Nonparasitic lamprey found in the Beli Drim River basin (Drin River drainage, Adriatic Sea watershed) represents a valid species Eudontomyzon stankokaramani Karaman, 1974. From other species of the genus Eudontomyzon it differs in its dentition, and the number and form of velar tentacles. This is the first Eudontomyzon species found in the Adriatic Sea watershed. Key words: Eudontomyzon stankokaramani, Beli Drim River basin, Drin River drainage, Adriatic Sea watershed, West Balkan, Serbia Introduction Eudontomyzon is one of five genera that belong to the family Petromyzontidae occurring in the Palaearctic faunal region. Within this region the genus is composed of one parasitic and two non-parasitic species. According to recent knowledge, Europe is inhabited by E. danfordi Regan, 1911, E. mariae (Berg, 1931), E. hellenicus Vladykov, Renaud, Kott et Economidis, 1982, and also by a still unnamed but now probably extinct species of anadromous parasitic lamprey related to E. mariae known from the Prut, Dnieper and Dniester Rivers (H o l č í k & R e n a u d 1986, R e n a u d 1997). -

Br ătianu 2, Bucharest 030174, Romania, [email protected] , [email protected] Received: 29 July 2015 Abstract A set of colored glass tesserae ( yellow, blue turquoise and green turquoise) discovered at Isaccea and dated to the 11 th century AD was investigated using Ion Beam Analysis (IBA) techniques to determine their chemical composition. Particular attention was paid to identify the glass chromophores and opacifiers. Based on the analytical results, several conclusions about the way these archaeological finds were manufactured, particularly on the raw materials and employed techniques were deduced. CHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF ANCIENT GLASS ARTEFACTS The scientific study of archaeological glass artefacts can provide insights on how these utilitarian or decorative objects were produced. In particular, glass chemical composition can suggest which were the raw materials and manufacturing techniques. Based on hard science arguments, indications about the way the ancient societies functioned - access to resources and level of craftsmanship - can be obtained [1]. This paper focuses on five glass mosaic tesserae discovered in archaeological context at Isaccea and dated to the 11 th century AD. They have been the analyzed for their chemical composition using a combination of two non-destructive external IBA methods, namely Particle Induced X-ray Emission (PIXE) and Particle Induced Gamma-ray Emission (PIGE). -

