EXAMPLE PROGRAM DRESDEN D R E S D E N , YOUR DESTINATION – 2 INSPIRATION DRESDEN Cultural Center, Semper Opera House, Florence of the Elbe, Canaletto’s view – All these stand for Dresden. Dresden is a very beautiful, light spirited city, especially in summer, when you can appreciate the serene setting of the historic center. Although Dresden is larger than Munich when measured by area, the historic center is quite compact and walkable. Dresden offers attractions in great variety. No book about the history of architecture can miss mentioning the Dresden Zwinger. The Frauenkirche Church, Semper Opera House and Royal Palace as well as many other historical monuments and ensembles determine the image of the city. The saucy angels from Raphael’s “The Sistine Madonna” make publicity for Dresden’s art collections in the whole world. Magnificent promenades on the bank of the Elbe, interesting museums and institutions, industrial monuments, charming details — Dresden has a lot for you to discover. 3 WELCOME DINNER SOPHIENKELLER In the historical arches of the Taschenberg Palace, right in front of the famous “Zwinger“, you will be abducted into the historical world of the 18th century and life of Augustus II the Strong. The kitchen of the Sophie Cellar is primarily regional with lots of house-made specialties. The atmosphere is cozy and informal, very relaxed. 5 ITALIENISCHES DÖRFCHEN The „Italienische Dörfchen“ restaurant is situated in the historical center at „Theaterplatz“ plaza. When the Italian architect, Gaetano Chiaveri, was building the catholic church of the Royal Court, the workers and artists, who were also Italian, lived nearby the site in small houses. These houses where quickly called the Italian village – Italienisches Dörfchen. The location now consists of a terrace, beer garden and 4 rooms, each with splendid décor, unique themes and Elbe views. Enjoy traditional Saxon cuisine and Italian specialties. 6 TOURS EXPLORE DRESDEN Dresden is a small jewel world famous for its plethora of historical buildings and charming landscape. You will be hard-pressed to find a place that exudes a greater old-city atmosphere. During this overview tour guests will learn about the Frauenkirche Church, Semper Opera House and Royal Palace as well as many other famous sights. But our guides will enlighten guests also with the story behind Neustadt’s interconnected courtyards that artists have transformed into an open-air labyrinth with romantic bars, boutique shops and craft workshops. 8 TOUR OF THE NEUSTADT The Neustadt district is one of the most original of the historic Dresden. It has retained its character over the years, consisting of elegant boulevards and narrow streets, hidden courtyards and patrician villas. One of the symbols of the neighborhood is its 5 courtyards transformed by artists into an open-air maze with cafes, shops and craft workshops. Another must see is the Pfund's Molkerei, registered in the Guinness Book of World Records since 1997 as "The most beautiful dairy shop in the world, with 247.90 square meters of hand-painted tiles." It also boasts a vast selection of cheeses. 9 GLÄSERNE MANUFAKTUR The "Gläserne Manufaktur" (Transparent Factory) is the name of the Volkswagen factory that blends homogenously with the city landscape right in the heart of Dresden. This 286 million euro factory was designed by the famous architect Gunter Henn and opened in 2002. The name refers to both the transparency of the building and the transparency of the production processes, which can be followed live during a visit. The factory is dedicated mainly to the final production stages of the Phaeton luxury car. Guests will learn more about the open-to-view assembly process during a guided tour. 10 CARRIAGE RIDE As an alternative to a walking tour, we suggest a ride that encompasses the flair and spirit of Dresden: a carriage ride. Guests will be divided into groups of 10, each with an English speaking guide and a carriage (a 20 person carriage is also available). During the tour through the historical city center there will be various stops to take in the sights or go in for visits, e.g. at the Frauenkirche, Zwinger or the inner courtyard of the Residence castle 11 B O AT T O U R To get a deeper insight of the city we would proposes a tour along the Elbe, one of the most famous and major rivers in Central Europe. The tour takes guests through some of the most beautiful scenery in eastern Germany. Guests will discover the five famous Elbe bridges, cross the old city with the Frauenkirche Church and enjoy a truly striking skyline from the world-famous Canaletto perspective. 