Based on the latest theoretical concepts of business administration, the programme will equip students with the key business skills to work successfully in an international business environment. Furthermore, the programme offers a range of specialisations that will allow students to deepen their knowledge and meet their individual goals. Students can also participate in specialisations offered at partner universities worldwide. Selected lectures within the study programme include the following: Intercultural Communication Business Law in an International Context International Financial Accounting/Taxes Languages International Management (Specialisation) Furthermore, the study programme includes a so-called "mobility window" of three semesters in which the students have the chance to study abroad, to complete an internship abroad, or to write their final thesis abroad. 2 Course Details Course organisation In the first three semesters of the programme, the students participate in basic lectures in business administration and economics. Furthermore, the students learn another foreign language and explore how to communicate in an intercultural context. The specialisations will be offered in the fourth and fifth semester. Students can choose specialisations offered at the Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg or at one of the partner universities worldwide. The following specialisations are offered locally at the moment: International Management Business-to-Business Marketing International Financial Management Sales Management In the sixth semester, the students have the option to complete an internship in Germany or abroad or to study abroad, for example, at one of the partner universities. The internship comprises a minimum of 20 weeks (full-time employment). In the last semester of the programme, the students have to write a final thesis (duration: three months) and complete a colloquium. The thesis can be written in cooperation with a partner university or in cooperation with a company in Germany or abroad. DM) umgesetzt werden. Die Erfüllung des Programms liegt damit um 264 Mio. DM höher als im Vorjahr. Die Region Bonn/Rhein-Sieg hat in weiten Teilen an dieser positiven Entwicklung partizipiert, so dass hier- durch die Rahmenbedingungen für das erste Modelljahr maßgeblich mitgestaltet wurden. Entge- gen der noch zu Jahresbeginn 2001 geltenden Einschätzung, im (Miet-) Wohnungsbau sei mit weiteren Einbrüchen zu rechnen, hat sich das regionale Förderergebnis punktgenau auf dem Vorjahresniveau gehalten. 2001 konnten damit zahlreiche neue Wohnungsbauprojekte aus dem Gesamtbudget der Region gefördert werden. Der vorliegende Bericht gibt, zeitlich und inhaltlich an den zweiten Erfahrungsbericht anknüpfend, die wichtigsten Bausteine des Prozesses zwischen Oktober 2001 und Januar 2002 wieder. I. As its development was heavily influences by external circumstances, the first part will make a brief summary of the regional situation. Following this, the paper goes more into detail and explains the concrete developments that took place in the city of Rheinbach. The focus will be on the world-wide most productive creative industry sector - Research and Development (Howkins 2001 p.116). The report will end with some conclusions, showing the interdependencies between regional and local strategies and decisions to promote a creative economy. 1. A region in transition The Bonn City Region The Bonn City Region is located at the southern end of the Rhein-Ruhr Metropolitan Area. It includes the Federal City of Bonn, its surrounding Rhein-Sieg District as well as the District of Ahrweiler in the south. The area of 2.000 km² is populated with more than one million inhabitants, with Bonn being the biggest city with 300.000+ citizens. To the north, cities like Cologne and Düsseldorf are within a stone throw away, to the south, the financial center Frankfurt can be found in 150 km distance. Situated along the river Rhine, the area offers diverse settlement structures and landscape atmospheres.
