Geography – Wednesday 24th February In geography this half term we will be learning about where animals come from including finding out about all 7 continents and their climates. Continents – Our world is divided into land and sea. The blue parts on the map below are the seas and oceans. The coloured parts are the land and this is split into 7 continents which are made up of different countries within them. We live in England (the country) and Europe (the continent). If you have a bigger world map, atlas or access to google maps you may want to explore that instead. What can you see? Can you have a go at saying the names of the continents that are there? Can you find Europe – this is the continent we live on? Can you see the UK? Keep looking and try to remember where each of the continents are. Your adult could cover the names up one at a time and see if you can remember them. Here’s a really catchy song to help you remember the names of all 7 continents! Year 1 - 2/6/20 Hello Puffins and Owls, We hope your first day of home learning went smoothly and you have enjoyed creating some things for your ‘trip’ to the U.S.A. Do you remember our first Year 1 topic all the way back last September? It seems like such a long time ago! We discovered and learned lots of information about Dinosaurs. Some of you were already dinosaur experts and taught us new facts we didn’t already know. The Royal Mint (not polo mints) are the organisation that creates the money we use. Each coin or note you have in your money box will have been designed and made by the Royal Mint. You might be wondering what this has to do with dinosaurs… They have been working with the Natural History Museum in London to create 3 new coins with pictures of dinosaurs on them. These are very special because they are coloured and if you scan them with a special AR code scanner you can discover where and when the first fossil was discovered.
