Day 2: Tuesday, September 15: Dublin _______________________________________ Arrive in Dublin for a panoramic city tour including Christ Church Cathedral and St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Dinner and overnight in Dublin. Day 3: Wednesday, September 16: Wicklow & Glendalough _____________________ Visit Trinity College in the morning, including the Book of Kells. Drive to the Wicklow Mountains and Glendalough, a monastic sited founded by St. Kevin. Return to Dublin for an afternoon at leisure. Day 4: Thursday, September 17: Newgrange & Down _________________________ Drive through the Boyne Valley to Newgrange, Knowth and Loughcrew Cairns. Continue to the St. Patrick Centre in Downpatrick. Continue to Down to visit the Down Cathedral and the burial site of St. Patrick. Dinner and overnight in nearby Armagh. Day 5: Friday, September 18: Armagh, Belfast, Irish Sea, Scotland _______________ Visit Armagh, including St. Patrick’s Church of Ireland Cathedral, and Druim Saiseach. Continue to Belfast for a panoramic city tour including the Albert Memorial Clock Tower, the Opera House, City Hall, Crown Bar, Queens University, Shankill and Falls Road. Board the ferry to Ayrshire, Scotland for dinner and overnight. Day 6: Saturday, September 19: Isles of Mull and Iona __________________________ Excursion to the Isles of Mull and Iona by ferry. Time at leisure in Mull before another ferry to Iona, the center of Irish monasticism. Visit Iona Abbey before dinner and overnight. Day 7: Sunday, September 20: Isle of Iona ____________________________________ Attend Eucharist at Iona Abbey, followed by the remainder of the day at leisure for some personal reflection and exploration. Day 8: Monday, September 21: Stirling Castle and Edinburgh ___________________ Drive from the West to the East coast of Scotland to Stirling Castle. Visit the Church of the Holy Rude. Continue to Edinburgh for dinner and overnight. Day 9: Tuesday, September 22: Lindisfarne ___________________________________ Excursion to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, where England’s Christian heritage began. Visit Lindisfarne Priory, home of St. Cuthbert, and Lindisfarne Castle before returning to Edinburgh for dinner and overnight. Day 10: Wednesday, September 23: Edinburgh ________________________________ Visit Edinburgh, including Edinburgh Castle, the Honours of Scotland, the Royal Mile, St. Giles, and Thistle Chapel. Remainder of the day at leisure before dinner and overnight. Day 11: Thursday, September 24: Depart for Home ____________________________ We leave our hotel and head for the Edinburgh airport to return to the US.
