Public transportation : Our school is located near MRT Taipei 101/World Trade Center (Red Line), XiangShan (Red Line), Taipei City Hall (Blue Line) and LiuZhangLi (Brown Line) stations and SongShan station (MRT Green Line and TRA station). TMU provides shuttle services to all without Taipei 101/World Trade Center station. Buses run every 10 minutes between the City Hall station and TMU , LiuZhangLi shuttle bus runs every 15 minutes, while buses run every 20 minutes among SongShan station, MRT XiangShan station, and TMU. The shuttle bus stops are in the square next to Health Science Building . Or, you can walk to MRT Taipei 101/World Trade Canter station within 5 minutes. You can also take buses on ZhuangJing Rd. (Line 22 and Blue 5 ), or on WuSing St. ( M7 ) 3. Entertainment : TMU is within walking distance to the biggest shopping area in Taipei. In ten minutes, one could arrive at Vieshow Cinema with many department stores and several restaurants.

Chiropractic Therapy First-hand Experience

Chiropractic is a form of alternative medicine that focuses on diagnosis and treatment of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, especially the spine. In Taiwan, chiropractic therapy also combines traditional Chinese medicine, and it can solve health issues without taking medicine, having an injection or undergoing a surgery. Sounds amazing, doesn’t it? We have invited chiropractor, Dr. Yu-Tzu, Cheng, to introduce this special therapy to us. He will tell us the basic knowledge about chiropractic therapy and also provides practical experience. Let’s solve our spinal problems and have fun together!

Hospital Tour

Taipei Medical University Hospital (TMUH) is one of the most important hospitals in Taipei. We choose some of our dominant medical centers to introduce to you. The first stop Center for Reproductive Medicine. There are two sections, the laboratory and the center in TMUH. The center helped more than 20,000 infertile couple in the last two decades. Definitely, the advanced medical facilities and state-of-art service will amaze you!

Next, we will visit Health Management Center. Following the concept that “Prevention is better than treatment,” the center’s goal is to promote health care and to raise public awareness of health management. The center provides a convenient and comfortable environment, a professional medical team, private rooms, and highly effective and accurate procedures.

Last stop: Comprehensive Weight Management Center. Obesity is strongly related to diabetes, hypertension, etc., which is an issue we cannot neglect. In this center, we can observe how to help patient lose weight effectively through some sports program and facilities. You may wonder: What’s the difference between this center and some regular GYMs? Let’s figure it out during this tour!

Yongkang Street & Shida Night Market

Yongkang Street is probably the most famous street in Taipei. This area is well-known for its various choices for food and drinks. Yongkang Street and its neighboring alleys are home to more than 30 operations, not to mention the night market carts and independent merchants that line the streets selling all types of food, including unique fusion dishes unique to Yong Kang. As for Shida night market, it’s located in one of the most prosperous zone in Taipei, the Shida area. This area of the city is well known for its alternative and trendy style, housing several rock bars, cafés, and restaurants around the area, which isn’t far from the National Taiwan Normal University.

1. 思慕席 Mango Smoothie

It’s always awesome to have some freezing dessert in summer. Smoothie serves high quality mango shake, using the best breed of mango, Ai-wen mango, which will definitely amaze you. COST: about 100~200NTD per person 11

2. 天津蔥抓餅 Tian-jin green onion pancake

It’s a kind of snack derives from the northern China. First, you mix the dough with chopped green onion, and smash it into flat pieces. Next, fry it in a pan and add some eggs or ham, and ta-da—— one of the best street snacks is done! When you visit Yongkang Street, you have to give it a try. COST: 30~50NTD per person

3. 臭豆腐 stinky tofu

Deep fried tofu served with marinated vegetable, stinky tofu is famous for its smell. Regardless of this awkward feature, it’s so delicious that you must try some. COST: about 50NTD per person

4. 師大鹹酥雞 Shida deep fried chicken nuggets

You can buy this food in any night market in Taiwan, but this one is special. Unlike others seasoned the nuggets with pepper and salt, the owner use garlic, which provides an intense favor. Come and grab some to eat! COST: 50NTD per person

5. 許記生煎包 steamed bun with filling

Traditional Taiwanese bun with fresh cabbage and sesame flavoured pork stuffing. COST: 7NTD per bun

OSCE: Experiencing Clinical Skills

The clinical skill education is intended to help develop and expand a clinical skill for medical students. Through nasogastric intubation, urethral catheterization, EKG, and arterial blood gas, we hope that everyone can obtain a rough, but valuable outline of basic clinical techniques.

The National Palace Museum

We earnestly invite all participants to explore and admire the Taiwanese culture and historic paths by heading to the National Palace Museum and the Shilin Presidential Residence. The National Palace Museum is home to the world’s greatest collections of Chinese art and antiquities, which were once reserved only for the private pleasure of emperors thousands of years ago. However, it is your chance now to have a feast for the eyes, to take a look at all those amazing stuffs that you would never ever see in other places, which represent diverse styles in different dynasties. Wait until you start the exploration, sighs of admiration would echo repeatedly through your brain.

Taipei 101

101 stories above the ground and 5 stories below, the 508-meter-tall Taipei 101 is an engineering feat that’s expected to bring Taipei to the world. Not only committed to the highest building standards regarding construction hardware, Taipei 101 also pursues world-class software in terms of operation and management. This time, we are going to Taipei 101 Mall to enjoy a shopping experience in comfort and total relaxation.

