Les sentiments de deux couples qui semblent fidèles peuvent-ils être remis en question par une supercherie en apparence inoffensive ? La production de Jonathan Miller, toujours aussi populaire, adapte le 18e siècle à notre époque. Si les modes et les technologies ont évolué depuis Mozart, l'être humain est toujours aussi inconstant et manipulateur. La coqueluche du Royal Opera, Thomas Allen, fait son retour dans une excellente distribution, dirigée par le grand chef d'orchestre allemand, Thomas Hengelbrock. Si le titre évoque le comportement des femmes – "Ainsi font-elles toutes" – il semble également s'appli- quer aux hommes. Le compositeur estimait que cette tragédie était « l'une des plus grandes créations de l'homme » et avec son librettiste, Piave, il s'attacha à en faire un opéra « qui sorte de l'ordinaire ». La musique de Verdi atteint des sommets dans les ch œurs macabres des sorcières, les sonorités évocatrices de l'orchestre et l'enrichissement du rôle de Lady Macbeth, « laide et monstrueuse ». La production de Phyllida Lloyd, qui a été présentée pour la dernière fois au Royal Opera en 2006, reprend la version révisée de Verdi de 1865, célèbre pour la superbe aria de Lady Macbeth "La luce langue" et le formidable choeur d'ouverture de l'acte IV, et fait ressortir les sinistres motivations des époux Macbeth ainsi que l'éclat de la justice pour leurs victimes. Simon Keenlyside et Martina Serafin interprètent le noble écossais et son épouse à l'ambition re- doutable, qui incite son mari à assassiner pour sa carrière. Le baryton-basse américain, Raymond Aceto, joue le rôle de Banquo, victime assassinée et symbole de la conscience. PL. El público cubano satisfizo aquí sus expectativas tras el debut del Royal Ballet con un programa marcado por la diversidad coreográfica y la muy esperada actuación de la española Tamara Rojo y el cubano Carlos Acosta. Estos últimos, abanderados de la famosa compañía británica, centraron la víspera en la sala García Lorca, del Gran Teatro de La Habana, un memorable espectáculo con el pas de deux de El corsario, pleno de virtuosismo, entre fouettes y pirouettes. Como primer botón de muestra, la contemporánea pieza Chroma, del célebre coreógrafo Wayne McGregor, puso al descubierto las exigencias fisicas que demanda a cada bailarín un juego que deshace la teoría del conocimiento sobre el cuerpo humano. La luz y el movimiento se conjugaron en un espacio mínimo para dar paso al cuerpo arquitectónico, en esa máxima del anatomista y fisiólogo checo Jan Evangelista cuando apuntó: los engaños de los sentidos son las verdades de la percepción. A los divertimentos les fue reservada también otra estela de aplausos y exclamaciones de bravo. Alina Cojocaru y José Martin demostraron talento histriónico en el pas de deux Las voces de la primavera, mientras que Roberta Márquez y Edward Watson encarnaron la escena del balcón de Romeo y Julieta, coreografiada por Kenneth MacMillan. El duetto de Mara Galeazzi y Thiago Soares protagonizó otro pas de deux, Farewell, en que los intensos arabescos de la primera y los saltos en giros de su contraparte devinieron no solo expresión amorosa sino diatriba contra el destino.

Kevin O’Hare said “I’m delighted that Natalia will be joining us next Season and look forward to seeing her take on a full range of the Company’s heritage and modern repertory. She greatly enjoyed her guest performances with the Company as Odette/Odile in Swan Lake with Carlos earlier this Season and she is looking forward to becoming a full member of the Company in the autumn. She is a wonderful addition to our world class roster of Principals.” Natalia Osipova was born in Moscow and started her ballet training at the age of five. At the age of eight she entered the Mikhail Lavrosvky Ballet School and then studied at the Moscow State Academy of Choreography from 1995-2004 with Marina Kotova and Marina Leonova. After graduating, she entered the Bolshoi Ballet as a member of the corps de ballet and only a year later was asked to dance the lead role of Kitri in Alexei Fadeyechev’s production of Don Quixote for which she was highly acclaimed. In 2010 Osipova was promoted to Principal Dancer with the Bolshoi. The following year she joined the Mikhailovsky Ballet Company as a Principal.

As they prepare for a guest appearance at the Royal Opera House, Jessica Duchen talks to them about the challenges of living and working together By Jessica Duchen Tuesday, 13 th August 2013 Ballet loves a star partnership and none more so than that of Natalia Osipova and Ivan Vasiliev, the Russian duo who are firing up audiences across the globe. The pair, a couple off-stage as well as on, began their careers with the Bolshoi Ballet. Though they left in 2011, they are returning to it for one guest appearance in London this summer, in Flames of Paris. It was here, on the stage of the Royal Opera House, that they shot to joint international stardom in 2007 when the Bolshoi’s then artistic director, Alexei Ratmansky, cast them for the opening night of Don Quixote. When they reprised the roles during the company’s visit in 2010, The Independent’s dance critic commented on their outrageous charm and astounding technique, and added: “By the time we got to the curtain calls, the audience was standing and screaming for them.” Since then, matters have moved on apace. Two years ago, the duo joined the Mikhailovsky Ballet in St Petersburg, which allowed them time for plentiful guest appearances, and they also have contracts at American Ballet Theatre. Now Osipova is becoming a principal with the Royal Ballet in London; Vasiliev, though, has not been signed too.

    October 2019 Royal Ballet News – Company Departures Alastair Marriott, Principal Character ArtistArtist,,,, leaves The Royal Ballet after 30 years The Royal Ballet announces that Alastair Marriott , Principal Character Artist with The Royal Ballet, is to leave the Company after over 30 years. Director of The Royal Ballet Kevin O’Hare comments ‘I would like to thank Alastair for his invaluable contribution to the life of The Royal Ballet. As a distinguished Principal Character Artist he has appeared in a wealth of the Company’s repertory and worked with some of the leading figures from The Royal Ballet’s history including Kenneth MacMillan and Christopher Wheeldon . As a choreographer he has contributed to the canon of The Royal Ballet with the many new works created especially for the Company and for The Royal Ballet School. I wish him continued success in the future’. Alastair Marriott comments ‘After completing my education at The Royal Ballet School, I joined the Company in 1988, becoming a Soloist in 1996 and a Principal Character Artist in 2002. I choreographed my first professional ballet for The Royal Ballet in 2003 and my works for the Company include six one act main stage pieces.
