Disney Cruise Line Stage Show Creates a Twist on Cinderella's Disney Cruise Line Stage Show Creates a Twist on Cinderella’s Happily Ever After Story CELEBRATION, Fla. — With a swish of a wand, several Bibbidi Bobbidi Boos and the turning of storybook pages, the enchanting stage show aboard Disney Cruise Line — “Twice Charmed: An Original Twist on the Cinderella Story” — immerses audiences in a new rendition of the happily ever after story of Cinderella and her Prince Charming. Giving guests an opportunity to experience the story of Cinderella in a whole new way, the Broadway-style show made its theatrical debut in the Walt Disney Theatre aboard the Disney Magic cruise ship. With the story beginning where the original ended — during the wedding celebration of Cinderella and Prince Charming — good fortune takes a turn when a new character, evil Fairy Godfather Franco DiFortunato, enters the picture on behalf of Lady Tremaine, Cinderella’s stepmother. Granting Lady Tremaine’s wish, he sends the family back in time to break Cinderella’s glass slipper, thus destroying her chances of marrying the prince and writing a whole new story for Cinderella. The 52-minute production features a rich musical score with six original compositions and two classic Disney songs including the beloved “Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo” and “A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes.” With an accomplished cast, lavish costumes, elaborate set designs and special effects that cleverly turn back the pages of time, the combination seamlessly transitions the show from scene to scene. As Disney’s largest theatrical production ever aboard, the show includes a repertory cast of 21 performers who are well-versed in acting, singing and dancing. This cast not only performs “Twice Charmed,” but is also responsible for the two other main stage shows performed in the Walt Disney Theatre throughout the cruise —“Tangled: The Musical” and “Disney Dreams…An Enchanted Classic.” There are an additional nine crew members who perform technical roles backstage as part of these three shows helping to bring the Walt Disney Theatre to life. With 977 seats, the theatre is magnificent within itself, as the most technologically equipped show place at sea. The book, music and lyrics for “Twice Charmed” were written by Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner, whose Broadway musical “First Date” has been produced in over 100 productions all around the world. Zachary and Weiner also recently wrote the songs for the musical episode of ABC’s “Once Upon a Time.” The orchestrations and arrangements were by Alan Lee Silva and Timothy Mark Williams. “Twice Charmed” was directed by Joe Calarco, whose “Shakespeare’s R & J,” a re-telling of “Romeo and Juliet,” was a hit off-Broadway in New York and was critically praised in Chicago, Washington, D.C., London and Tokyo. Karma Camp, who has both Broadway and off-Broadway credits, choreographed the show. She has choreographed more than 20 productions at Signature Theatre of Arlington, Va., and also developed the Page 2 of 2 - Disney Cruise Line Stage Show Creates a Twist on Cinderella's Happily Ever After Story choreography for “Snow White — An Enchanting New Musical” at Disneyland. Easier said than done! The whole trip for evidence was just hokey and unnecessary. Very excellent descriptions of settings without boring one with minute details. Just apparently lose sleep because of her. Why did you leave? She's alive. I finished the book bc Damsgaard got me caring enough about her characters to want to get some resolution for them, but I'm not sure it's enough to get me to pick up another. She pines after a guy with no redeemable qualities - seriously we I really wanted to like this book. View all Cars Sites. • Cinderella, Challenges to Living the Faith
Hagelin 31a pg. 1 I. Intro Brothers and Sisters, St. Teresa of Avila’s most famous work is titled the “Interior Castle.” In it, she depicts spiritual growth as a difficult journey through SEVEN STAGES deeper and deeper inside the Castle. The Goal is to enter the innermost chamber of the Castle, where she encounters the One she calls “His Majesty.” One begins with friendship with the Lord Jesus, and ends in betrothal or marriage to Christ. With all this talk of castles, a difficult path there, and marrying royalty, my mind could not help but turn to the Fairy Tale Cinderella. Seriously now, Cinderella’s path to meet Prince Charming, marry him, and live “happily ever after” is not a bad way to envision our own Faith journey; though our goal is not Prince Charming, but the “Prince of Peace” Jesus Christ. Follow me now: II. Initial Stages Stage 1 Cinderella had a blissful early childhood. Although her mother has passed away, she lived securely in a beautiful Chateau with her doting father. Life was simple and happy as a child. She knew she was loved and destined for a content life. Although certainly not all of us had good parents, most of us were brought up in Faith, a simple Faith at first: the beginning of the Gospel message, after all, and what we rightly first teach kids, is God’s immense love for us; that we are called to friendship with God now, and destined to live with Him forever in heaven. THIS IS THE FOUNDATIONAL TRUTH ABOUT WHO YOU ARE, GOD’S LOVE & YOUR DIGNITY and DESTINY.

