Unit 8 God Takes Care of Me Lesson 1: A Whale of a Tale Lesson 2: Daniel and the Lions’ Den Lesson 3: Paul and Silas Lesson 4: Elijah and the Ravens Lesson 1 A Whale of a Tale God takes care of us every day. Sometimes in little ways we don’t even notice. Sometimes God does amazing things to take care of us too! Everyone say “God takes care of me!” In the Bible, God took care of a man named Jonah. Jonah was a prophet of God. Prophets tell God’s people messages from God. God tells prophets what to tell the people. One day, God gave Jonah a message for the wicked people of Nineveh. They would be punished if they did not stop doing bad things. Jonah didn’t want to go to Ninevah with God’s message. He got on a boat that was going far away. story continues on the next page 2 3 Lesson 1 A Whale of a Tale Jonah sailed away on the boat, but God sent a big storm. Jonah knew the storm would sink the boat if he didn’t get out of the boat. To stop the storm, the sailors threw Jonah over the side of the boat. Everyone hold your breath and try to swim! But Jonah did not drown in the waves! Jonah prayed to God. God sent a whale to swallow Jonah. Jonah stayed alive in the belly of the whale for three days and three nights. Everyone hold up three fingers! God took care of Jonah and kept him safe. Jonah promised to go to Ninevah and give the people God’s message. story continues on the next page 4 5 Lesson 1 A Whale of a Tale God sent the whale back to shore. The whale spit Jonah out on the beach. Jonah went straight to Nineveh and gave the people God’s message. The people told God that they were sorry for being bad. Even though Jonah disobeyed God, God took care of Jonah and gave him a second chance. In the end, Jonah did what God asked him to do. Did you know that God takes care of you too? Just like God kept Jonah safe in the whale’s belly, God will take care of you too! Everyone shout “God takes care of me!” stop the story 6 7 Lesson 2 Daniel and the Lions’ Den God takes care of us every day. Sometimes in little ways we don’t even notice. Sometimes God does amazing things to take care of us too! Everyone say “God takes care of me!” In the Bible, God took care of a man named Daniel. Daniel was the servant of a king. King Darius liked Daniel so much that he planned to put Daniel in charge of the whole kingdom. Some of the other servants were jealous of Daniel. They had a plan to get Daniel in trouble. They made a law that said you couldn't pray to God. Daniel loved God. He kept right on praying to God three times a day. Everyone get on your knees and bow your heads just like Daniel did. story continues on the next page 8 9 Lesson 2 Daniel and the Lions’ Den The jealous servants told King Darius that Daniel was breaking the law. King Darius was sad because he liked Daniel. But Daniel had to be punished for breaking the king’s law. King Darius ordered Daniel to be thrown into a big den of hungry lions! Everyone roar like a hungry lion! God sent an angel to shut the lions’ mouths. They couldn’t hurt Daniel. God took care of Daniel! The next morning, King Darius saw that God kept Daniel safe! He praised God for taking care of Daniel. God will take care of us just like He did Daniel. Everyone shout “God takes care of me!” stop the story 10 11 Lesson 3 Paul and Silas God takes care of us every day. God can help us when we are in trouble. Sometimes in small ways. Sometimes in big ways! Everyone say “God takes care of me!” In the Bible, Paul and Silas were in big trouble. They needed God to take care of them! Paul and Silas loved to tell other people about Jesus. One day, Paul and Silas were arrested for telling about Jesus. Paul and Silas were beaten and thrown in jail. The soldiers put chains on their wrists and feet. They were thrown in a cold dark jail cell. Everyone point to your wrists and ankles where the chains were. story continues on the next page 12 13 Lesson 3 Paul and Silas Paul and Silas knew they weren’t alone. They knew God would take care of them—even in jail. They began to pray and sing songs. The other people in the jail listened to them. Suddenly, God made the ground shake. It shook so much that the doors of the prison opened. God made the chains fall off Paul and Silas’ hands and feet. The next day, Paul and Silas got out of prison. God rescued Paul and Silas from jail. Did you know that God will take care of you too when you’re in trouble? God takes care of you because He loves you that much! Everyone shout “God takes care of me!” stop the story 14 15 Lesson 4 Elijah and the Ravens God takes care of us all the time. Sometimes in little ways we don’t even notice. Sometimes God does amazing things to take care of us too! Everyone say “God takes care of me!” In the Bible, God took care of a prophet named Elijah in an amazing way. Prophets tell God’s people messages from God. God tells prophets what to tell the people. One day, God told Elijah to take a message to wicked King Ahab. He was a very bad king. Elijah told King Ahab that God would keep it from raining for a long time. It wouldn’t rain again until Elijah told it to. story continues on the next page 16 17 Lesson 4 Elijah and the Ravens The king was very angry. The king told Elijah he was going to kill him. So God told Elijah to go hide near the mountains. Even though it got very dry without any rain, God led Elijah to go live near a stream of water that didn’t dry up. Every morning and evening God sent big black birds called ravens. The ravens gave Elijah bread and meat to eat. Everyone flap your arms like bird wings! God took care of Elijah and gave food and water to him. God will give you everything you need and will take care of you! Everyone shout “God takes care of me!” stop the story 18 19 .
