OPTIMUM DAYLIGHT DISTRIBUTION The number and size of roof windows govern the amount and distribution of daylight in the room, as well as the view. Mul- tiple smaller windows allow the light to be distributed more uniformly than one large window does (with equal total glazed areas).

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR TROUBLE-FREE USE OF ROOF WINDOWS

• Radiators should always be positioned below the roof windows • The interior reveal surface below the window should be vertical and the one above the window horizontal • Hot air should flow past the entire surface of the glazing – particularly at the bottom of the window

In order to get all benefits of high-quality roof windows, the interior reveal must be built correctly. It can provide maxi- mum daylight in the room (30-40 % more daylight than a window of equal glazed area) and natural flow of air past the glass pane. This greatly reduces the risk of build-up of internal condensation on the surface of the double glazing unit. GLAZING

FENESTRA roof windows are available with various types of glazing. You can choose double or triple glazing with soft coating which reflects thermal energy back into the room. A spacing frame made of low-conductivity material is fitted between glass panes to form a warm edge which suppresses build-up of internal condensation on the glass.

The top clear acrylic lacquer coat offers ultimate protection from water and UV radiation (impregnation and all-over triple coat lacquer with a thickness of 180 µm). Enhanced resistance to moisture and UV radiation is provided by a thick acrylic lacquer coat and a top colour coat of one of WHITE, LIMBA and TEAK paints (impreg- nation + 7-coat all-over lacquer with a thickness of 360 µm).

Rooms with high humidity will benefit from roof windows with durable two-component polyurethane finish (impregnation + all-over triple coat polyurethane lacquer with a thickness of 400 µm). Windows with polyurethane lacquer and enhanced moisture and UV radiation resistance are available with WHITE PUR finish.

MAINTENANCE-FREE SURFACE FINISH Humid rooms will greatly benefit from all-plastic FENESTRA roof windows. The plastic windows are made of white PVC profiles (wood pattern is available as an option). The maintenance-free PLASTIC roof windows are weather-resistant and require no treatment or lacquer coating.

OPERATING, POSITION-LOCKING, LOCKING

• The top-side push lock offers comfortable operation and win- dow locking in two locations. The closing mechanism is built in a unique cover bar with hidden joints for installing a roller blind. • For rooms in which only the bottom side of the window will be accessible, roof windows with a bottom handle (with an op- tional security locking function) are available. For windows with a top-side closing mechanism, an additional bottom handle can be supplied and fitted. • A control rod can be used for operating the window sash or in- terior accessories installed up to 4 m height above the floor level. • You can also open and close roof windows that are installed at height by means of electric remote control. When open, the window provides a gap of approximately 30 cm. • If needed, the open wooden window can be locked in position using a locking bolt (which serves as a child safety lock). • When closed, the window can be locked in position using a locking bottom handle or a window surface-mounted lock.

7 UNINSULATED ROOF EXIT windows These windows are designed as roof exit windows for uninsu- lated rooms. They are made of impregnated pine wood and fitted with 3/8/3 mm double glazing. The closing mechanism permits the sash to be locked in three ventilation positions. The window comprises integrated flashings and a damp-proof membrane collar. The steel plate on the bottom part of the frame provides a tread surface for exit from the room. The window opens either as a top-hung or side-hung window (the side can be changed during installation). These windows are suitable for roof pitches of 20-65°.

INSULATED ROOF EXIT roof windows If you need to exit an insulated room to the outside, install insu- lated roof exit windows. Their appearance and properties are no different from conventional roof windows. The hinges are at the top of the window and allow the sash to open to 180°. There is double sealing between the frame and the sash. The covers are polyester-coated weather-resistant aluminium sections (optional materials include copper and titanium zinc). The windows are provided with double glazing units or with triple glazing. The handle at the bottom of the sash enables it to be locked in three positions (one fully closed position and two trickle ventilation positions). These windows are suitable for roof pitches between 15° and 65°. With an insulated roof exit window, it is necessary to order flashings that correspond to the roofing type.

