SOUTH SUDAN Situation Report June 2021 TOTAL # OF IDPs TOTAL # PEOPLE IN NEED TOTAL # OF TARGET TOTAL # OF POPULATION POPULATION REACHED 1.6 M 1.3 M 900 K 490 K NATIONAL CLUSTER UPDATE 2021 Key HRP Figures Building the capacity of the CCCM community in South Sudan, in the month of June the CCCM Cluster TOTAL FUND REQUIRED TOTAL FUND RECEIVED TOTAL PARTNER held the rst of several Capacity Building and Training Workshops. Attended by 38 participants (30 male/8 females) from existing HRP partners (I/NGOs) as well as other national NGOs with an interest in implementing CCCM activities as part of the cluster going forward, the 2 day workshop was an opportu- nity for the CCCM cluster to share best practices and global guidelines on eective camp management, as 18 mil 2.2 mil 7 well as for partners to reect on lessons learnt and the challenges of the context specic needs of IDPs in South Sudan. The transition of the PoCs to conventional IDP sites, which has so far taken for 5 of the 6 sites in South Sudan, may further entrench protracted displacement and the associated burden on displaced people, returnees and host communities. - ed to remain in the areas where they have taken refuge until conditions improve in their areas of origin. Focused on core CCCM principles, the topics of the training included introduction to CCCM, coordination, roles and responsibilities, community participation, engagement, and information sharing. • Through funding from the Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA), DRC continues to support new arrivals to Abu Roc settlement, most of whom require immediate shelter support. In the month of June 50 new households were provided with NFI packages comprised of a blanket, sleeping mat, solar torch, plastic sheet and nylon rope). • Strengthening community governance structures and enabling them to adequately represent the diverse IDP population, DRC distributed items such as rain coats, wheelbarrows, hammers, digging bars, hand saw, musical instruments and sugar to several sectorial committees in Abu Roc settlement. • In support of the activities of the youth committee, DRC constructed for them an oce, which was ocially handed over with donations of 20 plastic chairs, 3 plastic tables, 10 footballs, 6 volleyballs, 24 training reector vest jackets, and 2 mega phones. Covid-19 Update PIN Vs Target Population • DRC carried out a number of activities this month to raise awareness of COVID 19 prevention measures. In addition to distributing facemasks in Abu Roc, DRC camp management also carried out awareness raising sessions for 250 participants in Malakal town and Padit and Pathow Bomas in Ogod Payam.
