Resumen Este artículo pretende realizar una aproximación preliminar, descriptiva y esquemática a las tesis centrales de la polémica transición hacia el "Nuevo Socialismo del siglo XXI" en el contexto de la "Revolución Bolivariana" impulsada por el gobierno del presidente Hugo Chávez Frías en Venezuela. Reconocemos que la radicalidad del Nuevo Socialismo logrará convertirse en fuerza colectiva-material en tanto se articule con las necesidades, demandas y aspiraciones de sectores, grupos y clases subalternas, dominadas y excluidas, en pos de la superación de la globalización neoliberal capitalista mundial mediante alternativas históricas que permitan la reivindicación de la pluralidad de la experiencia histórico-cultural humana y el derecho de los pueblos a la preservación de su identidad, modo de pensar, conocer, sentir y vivir. Esperamos que con esta cartografía del debate se profundice el análisis de un tópico crítico para Venezuela y para calibrar si el nuevo socialismo es deseable, posible y viable para el mundo. A Debate that is Barely Commencing Abstract This article offers an initial, schematic approximation to the central points related to the polemical transition towards a twenty first-century socialism within the context of the Bolivarian revolution headed by Hugo Chávez. The author argues that its prospects depend on the capacity to articulate the needs, demands and aspirations of the dominated and excluded sectors, groups and classes, but with a clear commitment to vindicate the plurality and diversity of the accumulated human experiences, and a recognition of the right to preserve the different identities, and the ways of thinking, understanding, feeling and living. Key Words: Bolivarian Revolution, Socialism, Pluralism, Diversity, Venezuela. 1.- Introducción El presente artículo pretende realizar una aproximación preliminar, descriptiva y esquemática a las tesis centrales del polémico tópico de la transición hacia el "Nuevo socialismo del siglo XXI", en el contexto particular de las transformaciones de la denominada "Revolución Bolivariana", impulsada por las fuerzas sociales y políticas que apoyan el gobierno del presidente Hugo Chávez Frías en Venezuela. Esta aproximación esquemática a las formaciones de discurso sobre el "socialismo del siglo XXI", sobre todo de aquellas que se expresan con mayor sistematización teórico- crítica, reconoce de entrada que cualquier teoría logra convertirse en fuerza colectiva- material en tanto se articule y resulte apropiada para las necesidades, demandas y aspiraciones de sectores, grupos y clases subalternas, dominadas y excluidas. Los referentes teóricos adquieren fuerza activa en los procesos históricos en la medida en que se articulen decisivamente a cualquiera de los momentos de un proyecto estratégico, otorgándole un repertorio de símbolos, códigos y discursos de orientación a la acción colectiva. Como lo ha planteado una de las interpretaciones posibles de Marx, es a través de las necesidades radicales donde se hace radical una teoría crítica (Marx, 1843). En el caso del Nuevo Socialismo, su radicalidad depende de la superación de la globalización neoliberal como rasgo central de la organización del sistema económico capitalista mundial, a través de alternativas históricas deseables, posibles y viables. Sin embargo, una revolución radical necesita de una base de condiciones necesarias, de premisas históricas materiales en los pueblos, pues una teoría crítica no se realiza nunca más que en la medida en que es parte de la realización de las necesidades radicales de subjetividades transformadoras. No basta que las ideas transformadoras clamen por realizarse; es necesario que las realidades históricas mismas clamen por la realización de las ideas transformadoras. Si este ciclo de retroacciones entre teoría crítica y poder popular se rompe, el destino de las ideas es o alimentar la deformación intelectualista o propulsar acciones ciegas de orientación estratégica; y, por tanto, una ruptura entre el pensamiento y la acción. La convocatoria a construir el nuevo socialismo del siglo XXI ha replanteado los debates sobre caminos, tiempos y alianzas para forjar una sociedad no capitalista. Esta discusión se reactualiza cuando la mayor parte del progresismo se define como poscapitalista o posneoliberal, pero omite cualquier referencia explícita, así sea tangencial, al socialismo como alternativa histórica. El poder mediático ha logrado desacreditar cualquier imagen positiva de este proyecto estratégico, mientras las organizaciones populares buscan un norte para avanzar en las luchas sociales contrahegemónicas. Inclusive, los sectores intelectuales de izquierda, que en apariencia cuestionan radicalmente al mismo poder mediático, ven alineadas sus actitudes con las matrices dominantes de opinión, al censurar sutilmente cualquier referencia al socialismo por considerar que existe una tradición todopoderosa que construye equivalencias automáticas entre el significante socialismo y las experiencias despóticas del colectivismo oligárquico. La fijación político- cultural del significado del socialismo está sometida, en cambio, a procesos de lucha y articulación hegemónica (Laclau/Mouffe, 1987, 53-104). En