrop The Finnish Missionary Society1 was founded in 1859. As was the case with most Protestant mission societies, this society was founded in the wake of Pietism and evangelical revivals of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. It had among its founders and members numer ous prominent Lutheran individuals – among them many Lutheran pastors and lay people with connections to various revival movements.

The role of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Namibia (ELCIN) as a pioneer of social development through Education in Ovamboland (1870‐1970): A Church Historical Study Eino M. Nangula Thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the Degree of Master of Theology in Church History in the Faculty of Theology University of Stellenbosch Supervisor: Prof. R.R. Date: ................................................ Copyright © 2013 Stellenbosch University All rights reserved II Stellenbosch University http://scholar.sun.ac.za Abstract This study is a historical investigation of the role of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Namibia (ELCIN) regarding social development with special attention to education as an agency of social change. ELCIN is the largest Lutheran church in Namibia, which was born out of the Finnish missionary activities after their arrival in the former Ovamboland in 1870. The Finnish missionaries became the first missionaries to do mission work in Ovamboland. This qualifies them to be regarded as pioneers of social development and of the transformation of society through education among the Ovambo people. ELCIN’s humble beginnings started as a mission field and developed into mission congregations; thereafter as a mission church and finally as independent church in 1954. The study shows that since its inception ELCIN has been committed to serve her members holistically (spiritually and socially).

  • Five Solas from Wikipedia, the Free Encyclopedia
Five solas From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The Five solas are five Latin phrases that emerged during the Protestant Protestantism Reformation and summarize the Reformers' basic theological beliefs in contradistinction to the teaching of the Roman Catholic Church of the day. The Latin word sola means "alone" or "only" in English. The five solas articulated five fundamental beliefs of the Protestant Reformation, pillars which the Reformers believed to be essentials of the Christian life and practice. Olukonda historic mission station as a cultural memory and heritage site Kim Groop* Abstract In 1992, the old Finnish mission station Olukonda in the Oshikoto Region of northern Namibia was declared a national heritage site. This was the first such heritage declaration after Namibia gained its independence in 1990. In this article, I examine the Olukonda station from a historical and cultural memory perspective. The legendary missionary Martti Rautanen – or Nakambale – resided at the site between 1880 and his death in 1926, and he is buried at Olukonda together with most of his family members. Olukonda is the site where the relationship between the king(s) and the missionaries was tested, shaped, and consolidated. At Olukonda Finnish- missionary Lutheranism was gradually adopted by Ondonga society, and eventually Olukonda would become a site which the Ovambo would view as a part of their own heritage. In the article, I discuss remembrance and forgetting, time demarcations, and the different understandings of decisive events of the past. I argue that Olukonda is the main site which nurtures the memory of the Lutheran past in northern Namibia, but also that, at Olukonda, various mission and church related memories intermingle with nationalism and Ovambo culture. Olukonda as a Lutheran mission station The work of the Finnish Missionary Society 1 in Namibia dates back to the year 1870 when six missionaries and two carpenters arrived at Omandongo in the Ondonga kingdom. The missionaries responded to an invitation by King Shikongo shaKalulu which was communicated through the Rhenish missionary Hugo Hahn some years earlier.
