And now this crowning act of Schilling comes as a shock, but as a vindication of the Board as well. ... We have tried for many months to make corrections here. In those earlier months we knew not the severity of the situation. We only saw here and there evidences of disloy­ alty and error, but now we are permitted to see something of the depths of that which was indicated by those surface manifestations.16
