Itinerary

This is another popular travel route in Sichuan, start by visiting the lovely giant pandas, Mt. Emei and Leshan Giant Buddha, then continue to dinosaur Museum in Zigong and the large scale Rock Carvings in Dazu, the trip ends when you get to Chongqing where you can embark the Yangtze Cruise or fly to other popular places in China.

Day 01 : Arrive Chengdu Chengdu airport pick up and transfer to your hotel. Have a good rest at the first day. Overnight at Chengdu.

Day 02 : Chengdu Panda Base and city exploration (B)

In the morning set out to the Chengdu Panda Breeding and Research Center, it takes about half an hour. You will watch pandas' feeding time, they are at their most active, both Adults and Babies. Later then watch the film at Panda Story Cinema to know the pandas' daily life, including their birth, mating and more.

Then visit Song Xian Qiao Antique and Art Market, the country's second-largest antique market, with more than 500 separate stalls selling everything from Mao-era currency to fake Buddha statues to wonderful watercolor paintings. Later, head to People’s Park where the locals come to relax and pursue their leisure activities, which will include dancing, singing, playing instruments, drinking tea, rowing a boat on the lake, etc.

Then the rest of the day is for you to freely stroll along the Wide and Narrow alleys which is a conservation of old architectural structures that have been implanted with modern decoration in a bustling Chengdu city, it is an only area which recorded rich architectural and social characteristic feature about the residential building from Qing Dynasty till now. Here you can try different types of local Chengdu snacks.

Day 03 : Chengdu - Leshan Grand Buddha - Mount Emei (foot of the mountain) (B)

Morning around 08:00 to be met and transferred to Leshan. On the way enjoy the beautiful countryside landscape of western Chengdu Plains during about two hours' driving on the expressway. In Leshan visit the biggest sitting Buddha sculpture in the Lingyun Temple. The grand Buddha was completed in 803 of Tang Dynasty after 90 year's construction and enjoys the fame of the biggest sitting stone sculpture in the world with a 71-meter height.

Carved on the cliff face, the sculpture is well designed with perfect balance and effective water drainage system. You can also choose to have a boat tour to see Leshan Grand Buddha (fee is on your own). After lunch, drive to Mt.Emei, check-in and have a good rest. In the afternoon you will be arranged to visit Baoguo temple. Overnight at Emeishan.

Day 04 : Full Day Sightseeing to Golden Summit (B)

Early morning take the local sightseeing bus to Leidongping, then walk about 15 minutes to Jieyin Hall, here you will take the cable car to Golden summit. Visit the Huazang temple, Golden summit Buddha Statue. If you are lucky enough, you may see the clouds sea and Buddhist Halo. Then take the sightseeing bus down to foot of the mountain, you may choose to have hot-spring at your hotel or other hotels (fee is on your own). Overnight at Emeishan.

Day 05 : Emei - Zigong (B)

In the morning drive all the way to Zigong (about 3.5 hours). In Zigong, you will be arranged to visit the Dinosaur Museum, established in the noted site of dinosaur fossils, Dashanpu, it is about 11 kilometers from the center of Zigong City. Together with the American National Dinosaur Park and the Canadian Dinosaur Park, it is one of the world's three largest dinosaur museums.

Then visit the Zigong Salt-mining Museum. Zigong has a long-standing civilization as well as rich underground resources in China. The city is also called the 'Salt Capital' in the past because of its salt resources and production. The museum to show how people make salt in the traditional way. Overnight at Zigong.

Day 06 : Zigong - Dazu rock carvings (B)

Set off from Zigong in the early morning and drive to Dazu, visit the Rock Carvings in Dazu. The Dazu Rock carvings are a series of sculptures depicting the Buddhist, Confucian and Taoist doctrines and were listed as a World Heritage Site in 1999.

The Rock Carving in Dazu spread across more than 75 sites in the county, and contain over 50,000 stone sculptures carved from the Tang Dynasty (618-907) to the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), they provide rich and valuable materials for research into the ancient China's culture, arts, philosophy, religion, and history. The two major sites are Beishan (North Hill) and Baodingshan (Baoding Hill), the group will be arranged to visit Baodingshan for its well preserved. Afterward, drive to Chongqing (117km). Overnight at Chongqing.

Day 07 : Departure from Chongqing (B)

Visit the People's Congress Hall, a giant traditional building with a large square, where plenty of people do morning and evening exercises every day. Then visit the General Stilwell Museum, a museum to commemorate General Stilwell during World War Two. Move on to visit the Eling Park, where people can have a bird's view of the whole Chongqing city and get a general idea of the Yangtze River. Then visit the Ciqikou Old Town, an old town with traditional Chongqing style buildings, tea houses, and Sichuan Opera houses. Get aboard for your Yangtze cruise or fly to other cities for your tour.
