Magazine 2013 W320 N° 320 AMPHOTOSPORTS MAGAZINE N° 320 WALES RALLY GB Treizième et dernière manche du FIA WORLD RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP Du 14 au 17 novembre auauau WRC, WRC -2 et WRC -3. Sébastien OGIER et Julien INGRASSIA s’imposent au terme d’un rallye qu’ ils auront totalement dominé . Seuls Jari -Matti LATVALA et Mikka ANTTILA auraient pu contrecarrer l’équipage Français mais ils furent trop inconstants pour espérer mieux qua la seconde place. Troisième place pour Thierry NEUVILLE et Nicolas GILSOUL qui s’assurent la seconde place du Championnat Mondial. WRC-2 : Première victoire en WRC-2 pour Elfyn EVANS et Daniel BARRITT qui auront dominé leur épreuve nationale devant Jari KETOMMA et Tapio SUOMINEN . Troisième place pour les Britanniques Mark HIGGINS et Carl WILLIAMSON . WRC-3 : Chardonnet déjà titré et Gilbert ne pouvant plus marquer de points se montreront quand même les meilleurs de la catégorie loin devant le vainqueur du jour, Jukka KORHONEN qui s’impose à sa première participation dans la catégorie devant Keith CRONIN . Jeudi 14 et vendredi 15 (SS1 à SS3 et SS4 à SS9) – Domination des Volkswagen – OGIER prends les devant sur LATVALA. Déjà en tête à l’issue de la courte première étape (3SS), Ogier accentuait son avance sur Latvala. Neuville se calait au troi sième rang devant Osberg et Novikov. Citroên décimé, Kubica partait en tonneau (SS1) et Hirvonen faisait de même sur une erreur de son copilote (SS6), quant à Sordo pénalisé de 5’00 suite à une erreur de châssis de la part de Citroën, il remontait très fort et incluait le top dix à l’issue de cette étape. Côté WRC-2, Evans menait les débats devant Higgins et Ketomaa. Pour sa première apparition en WRC-3, Korhonen pointait en tête de la catégorie. Samedi 16 (SS10 à SS16) – Toujours OGIER devant LATVALA – NEUVILLE troisième sous ma menace de MIKKELSEN. Domination toujours aussi totale des Polo du Volkswagen Motorsport et si Ogier assurait sans prendre de risque, Mikkelsen s’imposait dans les SS10 et 11 avant que Latvala en fasse autant dans les SS12, 13 et 14. Sordo puis Neuville prenaient le dessus dans les SS15 et 16. Ce dernier se maintenait à la troisième place devant un Mikkelsen de plus en plus menaçant. Novikov à la lutte avec Ostsberg et Mikkelsen pour la 4 ème place sortait dans le SS11. Evans dominait toujours le WRC-2 et Korhonen faisait de même en WRC-3 loin devant Cronin. Dimanche 17 (SS17 à SS22) –Neuvième succès de la saison pour OGIER (record) – NEUVILLE vice-champion du monde. Ogier s’adjugeait trois des six spéciales de la journée (SS17, 20 et 21) imposant encore un peu plus sa domination synonyme d e neuvième succès de la saison. Latvalla devait se contenter d’assurer une seconde place face à Neuville qui remportait les trois points de la power stage devant Novikov et Ostberg. Sa toisième place finale lui assurait d’être Vice-champion du Monde. Du côté des WRC-2, Evans s’imposait après avoir dominé l’épreuve du début à la fin tout comme Korhonen en WRC-3 ou toutefois Gilbert se montrait largement le plus efficace. Quelques changements au sein du plateau avec le passage de Taniguchi au Nika Racing, les arrivées de Calko (LET) et de Soong (HKG) au sein du Campos Racing ainsi que la présence de quatre pilotes du cru, Alves-Dias, De Jesus, Lam et Rosa-Merszei, Etaient donc au départ de cette dernière manche les Honda Civic WTCC de Tarquini, Monteiro et de Michelisz, la Honda Accord Type-R de De Jesus (MAC), les Chevrolet Cruze 1.6T de Muller, Chilton, MacDowall, Nash, Oriola et Taniguchi, les Chevrolet Cruze LT de De Souza, Veng et Badaraco, les Chevrolet Lacetti de Lam (MAC) et d’Alves-Dias (MAC), les Seat Léon WTCC de Huff, Basseng, Münnich, Boardman, Calko, Valente et Soong, les Lada Granta de Koslovskiy et Thompson, les BMW 320 TC de Coronel, Barth, Engstler, Ng Ka Ki, O’Young, Bennani, D’Aste, les BMW 320si de Ka Lok, Ho et de Rosa-Merszei (MAC). Du côté des poids compensatoires, les Honda et les Cruze 1.6T supportaient 40 kg, les BMW 320 TC embarquaient 10 kg tandis que les Lada bénéficiaient de moins 20 kg et les Seat de moins 10 kg. Les BMW 320si, les Cruze LT, les Lacetti et la Honda Accord ne supportaient aucun lest.     Honda Racing team Sweden and Rickard Rydell all set for WTCC opener Argentina, March 5, 2015 After a winter filled with anticipation, this weekend finally sees the 2015 FIA World Touring Car Championship get underway in Argentina. Joining the grid for the first time will be Honda Racing team Sweden – the only outfit from the Scandinavian country to feature in an official world championship motor racing series – spearheaded by star driver Rickard Rydell. Following almost two years of hard work behind the scenes, this is the moment it all boils down to; facing the opposition out on track. 47-year-old Rydell is one of Sweden’s most experienced and successful racing drivers of the modern era, having clinched titles in both the British (1998) and Scandinavian (2011) Touring Car Championships and raced full-time in the WTCC between 2005 and 2009. 2015 marks Rydell’s return to the international touring car stage, as he embarks on an all-Swedish assault on the world championship. Hosting the first round of the season is the Autódromo Termas de Río Hondo, a 4.805 km circuit that first appeared on the WTCC calendar in 2013. FAST FACTS - ARGENTINA While this weekend marks Rydell’s first official appearance as a Honda driver, it will not be his maiden outing in a Honda car.     Girolami scores on impressive WTCC debut Bratislava, June 21, 2015 Néstor Girolami showcased impressive pace on his FIA World Touring Car Championship debut this weekend, scoring a point for Honda Racing team Sweden at the Slovakia Ring. The highly-rated Argentine Súper TC2000 champion swiftly settled into life on the international touring car arena, qualifying within 0.001 seconds of works Honda driver Tiago Monteiro – a winner last time out in WTCC Race of Russia. The effort, however, only yielded 18th place on the grids for the weekend’s two races as set-up issues and compensation weight affected the overall performance. In Sunday’s opening 11-lap encounter, Girolami then used refined settings to full effect, making up four places on the opening lap alone and later passing Chevrolet’s Stefano D’Aste in the twisty infield section of the circuit. By the fall of the chequered flag, Girolami had hauled himself up to tenth place, scoring one world championship point at the first time of asking. In the subsequent Race 2, the 26-year-old miraculously avoided contact with Ma Qing Hua’s stalled Citroën at the start, and went on to narrowly miss out on another points finish in 11th. The WTCC field now moves on to France’s Circuit Paul Ricard, where the next round of the season is set to take place in just one week’s time.