gran medida, existe una responsabilidad silenciada en aceptar las significaciones dominantes de la nominación "socialista" a procesos históricos de transición poscapitalistas que se alejaron en cuestiones esenciales de los ejes de cualquier proyecto socialista, evaluados a la luz de las fuentes clásicas y de las expectativas de socialización y democratización de las matrices del poder social. Se confundió el mantener la esperanza de los "condenados de la tierra" con el apoyo a una mentira social manufacturada desde el ascenso del estalinismo hasta 1968, cuando se derrumbó estrepitosamente cualquier ilusión sobre el carácter socialista del campo soviético. Cómo han planteado Arrigí Hopkings y Wallerstein en (1968), se cierra un viejo ciclo y se abre un nuevo momento para los movimientos anti-sistémicos. Falta saber cuáles serían los parámetros teórico-críticos, los mapas de navegación de las nuevas alternativas por construir. En este orden de aclaraciones iniciales, planteamos una suerte de cartografía de los discursos-en-proceso sobre el llamado "Nuevo Socialismo del siglo XXI", lo cual supone una serie de limitaciones derivadas de un campo de estudio cuyos ámbitos de indagación están inconclusos, apenas en construcción, sometidos inclusive a los efectos de desarticulación-rearticulación propios de las luchas, enfrentamientos y prácticas hegemónicas /contra-hegemónicas, y, por tanto, en permanente innovación, cambio y transformación. Hablamos de Nuevo Socialismo del siglo XXI, incluyendo aquellas formaciones de discurso que plantean tanto una diferenciación con el viejo socialismo real, lo cual supone un saldo de inventario crítico, como su pertinencia para encarar los desafíos del siglo XXI, espacio-tiempo encrucijada donde se plantea aquella elección lanzada por Rosa Luxemburgo: O socialismo o Barbarie. 2.-Sobre la nominación del nuevo socialismo: Sobre la nominación de "socialismo del siglo XXI" existe una polémica que puede llevar a genealogías históricas que resultan de interés para despejar el asunto de las diversas "autorías", y las determinaciones de los campos intelectuales y políticos. Sobre las diversas "autorías" hay indicios que permiten afirmar que existen diversos "foros, espacios y redes" con carácter de rizoma, que constituyen los nodos-locus de enunciación político-cultural del ideario sobre el "socialismo del siglo XXI", y que, por tanto, no existe un foco exclusivo de enunciación del "nuevo socialismo". Un primer locus de autoría puede atribuírsele sin duda a Alexander V. Buzgalin en el texto El futuro del socialismo, quién preparó la edición en castellano realizada en Cuba en 2000, con la finalidad de "estar dirigido a aquellos que aprecian los valores de la democracia y del socialismo, que buscan vías de renovación de la teoría comunista y socialista." (Buzgalin, 2000, 7). Resalta del texto la centralidad de la democracia de bases y la autoconciencia crítica de que las severas restricciones de democracia, llevaron al traste la experiencia de transición postcapitalista en el campo soviético. La edición en lengua rusa de El futuro del socialismo de Alexander V. Buzgalin es del año 1996, el cual coincide temporalmente con lo expresado por el científico social mexicano- alemán Heinz Dieterich en relación con la "creación" del término. Llama la atención

    CULTURE MACHINE VOL 14 • 2013 RED PLENTY PLATFORMS Nick Dyer-Witheford Introduction: Red Plenty Shortly after the great Wall Street meltdown of 2008, a novel about obscure and remote historical events provided an unexpected node for discussion of the ongoing crisis. Francis Spufford’s Red Plenty (2010) offered a fictionalized account of the failed attempt by Soviet cyberneticians of the 1960s to establish a fully computerized system of economic planning. Mixing historical figures – Leonid Kantorovich, inventor of linear programming equations; Sergei Alexeievich Lebedev, pioneering Soviet computer designer; Nikita Khrushchev, First Secretary of the Communist Party – with imaginary ones, and setting them all in motion through Kremlin corridors, rural collectives, industrial factories and the Siberian science-city of Akademgorodok, Red Plenty succeeded in the unlikely mission of making cybernetic planning a page-turner. But the interest it attracted from economists, computer scientists and political activists was not solely due to its narrative of scientific endeavor and political intrigue; it also owed much to timing. Appearing amidst austerity and unemployment, as the world market still teetered on the brink of collapse, Red Plenty could be interpreted in different ways: a) as a cautionary tale that, recalling Soviet debacles, reminds us capitalism remains the only game in town, even if it has behaved badly (‘There Is No Alternative’); or b) contra- wise, as a recollection of unrealized potentialities, whispering not just the quaint altermondialiste slogan, ‘another world is possible’, but what David Harvey (2010: np) identifies as the more cogent and subversive possibility, that of ‘another communism’. This paper takes Spufford’s novel as a starting point from which to embark on an examination of the computing platforms that would be necessary for a contemporary ‘red plenty’.