Aux débuts de l’archéologie moderne roumaine: les fouilles d’Atmageaua Tătărască∗ Radu-Alexandru DRAGOMAN** Abstract: This text is an analysis of the archive resulting from the 1929-1931, 1933 and 1935 archaeological research at Atmageaua Tătărască, southern Dobrudja (today Sokol, in Bulgaria). The excavations at Atmageaua Tătărască are relevant for the history of Romanian archeology because they correspond to the time of formation and institutionalization of a scientific approach considered to be “modern” and of a research philosophy that would dominate the archaeological practice ever since. The text seeks to contribute to a better understanding of the beginnings of the discipline and also advocates for the redefinition of the current archaeological practice. Rezumat: Textul reprezintă o analiză a arhivei rezultate în urma cercetărilor arheologice din 1929-1931, 1933 şi 1935 de la Atmageaua Tătărască, sudul Dobrogei (astăzi Sokol, în Bulgaria). Săpăturile de la Atmageaua Tătărască sunt relevante pentru istoria arheologiei românești, deoarece corespund perioadei de formare şi instituţionalizare a unei demers ştiinţific considerat a fi „modern” şi a unei filosofii de cercetare ce va domina practica arheologică de atunci încolo. Textul își propune să contribuie la o mai bună înțelegere a începuturilor disciplinei și, totodată, pledează pentru redefinirea practicii arheologice din prezent. The settlements and tenements of the entire Iron Age reflect the continuity of migrations, through limited, through the sedentarization and fortification of many of the settlements, which became true centres of unions of tribes. The urbanization process started in Hallstatt will continue in Latène, in the context of development of tribal aristocracy, as a result of unions of tribes that became more and more stable. RAPORT PRIVIND SITUAŢIA HIDROMETEOROLOGICĂ ŞI A CALITĂŢII MEDIULUI în intervalul 02.04.2021, ora 08.00 – 03.04.2021, ora 08.00 I. SITUAŢIA HIDROMETEOROLOGICĂ 1. Situația și prognoza hidro pe râurile interioare şi Dunăre din 03.04.2021, ora 07.00 RÂURI Debitele au fost, în general, în creștere, ca urmare a precipitațiilor prognozate, cedării apei din stratul de zăpadă și propagării, cu excepția râurilor din bazinele: Bârzava, Moravița, Caraș, Nera, Cerna, Vedea, Jijia, Bârlad, bazinele mijlocii și inferioare ale râurilor Jiu, Olt, Argeș, Ialomița și Prut și pe râurile din Dobrogea, unde debitele au fost relativ staționare. Debitele se situează la valori sub mediile multianuale lunare, cu coeficienți moduli cuprinși între 30-90%, mai mari (în jurul și peste normalele lunare) pe râurile din bazinele hidrografice: Vișeu, Iza, Tur, Crasna, Barcău, Bega, Bârzava, Caraș, Prahova, Suceava, Moldova, Trotuș, bazinul superior al Jiului, bazinul superior și mijlociu al Oltului, cursurile superioare ale Siretului, Putnei, Buzăului și Prutului și pe râurile din Dobrogea şi mai mici (sub 30%) pe râurile din bazinele hidrografice: Bega Veche, Cerna, Bârlad, Jijia şi pe unii afluenți din bazinul mijlociu al Oltului. Este în vigoare ATENȚIONAREA HIDROLOGICĂ nr. 31 din 02.04.2021. În interval a fost emisă o ATENȚIONARE HIDROLOGICĂ pentru fenomene imediate. Nivelurile pe râuri la stațiile hidrometrice se situează în general sub COTELE DE ATENȚIE, exceptând râul Crasna la stația Domănești – jud SM (400+27). Debitele vor fi în creștere, ca urmare a precipitațiilor în curs, a celor prognozate, a cedării apei din stratul de zăpadă și propagării pe râurile din centrul, estul și sudul țării și relativ staționare în rest. -

CARTOGRAFIA CETĂȚILOR MEDIEVALE DISPĂRUTE DIN DOBROGEA. STUDIU DE CAZ: FORTIFICAȚIILE TURCEȘTI Aurel-Daniel Stănică Abstract: When preparing the documentation for some historical studies in order to update the zoning plans for the territorial-administrative units in Tulcea County, we encountered problems in locating the fortresses and fortifications built by the Ottomans in Dobrudja. Therefore, we initiated an extensive research to identify the historical documents and cartographic sources mentioning the plans of the Ottoman fortresses in Dobrudja. Cartography is an “image maker” throughout history, helping us put together the pieces of the evolution of Ottoman fortifications. Our endeavour has contributed to improved knowledge of historical geography, identifying sites that, unfortunately, are lost nowadays. Research was carried out in two main phases: the cabinet phase (analysis of topographic and cadastral maps, historical maps, documentary sources, imagery, GIS analysis) and the field phase (archaeological field research, archaeological topography, taking low altitude aerial photographs using drones – UAV). The analysis and interpretation of the aerial and satellite photographs represented the most intense activity, whose results were integrated into a GIS. This is actually the most effective working methodology for our purposes. Earthen fortifications have been included in our mapping project of lost missing medieval fortresses in the area between the Danube and the Black Sea. The tabya is the only evidence of a system of fortifications made by the Ottomans in the neighbourhood of the settlements: Tulcea, Isaccea, Babadag, Hârşova and Medgidia. The methodological approach opens new perspectives in the extended mapping of the archaeological landscape, studying the effect of the Ottoman conquest and domination in Dobrudja.