• WOODEN roof exit windows are made of impregnated glued solid pine wood and are always lacquer-coated. • PLASTIC roof exit windows are built from white multi-cham- ber lead-free PVC profiles with steel reinforcement.

VERTICAL WINDOWS combined with roof windows FENESTRA vertical windows are designed exclusively for combinations with roof windows. They are suitable for installation in roof pitches between 20° and 50°. As their sashes are bottom-hung, they provide ventilation even during heavy rain. They also offer good view, even in rooms with high vertical walls.

8 PREFABRICATED DORMER WINDOWS The prefabricated dormer windows combine the advantages of roof windows and . They are suitable for roof pitches between 35° and 60°.

Advantages of prefabricated dormer windows: • Less laborious installation than dormer windows • Considerably more daylight (glazed top and sides) • Panoramic view • Expanded loft space near the roof envelope • Unique architectural feature

Their configuration reduces the risk the membranes.

PROTECTIVE DAMP-PROOF COLLAR The collar is made from a permeable membrane material. The collar sections are factory-bonded to obtain the specified win- dow size. No additional adjustment or trimming is required. The collar is placed around the window frame and stapled to the sides of the frame and the counter-battens. It forms a perfect joint between the roof window and the damp-proof barrier layer (the membrane between the roofing and the heat insula- tion layer). VAPOUR BARRIER COLLAR The collar is made of vapour-proof membrane. The collar sec- tions are factory-bonded to match the roof window size. The collar is fitted with an integral vapour-proof tape for attaching to the window frame. After removing the cover band, the tape should be fitted in the panelling groove running along the entire circumference of the frame. It forms a tight joint between the roof window and the vapour-proof layer (the membrane be- tween the insulation and the interior panelling). PREFABRICATED INTERIOR LINING It is a perfect solution for window re- placement projects. The panels are made from washable laminated board. They are attached to the window with concealed angle brackets. They are available in white colour for EXCELLENT and THERMICAL win- dows. Their maximum width is 35 cm (for greater widths please contact the sales de- partment). The delivery includes a mounting template which makes the installation quick and simple, and the PNM vapour-proof bar- rier, strips for attaching to the existing panel- ling, and all fasteners. By using the prefabri- cated interior lining, you can greatly reduce dust levels when restoring the interior reveal and speed up the replacement.

16 INTERIOR MULTI-FUNCTION MULTIFILM BLINDS They are unique products which provide effective protection from the glare and heat of the sun and and are aesthetically appealing at the same time. They run in alumin- ium side guides which prevent ingress of light through the sides and allow the roller blind to be fixed in any position desired. If complete darkness in the room is required, we recommend BLACKOUT film roller blinds. They are fully opaque and provide com- plete blackout. The other types of blinds have a light dimming effect and reduce glare (sunscreening and decorative items).

Multi-function interior film blinds: • Protect the room from overheating in summer (up to 88 % efficiency), • Reduce the heat loss in winter (heat savings up to 30 %), • Prevent glints and reflections on television and computer screens, • Protect from harmful UV radiation (99 % efficiency), • Offer a a view out the window even through the closed blind (or, with the black- out type of film, provide complete darkness).

INSECT SCREEN The insect screen protects against flying insects. Its design en- ables it to be retracted either from bottom to top (on windows with a top handle) or in the opposite direction (on windows with a bottom handle). As the screen is mounted on the window re- veal, the window can still be opened to the depth of the recess. When not used, the screen can be rolled up in an aluminium box on the window.

17 WE ALSO OFFER: LOFT LADDERS

All of our loft hatches are insulated, offering various heat insulation characteristics. On request, hatches with 30-minute fire resist- ance are available. ClickFix 76 loft ladder offers a unique construction and the value of U=0.49 W.m-2.K-1 .

Finding the U value of a loft hatch used to be a matter of cal- culation related only to the centre of the hatch. However, such a number is nothing more than a theoretical value which does not account for losses due to cold bridges created by the hatch frame or the box. Energy calculations, on the other hand, rely on real values which represent the entire structural unit. Therefore, we had the heat transmission through ClickFix hatch verified at IFT Rosenheim, a leading institute for construction materials testing.
