Zepavitta The 2014 reissue sounds so good! I've never heard an original version but I assume that this has either better sound or equal quality sound because it sounds amazing! Love this album so much! Dawncrusher No mention here of the additional reissue circa 1990/91 from Young God with hand drawn artwork by Michael Gira. 1000 copies (I think), all slightly different. Kigul REISSUE of THIS RECORD IS A BOOTLEG - NEUTRAL RECORDS was run by Glenn Branca and is out of business for ages - don't buy records where artists are getting ripped off. Later editions were on different colored paper sleeves and produced by request, and is evidenced by a variety of years marked on them noting when purchased. 1st edition all marked 2001. Gira offered this additional 're-pressing' briefly with other handmade solo releases, those being not numbered unlike the first editions or numbered with an end point greater than the initial edition. For example, the re-press of I Am Singing To You From My Room ends at 2,000, wheres the originals end at 1,000. A collection composed primarily of home recordings by Michael Gira; tracks 11 and 12 respectively are a rare live recording and a studio outtake from the Angels of Light's first album.

Catalog 10 Flyers + Boo-hooray May 2021 22 eldridge boo-hooray.com New york ny Boo-Hooray Catalog #10: Flyers Boo-Hooray is proud to present our tenth antiquarian catalog, exploring the ephemeral nature of the flyer. We love marginal scraps of paper that become important artifacts of historical import decades later. In this catalog of flyers, we celebrate phenomenal throwaway pieces of paper in music, art, poetry, film, and activism. Readers will find rare flyers for underground films by Kenneth Anger, Jack Smith, and Andy Warhol; incredible early hip-hop flyers designed by Buddy Esquire and others; and punk artifacts of Crass, the Sex Pistols, the Clash, and the underground Austin scene. Also included are scarce protest flyers and examples of mutual aid in the 20th Century, such as a flyer from Angela Davis speaking in Harlem only months after being found not guilty for the kidnapping and murder of a judge, and a remarkably illustrated flyer from a free nursery in the Lower East Side. For over a decade, Boo-Hooray has been committed to the organization, stabilization, and preservation of cultural narratives through archival placement. Today, we continue and expand our mission through the sale of individual items and smaller collections. We encourage visitors to browse our extensive inventory of rare books, ephemera, archives and collections and look forward to inviting you back to our gallery in Manhattan’s Chinatown. Catalog prepared by Evan Neuhausen, Archivist & Rare Book Cataloger and Daylon Orr, Executive Director & Rare Book Specialist; with Beth Rudig, Director of Archives. • 'The Glowing Man': a Critical Analysis of A
“‘The Glowing Man’: A Critical Analysis of a Social Media Disclosure of Sexual Violence in the Field of Cultural Production” by Christopher Worden A Thesis presented to The University of Guelph In partial fulfillment of requirements for the degree of Master of Arts in Sociology Guelph, Ontario, Canada © Christopher Worden, September, 2017 ABSTRACT “‘The Glowing Man’: A Critical Analysis of a Social Media Disclosure of Sexual Violence in the Field of Cultural Production” Chris Worden Advisor: University of Guelph, 2017 Dr. Mavis Morton This thesis examines the discourse surrounding an online disclosure of sexual violence in the music field. Research questions addressed three things: 1. The discursive role of symbolic capital and the field of cultural production; 2. The extent to which features of the online feminist counter-public were represented; and 3. How the logic of the music field and strategies of the online feminist counter-public contributed to accused and complainant outcomes. A critical thematic analysis of the online discourse demonstrated that symbolic capital and position were deployed to defend the accused and discredit the complainant. The response of the online feminist counter-public countered some discrediting discourse common in sexual assault cases, but did not fully engage with the logic of the field of cultural production that was used to discredit the complainant in this case. Recommendations are offered to music journalists, arts funding organizations, and online activists to mitigate against gendered power imbalances stemming from the devaluing of women as cultural producers. iii ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS I benefited immensely from the expertise and guidance of my advisor, Dr.

