Well Rounded kick off 2019 with the return of 2 artists who previously released on the label. FOAMPLATE featured on our first ever release with 'Fuzz'. SIBLA joined the party with 'Trial' on WRDubs 03. Both of these A1 new contributions show further evolutions of particular aspects of their unique styles. On the A side FOAMPLATE drops a supa-tuff shuffler entitled 'Lost'. This is a shadowy alien musical landscape built upon monolithic, monotonal subbass with subtle innovations. A weird wirey melody appears then weaves between the sharp skankin' snares and dark filtered cymbal textures. These fuse and ride out in the direction of the mid-journey breakdown. From the 2nd drop, splashes of distortion start to subvert the bottom end adding nuff grub to this dub. On the AA side SIBLA advances his production portfolio with deft B1 sample-sculpting. The near chopped and screwed beat places this track equidistant between hip-hop and dubstep. The Conspiracy hailed from Mount Pleasant, a college town in the center of Michigan. Originally formed as The Allusions, they became Nino & The Nomads before changing their name to The Conspiracy in 1966. For A1 the next few years the group stayed busy on the live circuit. "We were booked all over the state," remembers singer Aquilino Soriano. "Every weekend we'd be somewhere. We were about two and a half hours from Detroit, so we'd go down south, we'd go up north; we'd go everywhere. There was this network of teen clubs where kids didn't have to be 21 and everybody could go. It was fantastic." In 1967 the group had what Aquilino describes as "probably our apex moment". Kustom Amplifiers sponsored a statewide Battle of the Bands tournament, and The Conspiracy battled through several rounds of competition to B1 make it all the way to the finals in Saginaw. "It was a statewide thing that culminated there," remembers Aquilino. "Question Mark & The Mysterians and a couple of others that were notables were also in it - and we won it! We got our award from Bob Seger

What began as a bedroom project of sorts (monophonic A3 synthesisers, 4-track cassette recordings) the project soon blossomed into a functional live unit. Following a A4 self-released cassette single at the start of the year, the pair spent the latter part of 2018 touring continental A5 Europe and the west coast of North America. Recorded at Holyrook Estudio in Barcelona, Terra Alta is the group-s first full-length effort. The verse-chorus songwriting, the raw set-up of 2-synths-and-a-beat, and the A6 primal rhythms nod to the duo-s background in punk. But Terra Alta has a pensive and mesmeric quality, B1 provided in part by an outstanding production job (Studio AS One, Warsaw), but also by lyrics concerning B2 themselves with themes of love, time travel, reflections on the future, the power of imagination and the B3 mysteries of the natural world. The title track "Solitude" storms into a dark basement of flashing strobes and lasers. "Another Platform" is a cavalry charge at full gallop. Fellow countryman Zygos has lit the fuse for his sonically abysmal "Venery EP". A highly prolific talent, who's A1 productions undoubtedly had a considerable impact on the scene within the last year, including various massive vinyl outings on labels such as Unity Through Sound, Rarefied or Subaltern Records & support from vital figures like Sleeper or N-Type. OVD001 serves profound bassweight on a 12" platter, setting the tone for future releases. Garbled voice echo reverberations intermingle with sneaky percussion grooves in A2 "Resilience" - eerie down to the core. As sub frequencies come into play the psychedelic atmosphere continues to twist itself further only to re-structure itself into a straight banger, giving way to thick midbass pulses and a dense dubstep onslaught. "Tension" heads off into coherent territory, leading the way into a beautifully broken groove held together by heavy snares, fluid drum fills and organic foley. The devious B1 second drop reels us back in, elegantly surmising the up-tempo feel of this wonky beat. Flipping the record for its conclusion, listeners are being met with the supreme title track "Venery"

JMII makes serious music without the need to take himself too seriously. In 'Modulations', the Barcelona A1 producer keeps building an increasingly solid and personal sound in his more accomplished collection of music to date. Five tracks that display a universe filled with inventive synth lines, smart production and quirky references to the "day to day of producing music and the strange world of those who like to read A2 machine manuals and learn to program new synths". Take 'Synthesize',the EP's opening track, in which he samples every gearhead's favourite YouTube video. But far from relying on a gimmick, the track is a lesson in how to make trance the right way. 'Communication' emerged from the same studio sessions, but has a B1 much deeper feel, blending ethereal chords and melodies with voices that seem to get lost in a black hole. 'Modulation' is probably the boldest track JMII has ever produced. Lead by a nasty bass line and punctuated by martial percussions and menacing strings, it's one of those in-between genres cuts that can B2 cause havoc in any kind of dancefloor

VTSS, as the resident of the infamous and daring Brutaz party and Jansa1 club in her hometown of Warsaw, quickly made her name across the continent through her raw and aggressive live shows, energetic DJ sets, and a sound cutting the line A2 between techno, EBM, rave and industrial. Furthermore, in 2018 she participated in the Berlin edition of the seminal Red Bull Music Academy and released her debut EP on SPFDJ's Intrepid Skin, further entrenching her reputation as one of the most exciting artists arising in the genre. Label boss Perc returns to Perc Trax for his first full release since his career defining "Bitter Music" LP in May A1 2017, an album which featured the infamous "Look What Your Love Has Done To Me", one of the most played techno tracks of the year and Perc Trax's best selling track to date.