By the way, don’t forget to visit Taipei 101 Observatory by taking Guinness Record-breaking high-speed pressurized elevators. In only 37 seconds, you may reach the 89th Observation Floor, which offers a commanding view of the city and Taipei Basin at all directions. The Observatory is equipped with high-power binoculars, drinks bar, image services, pre-recorded audio tour guides in seven languages, & souvenir shops. Also, The world’s largest damper, weighing 660 metric.

Jiufen & Miaokou Night Market

Jiufen, located northeast of Taipei and east of Keelung, is one of the most popular sightseeing locations in Taiwan that represents the uniqueness and originality of Taiwan. It used to be a gold-mining site. In 1890, gold was first discovered in Jiufen while constructing the new Taipei-Keelung railway, resulting in the gold rush which gave a boost to the village's development and reaching to its peak during the Japanese era. The Gold Ecological Museum presents the history of mining gold, and the physical characteristic of gold, also featuring mining tunneling experience, environmental education, and an ecological park.

Today, Jiufen features an old, nostalgic street that is full of local snack vendors and special accessory stores. Various foods such as “Yu Yuan” (taro balls), fried meat balls, steamed taro cakes, and herbal rice cakes are the Jiufen’s specialties. In addition, Chinese teahouses in this area are also very popular for both local and foreign tourists. The beautiful sceneries attract many tourist to come drink tea and enjoy the night view.

The Miaokou Night Market is located adjacent to Keelung Harbour and forms the downtown area of the city. The lanterns along the street lead you to the most famous temple in Keelung, the Dianji temple. In the past, those who visited the temples would go early in the morning and find themselves hungry after their visit; therefore, individuals decided to fill the demand and began opening food stalls that operated near the entrance of the temple. From then on, people would grab breakfast, afternoon and late night snacks at these convenient stalls. Gradually, the number of stalls increased, eventually developing into a night market.

Day 5 May 24th (Sun.)

Pinching Clay Bones ft. Sewing Pigskin

As medical students, we’re always memorizing incomprehensible knowledge in the textbooks without practicing in our daily lives. Gradually, learning will be less and less interesting for us. To prevent this kind of situation from happening, we designed the following lectures and DIY games, trying to make what we learn alive. For the first part, we will review the structure of human bones pinch our own clay bones. Some competitions will be held as well! After this lesson, we’re able to solidify knowledge of bone effortlessly! As for the second part, we will preview the skills of surgical suture by sewing pigskin. We sincerely hope these lectures will be a lifelong memory for all of you ☺

Longshan Temple & Ximending

The most prominent historical landmark in Taiwan,

the CKS Memorial Hall was erected in honor and memory of the former President of the Republic of China, Chiang Kai-shek. The monument, surrounded by a park, is situated at the east end of Liberty Square. The structure is framed on the north and south by the National Theater and National Concert Hall. The guard mounting ceremony which takes place in regular intervals is worthwhile of watching.

The famous Longshan temple is situated in

the city’s oldest neighborhood, Wanhua. Longshan Temple is the spiritual heart of Taipei. There are over 100 gods and goddesses worshipped in the rear and side halls. It’s a place where generations of locals have come to seek good fortune, health, and even guidance on who to marry. If you want to experience the true Taiwanese style, you can’t miss Longshan Temple.

Different from the religious atmosphere of Longshan Temple, Ximending is the source of Taiwan's fashion, subculture, and Japanese culture and has a host of many clubs and pubs surrounding the area. This area is in the northeastern part of Wanhua District in Taipei and it is also the most important consumer district in the Western District of Taipei.

Besides fashion and subculture,

Ximending is home to several historical sites, such as the Red House Theater and Nishi & Higashi Honganji Temples. Can’t imagine the place combines the fashion with the tradition? Go to Ximending to enjoy wonderful night.

Chinese Medicine Lab- Cassia Seed Tea DIY

Cassia is a popular name among the plants that are effective in Chinese medicines. Cassia seed tea is known to relieve excessive heat in the body, especially the liver as it is slightly cold in nature. It is also beneficial for alleviating hypertension, constipation, blood pressure and stress. In the lab we introduce this renowned herbal tea, and we will prepare it from raw mixture of cassia seeds. Through various preparing procedures, finally we will have a nicely packed Cassia teabag for you to take back and enjoy at home!

BRAIN 2.0

BRAIN 2.0 is just like a live TV game show! We’ve prepared different types of interesting games for you guys. There’s no better way to examine what you have learned during the week than a fun competition! In the process, you get to review everything and know more about both Taiwanese and Australian cultures. It’s going be a wonderful ending for all the academic activities and it’s definitely going to create ever-lasting memories.

Huashan 1914 Creative Park now serves as Taipei’s most important creative arts center and a hosting ground for Taiwan’s most significant cultural activities. It is not only the heart of Taiwan’s creative pulse, but also a bridge to a unique architectural past.

Besides the cultural activities and exhibitions, Huashan 1914 Creative Park is also an ideal place to have pleasant picnic and afternoon tea. It would be fantastic to enjoy sunshine, food, and laughter in a warm lazy afternoon.