12 MEISSEN AND THE PORCELAIN FACTORY If you have the time we would absolutely recommend a visit to Meissen, one of the oldest towns in Saxony. It was once home to the local bishop and has a huge medieval cathedral and adjoining castle. It is also the place where the first European porcelain was invented. The china factory is still in working order and worth a visit; it is also a great place to have lunch. After lunch, we recommend visiting the Castle of Proschwitz which is now an excellent winery. 13 CASUAL DINNER VEN RESTAURANT The VEN restaurant is located in the INNSIDE Hotel in the city centre of Dresden. Enjoy a set or an à la carte menu in a relaxing atmosphere. Be impressed by delicious and artfully-prepared dishes with surprising combinations of local and international flavors. The VEN restaurant in the historic old town center with quiet inner courtyard is the perfect venue for culinary highlights and elegant events. 15 ALTE MEISTER The restaurant Alte Meister was opened in 2001 and is the restaurant of the museum Alt Meister, just next to the famous Semperoper. Guests can enjoy their meal in summer on the balcony or the big terrace but of course also inside the restaurant. The kitchen is international and creative and the menu is different every season. The restaurant has a capacity for 85 pax and in summer there terrace offers an additional space for 80 pax. 16 COSELPALAIS The Grand Café Coselpalais, which was built in 1765, is located alongside the famous church Frauenkirche. It’s building is perhaps the strongest representation of the baroque era in Dresden; while the cuisine focuses on light German and French dishes with Saxony wines. The restaurant consists of 5 large salons, each with a fascinating theme – for example excellent pastries are served in the Porcelain Salon on original Meissen Porcelain. The baroque ambiance of the location on the historic Neumarkt Square, with a view of Dresden’s Frauenkirche, makes this restaurant to a very special spot. 17 GALA DINNER ALBERTINUM The Albertinum Museum counts as one of the top 15 most important museums in the world – it houses masterpieces from 18th century Romanticism to Contemporary art of Gerhard Richter. For your special events the Albertinum can be rented to host galas and receptions with incorporated small tours through collections. The light courtyard seats up to 800 guests and due to high tech equipment, gobos can be projected onto the 17 meter walls. Excite guests with this modern yet classy location! 19 OSTRAPARK This massive industrial complex with multiple halls, close to the Dresden Convention Center, serves as the perfect blank canvas to stage galas, product presentation and more. The areas are able to be divided by moveable walls to create sectioned spaces and design your event. The Capitol boasts a 1600 sqm area, the Erlwein Forum a 4300 sqm area, and a open air field with 40000 sqm dimensions to stage concerts and events. 20 RESIDENZ SCHLOSS The Museum Residenz Schloss situated in the old town of Dresden, presents three spaces to host your exclusive event. The Dukes Gallery an elongated red room with room for 200 guests for lavish banquets. The historical Grüne Gewölbe space, fitting 40 guests amongst the 18th century jewels and marble floors. Lastly, the magnificent Schlosshof, an airy inner courtyard with glass ceilings fitting 310 guests for gala dinners. Light illumination elevates the elegant feeling of dining in a museum! 21 SCHLOSS ALBRECHTSBERG The castle of Albrechstberg, built in 1854, today provides a noble atmosphere for banquets, balls, conferences, presentations and award presentations. Glamorous, meticulously restored rooms and spacious sun terraces, surrounded by an idyllic park will be sure to make your event unforgettable. Groups can reserve the entire castle or some of its splendid rooms. In 2004, this Elbe valley landscape made the UNESCO world Heritage list for its cultural, architectural and historical significance. 22 VERKEHRSMUSEUM Enjoy a beautiful dinner at the Verkehrsmuseum in Dresden, directly located in the center of the historic town. The famous Frauenkirche is just next to this impressive building, a special spot in town. The museum has a beautiful big space called “Lichthof”, where we can set up an impressive dinner for your guests. The surroundings can be perfectly used for the reception, where guest have the opportunity to get an insight into the museums exhibition.
