Also set to perform are Latin GRAMMY winners and current nominees Rubén Blades, Carlos Franzetti and Juanes as well as the 2014 Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year singer/songwriter Joan Manuel Serrat. In a special Best New Artist performance nominees Aneeka, Pablo López and Mariana Vega will take the stage together at the 15th Annual Latin GRAMMY AwardsTM (#LatinGRAMMY). Confirmed to present awards are current Latin GRAMMY nominees Lila Downs, Debi Nova, Niña Pastori and Soledad Pastorutti as well as super model/designer Alessandra Ambrosio, actor Jaime Camil, actor/musician Carlos PeñaVega, and actress/singer Maite Perroni. The Biggest Night in Latin Music® will take place Nov. 20 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and will air live on the Univision Network from 8 – 11 p.m. ET/PT (7 p.m. Central). Marc Anthony has four nominations: two for Record Of The Year for "Cambio De Piel" and "Cuando Nos Volvamos A Encontrar," (with Carlos Vives) and Album Of The Year and Best Salsa Album for 3.0. Rubén Blades is up for two nominations: Album Of The Year and Best Tango Album for Tangos. Juanes garnered two nominations for Best Pop/Rock Album for Loco De Amor and Best Rock Song for "Mil Pedazos." Carlos Franzetti is up for three nominations: Album Of The Year for Tangos, Best Tango Album for In The Keys Of Tango and Best Classical Album for Alma — Piano Music Of Argentina. Carlos Vives has six nods: Record Of The Year for "El Mar De Sus Ojos" (featuring ChocQuibTown), Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year and Best Tropical Song for "Cuando Nos Volvamos A Encontrar" (featuring Marc Anthony), and Album Of The Year and Best Contemporary Tropical Album for Más + Corazón Profundo.     Laudatio del Profesor Doctor D. Emilio Casares Rodicio con motivo de la investidura como Doctor “Honoris Causa” del Excmo. Sr. Dr. D. Joan Manuel Serrat Excmo. Sr., Rector Magfco; Excmo. Sr. Presidente del Congreso; Excma. Sra. Presidenta de la Comunidad; Excmo. Sr. Ministro de Industria; Miembros del claustro universitario; Señoras y Señores: Por tercera vez en poco tiempo subo a esta tribuna, obedeciendo el mandato del Sr. Rector, de hacer la Laudatio de un músico español nominado para recibir el honroso título de Doctor honoris causa por esta Universidad, ilustre por tantos conceptos. Parece necesario que comience confesando a este claustro, que no son mis méritos personales los que llevan a esta situación, sino la escasez de esta especie, espero que no en extinción, que formamos los musicólogos en la Universidad española y por ello en la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Este acto adquiere para mí una elevada significación cultural: la imposición de la máxima distinción académica a un representante de la “otra creación musical” conocida en Hispanoamérica con ese bello nombre de “Música popular urbana”, dos conceptos “popular” y “urbana”, que en música adquieren un especial significado. Con este doctorado se completan los ámbitos en los que la se expresa la música, y se reconoce a un artista íntimamente ligado a nuestra reciente historia; un artista que ha marcado nuestra vida musical diaria. Esta universidad ha hecho “doctor honoris causa” a los maestros Joaquín Rodrigo, Carmelo Bernaola, Luis de Pablo, Cristóbal Halffter, Antón García Abril, Teresa Berganza, Plácido Domingo y Tomás Marco, a quienes cito “propter ordinem senectutem”, todos representantes insignes de la moderna creación e interpretación musical, y ahora propone a un representante de la “otra música”.

    Robert Juliat Dalis adds a golden glow to the Latin Grammy Awards 2020 | 1 Robert Juliat award-winning Dalis 860 adds golden glow to Latin Grammy Awards 2020 Hosted by Ana Brenda Contreras, Victor Manuelle and Yalitza Aparicio, the 21st Latin Grammy Awards were celebrated in late November to honour the cream of the Latin music scene. This year saw a rather different format from the usual star-studded occasion due to the dictates of the COVID-19 pandemic: to ensure the safety of the artists and the production team, the nominees were showcased to the world in a remote, live broadcast by Univision from the American Airlines Arena in Miami, with breakout performances streamed from other cities throughout Latin America. Despite the lack of a live audience, this year’s performances were no less glamorous, and the stellar line up – which included the likes of Bad Bunny, Camilo, Kany García, J Balvin, Jesse & Joy, Natalia Lafourcade, Ricky Martin, Fito Páez and Carlos Vives all competing for Album Of The Year – were presented in their best light, bringing some much-needed joy and warmth to its worldwide viewing audience. The Awards show’s lighting designer and director, Tom Kenny, operating from the Miami base, chose to enhance the appearance of the artists with the elegance and subtleties of a number of Robert Juliat Dalis 860 LED fixtures. Nine of the 8-colour LED battens were arranged at ground level in a horseshoe configuration bordering the front of the performing area, from where they were used as footlights and for low level front lighting.

Carlos A. Reutemann . FUNDAMENTOS Señor Presidente: El día 4 de octubre de 2009 falleció “La Negra” Mercedes Sosa, artista de nuestro folclore argentino. Nacida el día 9 de Julio de 1935 en la ciudad de San Miguel de Tucumán, fue desde su juventud una artista destacada. Participó a mediados de los años ’60 junto a su primer esposo Manuel Oscar Matus, del movimiento de la nueva canción, comenzando así una carrera artística que superó las fronteras de nuestro país y de Latinoamérica, llegando en 1967 a su primera gira internacional por los Estados Unidos y Europa. En los años subsiguientes, continuó actuando y grabando, extendiendo su repertorio hasta incluir material de toda América Latina. Firme defensora de los derechos humanos, tras el golpe de estado del 24 de marzo de 1976, permaneció en el país a pesar de la represión y del hecho de que sus discos fueran prohibidos, hasta que en 1979, en un concierto en La Plata, fue cacheada y detenida en el propio escenario y el público asistente arrestado. Se exilió entonces en París y para después radicarse en Madrid hasta su regreso al país. Su vuelta se produjo en el año 1982, poco después de que el régimen militar se viera obligado a iniciar el traspaso del poder a un gobierno civil, tras la perdida Guerra de Malvinas.
