“Management of Energy Resources from Local Natural Resources: Primiero's Experience”

Presenter: Pier Bond

Our History

 Founded in 1902 to supply hydro-electric power to the community of Primiero. Since then our focus has been on developing a sustainable community from a core integrated energy services business.

 The territory has been used for hydro-electric power since the 1920's first by the company SAVA and in 1988 ENEL. Since 2001 these plants have been part of Primiero Energia S.p.A.

 Over the years Primiero has undertaken a process of consolidation of its natural resources back into the controlling hands of the community of Primiero.

Our History

In 1929 the Moline plant was commissioned;

In 1930 San Silvestro (with water emanating from the Vanoi and Lozen Valleys);

In 1947 the Caoria plant with water from the dam of Forte Buso;

In 1957 the old plant of Boaleti was replaced with a new one, Castelpietra, producing about 20-25 million kWh / annum.

In 1958 the dam and plant of Val Noana (not ACSM), and in 1963 the dam and plant of Val Schener; The Company Today • Today ACSM undertakes:

 Hydro-electric Power Production from 7 plants (approx. 400 GWh / annum)  Electric Energy Distribution (37 km MT and 350 km linee LT lines)  Electricity Wholesale  Management of Aqueducts (town water supply)  Production, Distribution and Sales of Heating Services (district heating)  Garbage Recycling Future projects for ACSM S.p.A. And the community of Primiero

1. Projects based on the use of our traditional local resources - water and wood (e.g. Oil Free Zone), and,

2. Projects not based on traditional resources (e.g. my-Valley) Project Oil Free Zone

The intent of this project is to end our dependency on oil and offer our tourism industry a differentiating factor for its client base. This project involves the collaboration of all business units:

• Auto sufficiency in electricity needs by using hydro, hydrogen, bio-methane and co-generation. • Auto sufficiency in heating requirements utilising a district heating plant that runs on bio-mass (wood chip). • Production of bio-gas utilising animal and compost waste. • Production of hydrogen via electrolysis and steam reforming. • Introduction of new transport facilities that run on these renewable non polluting energies. • Promotion of energy saving.