An intensive two-year research effort indicated that a scientifically satisfying level of measuring the parameters involved can be achieved with seven power vectors. 2. La moderna sociedad capitalista que ha salido de entre las ruinas de la sociedad feudal, no ha suprimido las contradicciones de clase, por ende, el monopolio sigue vigente en todas las sociedades. Como contraparte a este modelo económico surgió el marxismo, un conjunto de movimientos: políticos, sociales, económicos y filosóficos derivados de la obra de Carlos Marx(1818-1883), para suprimir el capitalismo. Conforme pasaban los años surgían muchos pensadores que destacaban con sus teorías en cuanto a la lucha por la igualdad social, incidiendo un ideólogo alemán. Heinz Dieterich (1943). Él nos dice que hasta la actualidad, el género humano ha transitado las dos grandes vías de evolución que tenía a su disposición: el capitalismo y el socialismo histórico. Tampoco estos han logrado resolver los problemas de la humanidad, entre ellos: la desigualdad social. El socialismo del siglo XXI, según Dieterich es un socialismo revolucionario que bebe directamente de la filosofía y de la economía marxista. Como coideario del ideólogo alemán Heinz Dieterich en cuanto al socialismo del siglo XXI, mencionaré al político extinto gobernante venezolano.

First, I think it is important to note that despite a number of statements in defense of the National Endowment for Democracy and its activities in Venezuela, no one at the hearing -- neither Senators nor witnesses -- contested my statements regarding the NED's inappropriate and possibly illegal behavior. Specifically I pointed out that: (1) Our government has funded, and continues to fund, organizations headed by 1 people who were leaders of the military coup of April 2002. 1 Leopoldo Martinez, of Primero Justicia, a NED grantee through the International Republican Institute, was named as Finance Minister in the coup government. Leonardo Carvajal, Director of the Asamblea de Educación, a NED grantee, was Education Minister in the coup government. Rocío Guijarra, Director of CEDICE, a NED grantee, signed the actual coup decree. Wajner ([email protected]) This article suggests that transnational motives have remained key components of legitimation strategies for regional realignment in Latin America. Specifically, we assess the legitimation strategy of the late Venezuelan president Hugo Chávez and the associated political movement, Chavismo, as a recent case of transnational identity politics. Studies of Chavismo have stressed its role in the changing balance of power in early twenty-first-century Venezuela and the redrafting of global alliances, through a series of organizational moves and petrodollars. Combined with these political and economic boosters, Chavismo’s impact was sustained through a strategy that sought legitimation by drawing on earlier narratives of the solidarity of “Nuestramérica” (Our America), used in reshaping transnational networks within the region and beyond. This identity layer provided a basis for regional and international realignment and organizational creation, even if more recently it lost traction and became criticized for its unfulfilled promises and growing gap between rhetoric and implementation. Este artículo sugiere que la dimensión transnacional es un componente clave de las estrategias de legitimación para el realineamiento de estados y movimientos sociales en América Latina.
