Nota Lepidopterologica
©Societas Europaea Lepidopterologica; download unter http://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/ und www.zobodat.at Nota lepid. 8 (2) : 152-160 ; 30.VI.1985 ISSN 0342-7536 Taxonomy and distribution of Gnophos corsica Oberthür, 1913 (*) (Lepidoptera, Geometridae) Valter Raineri Université di Genova, Istituto di Zoologia, Via Balbi 5, 16126 Genova (Italy). Gnophos corsica was first described by Oberthür as a melanotic variety of "... Gnophos variegata Duponchel, 1830 : et un ö et une ç> d'une variété très obscure de Corse (PL CLXXIX, n° 1745 et 1746), morphe paraissant ..." constante et à laquelle je donne le nom de Corsica (Oberthür C. , 1913 -Et. Lép. comp. 7(1): 301). Later on, Prout (1915) treated Gnophos corsica Mill, (sic !) as a Corsican form of Gnophos variegata. Finally, Wehrli (1951) suggested that Gnophos corsica should be considered as a separate species. On the basis of external morphology and the shape of the genitalia, he included it in his new subgenus Euchro- gnophos (type species : Gnophos variegata). A comparison of the two above mentioned species clearly shows such an extreme morphological similarity to each other, that they can be considered as criptical species. For this reason I thought it interesting to point out some discriminant characters with regard to their external and internal morphology, more exactly outlining, at the same time, their geographical range. Uvedené rody, s výjimkou druhu Siona lineata, zahrnují taxony zoogeograficky významné, vyznačující se specifickými ekologickými nároky, proto bývá jejich výskyt často značně lokální, ostrůvkovitý. -
Systematic Account
Systematic Account Subfamily Ennominae DUpONChEL, 1845 (continued from volume 5) Abraxini + Cassymini + Eutoeini group of tribes (part): Addition (other species treated in volume 5) The tribes Abraxini, Cassymini and Eutoeini are morphologically similar (see SKOU & SIh VONEN 2015 for details) and their close relationship is supported by molecular data also (SIhVONEN et al. 2011). An extensive molecular study on the Geometroidea phylogeny is under preparation and preliminary results continue to support the relationships of the three mentioned Ennominae groups including the genus Odontognophos WEhrLI, 1951 (M UrILLO-RAMOS et al. 2019) which is tentatively placed here in the tribe Abraxini. Morphol- ogy of the genus Dicrognophos WEhrLI, 1951 also supports association with the mentioned group, tribe Cassymini (it has thus far not been included in a molecular study). Both genera are transferred here from the Gnophini (e.g. HAUSMANN et al. 2004; 2011a) to the Abraxini + Cassymini + Eutoeini group. Odontognophos had been included in the broad concept of Macariini in BELJAEV (2016). In volume 5 of the Geometrid Moths of Europe (SKOU & SIhVONEN 2015) the following genera of the mentioned tribal group were treated: Abraxas LEACh, 1815, Ligdia GUENÉE, 1858, Lomaspilis HÜBNEr, 1825 and Stegania GUENÉE, 1845. The group is diagnosed by the following characters (HOLLOwAY 1994; SKOU & SIhVONEN 2015): Valva divided, its dorsal arm often narrow and curved, setose apically. Male 8th sternite unmodified. Fovea in male forewing often present. Chaetosemata present. Trans- verse setal comb often present on male 3rd abdominal sternite. Forewing radial veins often reduced in number. Female structures variable, diagnostic characters not yet identified. -

E-mail: [email protected] 1Corresponding author Abstract In a comprehensive morphological study besides results of DNA barcoding the genus Gnophopsodos Wehrli, 1945 is tax- onomically revised. The taxon comprises nine species. Diagnostic characters are depicted and a key to the species based on the morphology of male genitalia is provided. Males and females (if available) of each species and their genitalia are illustrated. The distribution of all species is described and figured on maps. Gnophopsodos hilmari spec. nov. from Uz- bekistan and Kyrgyzstan, Gnophopsodos sabine spec. nov. and Gnophopsodos ravistriolaria pantherinus subspec. nov., both from the Russian part of the Altai Mountains, are described as new. Gnophopsodos puengeleri (Bohatsch, 1910) stat. rev. is re-established as a separate species. The following synonyms are recognized: Chelegnophos Wehrli, 1951 syn. nov. of Gnophopsodos Wehrli, 1945; Chelegnophos alaianus Viidalepp, 1988 syn. nov. of Gnophopsodos puengeleri (Bo- hatsch, 1910), Psodos altissimaria Oberthür, 1913 syn. nov. of Gnophopsodos gnophosaria (Oberthür, 1893), and Gno- phos orbicularia Püngeler, 1904 syn. nov. of Gnophopsodos stemmataria (Eversmann, 1848) comb. nov. The latter is transferred from the genus Gnophos Treitschke, 1825 to the genus Gnophopsodos. -

