From 2006 till to date working as Director, State Bank of Pakistan Museum & Art Gallery Department, under which established the first monetary museum of Pakistan. Recent projects are consultancy for Sindh Police Museum, Oxford University Press Museum, Mukhi House Museum (historic house being converted into museum of recent past), Sukkur Archaeological Museum, N.A.Baluch personality Museum, wildlife museum, Museum of Recent Past and several others. Carried out several excavations in Baluchistan and Sindh, and Indus delta area, discovered an underwater city in Indus delta, as Co Director and Director, Head of the Pakistani Mission, with the foreign missions of France, Italy & Germany. Working as Director, Joint Archaeological Mission, Pakistan, Italian & French since 2011-till to date. Collaborative work done for many documentaries with international channels such as BBC, ZDF, CNN, Discovery, HBO, my work on Persian Mummy was documented by BBC, Horizon,” Mystery of the Persian Mummy”, & about Indus valley civilization for BBC education channel-4. Founding member Centre for Archaeological & Environmental Research under NGO Sindh Exploration & Adventure Society. Established a foundation “Terracotta, a project under Zohra Ibrahim foundation”, For the revival of dying arts and crafts with personal funding. Founding member Karachi Conference Foundation, for the carry out research on the city of Karachi and work for its cultural heritage (as founding member) SKILL HIGHLIGHTS Archaeologist Museulogist Researcher 2 CORE ACCOMPLISHMENTS As Director, National Museum of Pakistan, Karachi Re-opened the Quran gallery, at National Museum. Established a new gallery in the adjacent area of Quran gallery for the temporary exhibitions. Rearranged many galleries display to attract more visitors and arranged temporary exhibitions. Upcoming Museum Projects Sindh Police Museum, Karachi (October 2010-present) Planned and executing the development of the Sindh Police Museum, planned the theme of the Museum, exhibit design, planning and development of the Galleries, graphic design, selection and acquisition of the material for the Museum, scanning of old documents & photographs, interpretive panels, material for the interactive computer kiosks, artifacts case layouts, furniture detailing and artifacts layout, coordinating with the museum and technical personnel etc. Consultancy Work for other Museums (Voluntary) Oxford University Press Museum, Karachi (August 2011-2012) completed Created Museum Floor Plans, HVAC system, Lighting, etc. working in close contact with the Architect. Exhibit Planning and development of Museum Design & Layout, interpretive Panel design and layout, development of exhibit plan documents, project schedule, fabrication details and drawings, graphic designs, artifacts case layout, furniture details and artifacts installation. Devised special plan for the Manpower developed, under which trained 10 young interns in different fields of Museum for the first time in the history of Pakistan such as graphics, software development, Currency, stamps coinage and Art studies, conservation of paintings and coinage. 3 Devise special educational and recreational plans for the physically challenged children and visitors. Special educational activities are of prime importance for this Museum. Virtual Tour of the Museum, text written, and research. Research and writing for the material of the educational computer kiosks, the whole collection of the Museum is being digitized and stored in the kiosks for the reference of the visitors and specially students, with the photographs at 360 angles, and complete data, of the objects of the museum. Yearly summer camps are arranged for children which are getting very popular and hundreds of children are participating, the children are trained the dying arts such as calligraphy, papier-mâché, painting different recycled material. Trained Art School students in the technical drawing of the pottery, discovered during Archaeological survey of Sindh. Drafted the blueprint for the addition of a Children’s Gallery to the Museum. Constructed an auditorium for the activities of children education in the cultural History. Coordinated with the school administration in organizing various instructional programs for schools, arranging tours of school children to the museum for educational purpose and displaying the casting and modeling techniques with the help of models. Started collaboration educational program with Karachi University visual Art Dep’t. in which the student of Architecture & Graphics (final year) III year, students worked for the whole semester, and designed the Catalogue, labels, guide Maps, guide book etc. for the Museum. This way the works done by students don’t go waste as well the interest and sense of belonging was developed for the heritage in the students. Counseling different schools for their curriculum as well as educational videos to BBC and other televisions. Opened up and photographed the Victoria Museum Collection after 53 years lying in the wooden boxes, photographed the whole collection and now preparing a catalogue of the same. Planned collaborative work with the Visual Art Department, Karachi University, for the up gradation of the Museum labeling, posters, guide etc. May, 1999 Director, National Museum of Pakistan, to June, 2000 Dep’t. of Archaeology & Museums, Govt. of Pakistan 4 February, 1996 Curator, In charge of Numismatics Section, to March, 2002 National Museum, Karachi, Pakistan Contributed to a catalogue titled ‘Indo-Greek Coins Collection in the Taxila Museum, Pakistan’ that was initially compiled by Dr. Walton Dobbins, an American Numismatist; also did the editing of the original manuscript, expanding the work with addition of certain details (viz. size, depth, find-spot etc.). Compiled a catalogue on ‘Indo-Greek Coins in the National Museum of Pakistan, Karachi’ and carried out a scientific analysis of coins which is a unique effort in Pakistan. Rearranged the Numismatic Section, classified and catalogued the coins in the collection of the museum. April 1988 Assistant Curator, National Museum of Pakistan, to March, 1989 Karachi, Pakistan Rearranged the Reserve Collection of the Archaeology Section of the museum and catalogued the material. Prepared a ‘Catalogue of Persian Pottery’, indexed and classified the material. Supervised the expansion of the Ethnological Gallery of the National Museum and added objects from the reserve collection of the museum Worked on the Mughal Miniature Paintings in the reserve collection of the National Museum, Karachi as Master’s student and currently, revising the old work extensively. EXPERIENCE IN THE FIELD OF ARCHAEOLOGY — A DESCRIPTIVE ACCOUNT As Assistant Director, Exploration & Excavation Branch, Karachi Planned numerous excavation and exploration tours of which, the explorations in Kanrach and Saruna valleys in Baluchistan province of Pakistan deserve a mention.