  • Swans – the Glowing Man
Swans – The Glowing Man (56:58, 61:32, 2CD,Young God/Mute Records/GoodToGo, 2016) „Walking, counting, breathing, reaching … Breathing, reaching, leaving, reaching … God, oh God, I’m leaving, I’m leaving … Surrender! Surrender! Take us! Take us! … The sun, a son, a child, a sun. I see us, take us, Take us! Take us! Save us! Save us! Save us! Save us! Children: I am blind, Children: I am blind. I am blind. I am blind .…“. Michael Gira hat wieder etwas zu sagen. In seiner ganz eigenen Art. PRESS KIT 2004 In May of 1999, a team of music-science journalists were on a routine field outing in Manhattan. What they discovered shocked and perplexed them. Many experts classified The Heroine Sheiks as odd and primitive throwbacks, though others pointed out that the musical structures of these creatures were absolutely unique (some even thought the species of higher intelligence.) The scientific mainstream was unconvinced. The musical DNA evidence is now in and the dissidents have been vindicated, this is a NEW species. Many scientists still insist that these creatures will be unable to adapt themselves to a conservative climate regime. Others counter that those scientists have not personally observed The Heroine Sheiks in the wild and have ignored new data (RE. Jon Spencer Blues Explosion's influence (loud and sloppy garage-blues) was still felt throughout the country, as proven by the Immortal Lee County Killers in Alabama with The Essential Fuck-Up Blues (2001); the Black Keys in Ohio with The Big Come Up (2002); and by the Kills in Florida, playing the version popularized by the White Stripes on No Wow (2005). The Fiery Furnaces (4), formed by Matthew Friedberger and Eleanor Friedberger, siblings from Chicago who relocated to New York, exhibited a versatile and multi-faceted style on Gallowsbird's Bark (2003). Anti- crooning vocals and spiked guitar riffs as well as wildly unstable dynamics evoked the Rolling Stones at their most drunken/deranged, or Captain Beefheart's Magic Band fronted by Janis Joplin. At the same time the exuberant neglect of their arrangements was reminiscent of Pere Ubu. Blueberry Boat (2004) stretched out into longer and more ambitious songs, collages of genres and tours de force of arrangement (including electronic keyboards) that were meant to create a new form of musical theater. That form came to life on Rehearsing My Choir (2005), a work structured as a dialogue between an older woman and a younger one over a substratum of eccentric and cacophonous sounds.

  • Oles' Honchar. the Cathedral 3 Clouds with Their Arrowy Steeples, Or Recast the Outlines of the Sky in the Ample Bulges of Their Cupolas
Oles' Honchar The Cathedral Translated by Yuri Tkach and Leonid Rudnytzky Originally published by the St. Sophia Religious Association of Ukrainian Catholics in Philadelphia in 1989. Chapter I You won't find the village Zachiplianka in any encyclopedia. Yet it does exist. It might even sound somewhat funny to the unaccustomed ear Zachiplianka. Someone once got hooked on something here. And so the name stuck. In the distant past, before the factories appeared, people say there was a large village on this spot, which made spears for Zaporozhian Cossacks. When the Cossacks journeyed to the Sich they stopped here to replenish their supply of spears. Perhaps back then some Cossack got hooked on some girl here and laid the beginnings of a dynasty. People living in Zachiplianka are mostly righteous, or as Mykola the student would put it — the right people: hardworking steelworkers, people whose lives are split into shifts, day and night. A lake glistens at one end of the village and at the other end a dilapidated cathedral shimmers white in the square — an ancient Cossack cathedral. Before the village's windows, beyond the cherry orchards, across the Dnipro, the blast furnaces blaze night after night like crimson volcanoes. The sky trembles and deepens each time the foundries spill out their glow, exploding down the steep bank in a blustering stream of molten slag. Brown skies and brown smoke hover over the town. At midnight, after the night shift whirs by on bicycles towards the smelters and Zachiplianka finally plunges into sleep, weary from its daily cares, and the green-horned moon hangs above in the spacious sky, the cathedral looms over the villages, deep in thought, alone in the silence of the bright acacia night, which no longer even resembles night, but rather, an anti-night.
