The higher average air temperature is determined for the entire period of study. The trend of increasing air temperature was positive, and high temperatures were up to 4.6 º C higher than normal. Deficit rainfall in the researched period, compared to normal were established in 2000, 2002 and 2003. Plots were relatively homogeneous properties. During the period vegetacionih a pronounced deficit (2000, 2002 and 2003. Years) at all sites were found similar dynamics in momentalnoj soil moisture at the depth of the entire profile. Nagle promene mikroreljefa uslovljavaju veliku varijabilnost svojstava, posebno teksturnog sastava, a time i vodnovazdušnog reţima ovih zemljišta. Moćnost humusnog horizonta ne prelazi 30 cm ispod kojeg leţe slojevi razliĉite debljine i teksture. Fiziĉka i hemijska svojstva nerazvijenog aluvijalnog zemljišta (fluvisola) najĉešće zavise od granulometrijskog sastava i porekla nanosa. Nerazvijena aluvijalna zemljišta (fluvisole) u Srednjem Podunavlju karakteriše visoka alkalnost i karbonatnost aluvijalnog nanosa (Ţivković, et al. 1972). Najvaţnije fiziĉko svojstvo nerazvijenog aluvijalnog zemljišta (fluvisola) kao tipa zemljišta je granulometrijski sastav zemljišta,

This Boletales species occurs widely in eastern North America and Central America. It is reported for the first time from a neotropical lamellate boletes montane pine woodland in the Dominican Republic. Mycorrhizal Fungi of Aspen Forests: Natural Occurrence and Potential Applications Cathy L. Cripps1 Abstract—Native mycorrhizal fungi associated with aspen were surveyed on three soil types in the north-central Rocky Mountains. Selected isolates were tested for the ability to enhance aspen seedling growth in vitro. Over 50 species of ectomycorrhizal fungi occur with Populus tremuloides in this region, primarily basidiomycete fungi in the Agaricales. Almost one-third (30%) were ubiquitous with aspen and were found on all three soil types. Over one-third (37%) were restricted to the acidic, sandy soil of the smelter-impacted Butte-Anaconda area, revealing a subset of fungi that tolerate these conditions. Mycorrhizal fungi were screened for their ability to enhance aspen growth and establishment. Of nine selected isolates, all but one increased the biomass of aspen seedlings 2–4 times.

  • Evolutionary History of Serpulaceae (Basidiomycota)
Skrede et al. BMC Evolutionary Biology 2011, 11:230 http://www.biomedcentral.com/1471-2148/11/230 RESEARCH ARTICLE Open Access Evolutionary history of Serpulaceae (Basidiomycota): molecular phylogeny, historical biogeography and evidence for a single transition of nutritional mode Inger Skrede1*, Ingeborg B Engh1, Manfred Binder2, Tor Carlsen1, Håvard Kauserud1 and Mika Bendiksby3 Abstract Background: The fungal genus Serpula (Serpulaceae, Boletales) comprises several saprotrophic (brown rot) taxa, including the aggressive house-infecting dry rot fungus Serpula lacrymans. Recent phylogenetic analyses have indicated that the ectomycorrhiza forming genera Austropaxillus and Gymnopaxillus cluster within Serpula. In this study we use DNA sequence data to investigate phylogenetic relationships, historical biogeography of, and nutritional mode transitions in Serpulaceae. Results: Our results corroborate that the two ectomycorrhiza-forming genera, Austropaxillus and Gymnopaxillus, form a monophyletic group nested within the saprotrophic genus Serpula, and that the Serpula species S. lacrymans and S. himantioides constitute the sister group to the Austropaxillus-Gymnopaxillus clade. We found that both vicariance (Beringian) and long distance dispersal events are needed to explain the phylogeny and current distributions of taxa within Serpulaceae. Our results also show that the transition from brown rot to mycorrhiza has happened only once in a monophyletic Serpulaceae, probably between 50 and 22 million years before present. Conclusions: This study supports the growing understanding that the same geographical barriers that limit plant- and animal dispersal also limit the spread of fungi, as a combination of vicariance and long distance dispersal events are needed to explain the present patterns of distribution in Serpulaceae. Our results verify the transition from brown rot to ECM within Serpulaceae between 50 and 22 MyBP.
