I hope I may be forgiven the wave of culture shock which hit me when gothic spires resolved themselves into minarets, Dragon Boats on the Pearl River into oil tankers on the Bosphoms, and I first heard the muezzins. That wave has now started to subside. This "Newsletter" is my first account of what I have begun to see. I confess at once to a healthy diffidence that I see very well yet. Medieval scholars commonly began any work with an apology for being unequal to the task at hand, and I am happy to follow in that tradition. I have only actively explored Istanbul through the end of summer: the short space, in fact, from the ripening of wild blackberry along the Bosphoms to the first appearance this week of portable charcoal stoves for roasting chestnuts in front of the Blue Mosque. So I am very wary of capsule judgments in such a complicated place, or claiming authority prematurely for what I observe. But what sort of authority? What sort of observations? Embarking on a fellowship as gorgeous as this, offering (practically demanding) release from the cathedocracy, the tyranny of degrees and academic trade- unionism, or the conventional wisdom of the policy-planners all the worlds I've known, in short I would be sorry to find I had confmed my "Newsletters" to news, or foreign policy commentary, or "current events" at all.

This is the second time this competition is held in conjunction with the FINA World Championships, also staged in the Magyar capital from July 14 - 30. Our hosts are ready to deliver a great event and will provide the best possible conditions to the thousands of participants in this competition. This will certainly reinforce the traditional values of the Masters Move- ment – friendship, understanding and fitness. This significant change – introduced since the 2015 edition in Kazan (RUS) - gave additional visibility to the Masters athletes and allows, for many of them, to witness the performances of the elite stars in the pool. This major event – in fact, the biggest championships organised by FINA in terms of participation – is certainly a milestone for those who devoted part of their lives to their passion for one of the five FINA disciplines: swimming, diving, water polo, synchronised swimming and open water swimming. With the FINA World Masters Championships, we want to prove that even when retired from the high level competition, or just practicing sport for leisure, our athletes are still capable to delight us with their performances. Thousands of athletes, from 25 years old up to 90 or more, confirm that the aquatic vocation is still there no matter the age.

    Anna Tüskés Masonic Works in the Helikon Library of the Festetics Palace in Keszthely Books were very important for the Festetics family settled down in Keszthely in the second half of the 1740s: the bookstore had been created in Kristóf Fest- etics’s palace.1 From 1782 Count György Festetics (I.) had been the lord of the entail, he was one of the most outstanding personalities of the Hungarian En- lightenment and had a whole annexe built to his library between 1799–1801.2 The library room can be found with a small adjoining cabinet library in the south wing of the palace. In the many ten thousand-volume library can equally be found works of antique authors, Hungarian literature and science, philo- sophical literature from the era of Enlightenment, the latest economic studies at the time of acquisition, as well as a significant newspaper and journal mate- rial. The library of Keszthely is a baronial library so the collection of books and the motivation of reading were combined when the books were purchased.3 György Festetics studied at the Collegium Theresianum in Vienna between 1768–1775.4 He had well-trained Jesuit teachers, such as the professor of philos- ophy, Italian language and agronomics, Lajos Mitterpacher, the mathematician and physicist Pál Makó, the professor of Italian language, civil and military architecture, János Izzo, the poet, bibliographer, insect expert Michael Denis and many others.5 During his studies, Festetics perfectly learned German, Latin, French, Italian and English. Áttekinti a tűzről megjelent korabeli híreket, majd az esemény tálalását a politikai propagandában.     TRAIN : The Danube Express JOURNEY : Central European Classics (Budapest to Prague) Journey Duration : Upto 8 Days Day 1 - Budapest Arrivals day in Budapest where you will be met and transferred to the five-star Four Seasons Hotel Gresham Palace for a two-night stay. Enjoy a welcome reception dinner in the elegant surrounds of this art nouveau landmark, where you can meet your fellow travellers on this highly anticipated journey. Day 2 - Budapest Budapest is actually two cities separated by the Danube. The old city of Buda and the imposing Royal Palace, dominates the city with stunning views across the Danube to the commercial heart of Pest. Our city tour includes the Royal Palace, St. Mathias Church and a panoramic view of the city from Gellert Hill. We will also see the Citadel, the Opera House, St Stephen’s Cathedral, Heroes Square and the City Park. The rest of the day is at leisure so you can stroll along the banks of the Danube, visit the historic Great Market Hall with its endless variety of delicious foods and wines or head to one of the city’s famous thermal baths for a rejuvenating dip. Alternatively you can relax at the hotel and indulge in the hotel’s luxurious spa with infinity-edge pool or make use of the state-of-the-art fitness centre. This evening we will enjoy a beautiful dinner cruise along the Danube. Day 3 - Keszthely After breakfast join the Golden Eagle Danube Express at Nugyati station after a reception in the Imperial Waiting Room and head to Keszthely on the western shore of Lake Balaton.