Geometridae: Ennominae) Occurring in the United States and Canada
Journal of the Lepidopterists' Society 47(1). 1993.60-77 A REVISION OF THE SPECIES OF NEMATOCAMPA (GEOMETRIDAE: ENNOMINAE) OCCURRING IN THE UNITED STATES AND CANADA DOUGLAS C. FERGUSON Systematic Entomology Laboratory, Agricultural Research Service, USDA, % U.S. National Museum of Natural History, Washington, D.C. 20560 ABSTRACT. The three nearctic species of Nematocampa are revised, with special emphasis on the biology and complex nomenclatural history of the type species, N. resistaria (Herrich-Schaffer, 1855). Of the two names most commonly applied to this species, limbata Haworth, 1809, is a primary homonym, and jilamentarta Guenee, 1857, is a junior synonym of resistaria. Nematocampa resistaria is transcontinental; N. breh meata (Grossbeck, 1907) is limited to California; N. baggettaria, new species, is south eastern; and N. expunctaria Grote, 1872, is synonymized under N. resistaria. The well known larva of N. resistaria feeds on plants of at least 20 families, but the larvae of the others are unknown. About 20 additional species occur in the neotropics. Additional key words: taxonomy, nomenclature, host plants. Nematocampa Guenee is a New World genus of at least 23 species, a few of which apparently are undescribed. Although concentrated in the tropics and occurring southward to Argentina, three species are present in the temperate zone of the United States, and one reaches Canada. The neotropical species are diverse and may not all be con generic. A few other neotropical Ennominae, perhaps most notably M eli nodes conspicua Schaus from Brasil, have a reticulate wing pattern suggestive of that of Nematocampa but are not closely related. Although the type species, N. -

Entomologica, Bari, 28, (1994): 99-246 PAOLO PARENZAN Istituto di Entomologia Agraria, Università degli Studi di Palermo Contributi alla conoscenza della Lepidotterofauna dell’Italia meridionale: XVII. Geometridae* SUMMARY CONTRIBUTIONS TO KNOWLEDGE OF THE LEPIDOPTERA IN SOUTHERN ITALY XVII. GEOMETRIDAE Data reported here were collected in more than 20 years in Southern Italy; they were also inte- grated with data found in literature. The check list is according to ZANGHERI & RAINERI (in press); are also reported chorotype (sensu PARENZAN, 1994), numerical order of LERAUT (1980), data found in literature, flight time and the collection places for each species. Among the listed species: the following 10 species found by different Authors at the beginning of the century need con- firmation: Aplasta ononaria Füssl., Scopula luridata Zell., Idaea litigiosaria Bsd., Idaea sodalia- ria H.-S., Idaea contiguaria Hb., Scotopteryx moeniata Scop., Colostygia olivata D. & S., Xanthorhoe biriviata Bkh., Perizoma albulata D. & S., Cepphis advenaria Hb., Gnophos persper- satus Tr., Gnophos mucidarius Hb.; the following 16 species do not belong to the fauna of the above said regions either because synonymous of other species or because erroneusly determined: Scopula incanata L., Glossotrophia confinaria H.-S., Idaea serpentata Hfn., Idaea rusticata D. & S., Idaea sylvestraria Hb., Xanthorhoe munitata Hb., Xanthorhoe spadicearia D. & S., Xanthorhoe ferrugata Cl., Euphya unangulata Hw., Perizoma alchemillata L., Lithostege griseata D. & S., Lithostege farina- ta Prt., Gnopharmia stevenaria Bsd., Aspitates gilvaria D. & S., Hylaea squalidaria Costa, Arichanna melanaria L. At the present in the southern Italy 323 species were found, including numerous new records; in particular: one species newly recorded for the italian fauna: Idaea minuscularia Ribbe three species newly recorded for the continental Italy: Nychiodes ragusaria Mill., Casilda con- secraria Stdgr., Tephronia codetaria Obth.
