From a small gathering of 40 artisan producers at Pier 92 to over 150 companies showing alongside 2,600+ exhibitors at NY NOW®, it’s clear to see its success. This growth is a testament that sourcing fair trade, ethically sourced products is not a trend but a way in which people are choosing to live their lives. Consumers are demanding to know where products are being made, by who, and in what working conditions. Purchasing of artisan made products is here to stay and as we enter our 7th edition of Artisan Resource, we’re proud to be able to continue to offer this unique platform for artisans to bring their goods to the Market and to you. New this August is the launch of our Buyer Matchmaking booth. Have you ever wondered which countries were best for sourcing woven sisal bowls, felt ornaments or palm baskets? Well wonder no more. Stop by the matchmaking booth at the rear of the 1000 aisle to meet with a staff member who can guide you in the right direction. Someone will be there ready to help you identify artisan groups best suited to your needs as well as provide tips on how to build successful relationships with these overseas vendors. We’re also excited to introduce a new display at the Market which not only represents Fair Trade companies throughout Artisan Resource, but throughout all of NY NOW. We have been working side-by-side this spring with members of both the Fair Trade Federation and the World Fair Trade Organization to bring you a beautiful display showcasing all FTF and WFTO members. Make sure to visit this beautiful display on level three at booth 1056. Finally, don’t leave before visiting our Market Incubator pavilion to meet with emerging artisan groups eager to make connections with US buyers looking to develop custom lines and explore production resources overseas. For a listing of companies represented this August see pages 6-9. On behalf of NY NOW, we thank you. Without your continued support, none of this would have been possible. It’s because of you, the buyer, that these artisans are able to grow their businesses and sustain their livelihoods. We hope you will take the time to get to know the companies listed throughout this directory. The rewards of working with these artisan producers will become immediately evident. As always, should you have any questions, suggestions, or just want to drop a note and say hello please don’t hesitate to reach out, I would love to hear from you!