Sarah’s work in forensic psychology served as a springboard, and this project gave me the opportunity to explore a component of criminal justice ideology in depth. Sarah’s course at Wesleyan, Psychology and the Law, was also very helpful in providing a background of the literature that exists surrounding criminal justice ideology and its impact on culture. Sarah made this project not only possible, but also enjoyable, and I am incredibly grateful to her. I would also like to thank the students who work in Sarah Carney’s research lab for their help in watching some of the films and giving me feedback on my coding and analyses. In terms of collecting all of my research materials, both literature and films, I owe many thanks to the Olin Librarians and those who work for Wesleyan’s Interlibrary Loan Program. I am also highly appreciative of my wonderful roommates for their countless hours of discussion and for all the support they have given me throughout this year. Lastly, I thank my family for their unconditional encouragement and love.

  • Aging with Disney and the Gendering of Evil
Journal of Literature and Art Studies, February 2015, Vol. 5, No. 2, 114-127 doi: 10.17265/2159-5836/2015.02.004 D DAVID PUBLISHING Aging With Disney and the Gendering of Evil Nada Ramadan Elnahla Alexandria University, Alexandria, Egypt Walt Disney animated films are considered synonymous with wholesome family entertainment despite the inherent negative messages of gender, age, and power hierarchies behind them. This paper proposes to explore the aspect of age as intersecting with gender through the villainesses in six of Disney’s popular animated films: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937), Cinderella (1950), Sleeping Beauty (1959), The Little Mermaid (1989), Tangled (2010), and Frozen (2013). How Disney alters the actions of major and minor characters, and the construction of aging female characters and the key characteristics they exhibit during their fight for eternal youth, beauty, and social and political power will be analyzed, attempting to show how Disney is not a harmless substitute for a babysitter for children. Keywords: aging, ageism, feminism, Disney, animated films, villain Introduction In 1923, Walt Disney and his brother Roy pooled their money to set up a cartoon studio in Hollywood: The Disney Brothers’ Studio. It would take Disney 14 years before the first animated feature-length version of Snow White was released. The film’s phenomenal success at the time (earning eight million dollars on its initial release and winning a full-size Oscar statuette and seven miniature ones) signaled the beginning of a golden age of animation and a rising influence of the Disney movies, brand, and theme parks.

  • Cinderella Movie Review & Film Summary (2015) | Roger Ebert
In Memoriam 1942 – 2013 | ROGEREBERT..COM Choose a Section REVIEWS CINDERELLA | Susan Wloszczyna March 13, 2015 | 63 The presence of a new “Cinderella,” the latest of a long line of TV and theatrical movies about the fairy-tale lass (and one lad, if you Print Page count Jerry Lewis in 1960’s “Cinderfella”), caused me to realize that there seems to be a change in the attitudinal wind when it comes Like to popular entertainment. Like 61 The cynical side winks, knowing smirks, throwback references and dead-pan jokes that are hallmarks of post-modern culture are 5 being ever so politely nudged aside by an emerging re-appreciation of old-fashioned sincerity and the pleasures of simply playing it straight. Basically, warmth is slowly becoming the new cool. One of the first signs of this turnabout might have been Tim Burton’s approach to last year’s “Big Eyes,” a biopic about Margaret Keane, the mid-century kitsch queen of the art world, and her struggle to regain credit for her work from her con-man husband. Given the inherent creepiness of Keane’s waif portraits, many expected Burton’s humorously sinister sensibilities to seep into the beatnik-era clash of low art and high drama. But save for a couple “Twilight Zone”-style dream sequences, the filmmaker adhered to telling the true story pretty much as it happened and focused on building sympathy for its main subject. This apparent sincerity revival went global when it arrived in the form of Lady Gaga’s Oscar-night performance of a medley of Rodgers and Hammerstein songs in honor of “The Sound of Music’s” 50th anniversary.
