All previously known Bulgarian slugs from the Arionidae, Milacidae, Limacidae and Agriolimacidae families have been discussed in this paper. It is based on many years of individual field research, examination of all accessible private and museum collections as well as on critical analysis of the published data. The taxa from families to species are sup plied with synonymy, descriptions of external morphology, anatomy, bionomics, distribution and all records from Bulgaria. It also includes the original key to all species. The illustrative material comprises 118 drawings, including 116 made by the author, and maps of localities on UTM grid. The occurrence of 37 slug species was ascertained, including 1 species (Tandonia pirinia- na) which is quite new for scientists. The occurrence of other 4 species known from publications could not bo established. Basing on the variety of slug fauna two zoogeographical limits were indicated. One separating the Stara Pianina Mountains from south-western massifs (Pirin, Rila, Rodopi, Vitosha. Mountains), the other running across the range of Stara Pianina in the^area of Shipka pass. INTRODUCTION Like other Balkan countries, Bulgaria is an area of Palearctic especially interesting in respect to malacofauna. So far little investigation has been carried out on molluscs of that country and very few papers on slugs (mostly contributions) were published. The papers by B a b o r (1898) and J u r in ić (1906) are the oldest ones.

During my stay I collected materials for the Rijksmuseum van Natuurlijke Historie at Leiden, paying special attention to the land- and freshwater Mollusca. This paper contains the first results of the examination of the Mollusca collected. My Danish friends Dr. Gunnar Thorson and Dr. Helge Volsøe gener- ously put at my disposal the non-marine Mollusca they collected during their stay in the Canaries. When the material has been worked up, duplicates will be deposited in the Zoological Museum at Copenhagen. I am indebted to several persons who helped me in various ways in the investigations here published. Prof. Dr. N. Hj. Odhner (Stockholm) very kindly put at my disposal a MS list of all the Mollusca of the Canary Islands and their distribution, which he had compiled for private use. Mr. Hugh Watson (Cambridge) never failed to help me by examining or lending specimens, and in detailed letters gave me the benefit of his great experience.

Abstract A study of the land and freshwater molluscs (malacofauna) in the HeidelbergCement quarry of Loën (Belgium) has been realized from April to August 2016 by a team of members of Natagora Low Meuse Valley (in French, Natagora Basse Meuse = N.B.M.) and of the Belgian Malacological Society (in French, Société Belge de Malacologie = S.B.M.). This study, based on 7 exploring days, covers 32 stations located in the quarry, corresponding to 7 kinds of biotopes. The result is that the presence of a 38 molluscs species has been established, with more precisely 28 land snails, 9 slugs and 1 freshwater gastropod. Only 1 freshwater species has been observed because of the difficulty of exploring the ponds and lake banks and the impossibility to use the services of a team of experimented divers. Because these poorly known animals are indeed indicators of environmental health, these results show clearly the biodiversity importance of a closed and protected area such this quarry of Loën.

Férussac, 1822), the three-band garden slug, is originally native to the Iberian Peninsula (Spain, Portugal, and the Balearic Islands); however, it has been spread by human activities to many other parts of the world. There is no distributional record of the slug in Turkey to date. The species was recorded for the first time in Turkey during a biological survey carried out in the accommodation area of Dicle University (Diyarbakır) in October 2017. Some of the slugs were transferred to the laboratory for their morphological determination and dissection. Notably, more than 50 species of slugs dwell on Turkish lands and most of them are distributed in the Northern Anatolia Region. A. valentianus is observed here for the first time on Turkish lands. The purpose of the study is to present the first record of A. valentianus in Turkey and contribute to the checklist of Turkish gastropods. Key words: Ambigolimax valentianus, three-band garden slug, new record, Turkey In Turkish territories, gastropod species with close and under fallen logs, stones, and soils; and in shady relationships to the European, Turanian, Caucasian, and locations with lots of vegetation (Wiktor et al., 2000).
