Livorno Shore Excursions Stop in Florence - (1hour and 15 minutes from Livorno) Originally founded by Julius Caesar. It is the capital city of the region of Tuscany and is indeed a beautiful colorful, romantic and culturally attractive city renowned for its vast museums which contain some of Michelangelo’s most famous works. We will able to see: • Piazzale Michelangelo, is famous for its view overlooking Florence. • The Basilica di Santa Croce is the main Francescain Church in Florence. It is the burial place of some of the most illustrious Italians, such as Michelangelo, Galileo, Macchaivelli, Foscolo, Rossini, Marconi and as such it is also known as the Temple of the Italian Glorie. • The Cathedral complex (Santa Maria del Fiore) includes the Battistero and Giotto's Campanile. Bartolomeo Ammanati's Fountain of Neptune, is located in the heart of the city in Piazza della Signoria. • Ponte Vecchio is the oldest bridge remaining in Florence, and today is lined with goldsmiths shops. • Pitti Palace containing part of the Medici family's former private collection. • Accademia, whose collection's highlights Michelangelo's David and his Unfinished Slaves and the Uffizi with original masterpieces of Michelangelo, Raffaello, Botticelli, Beato Angelico, Rubens, Rembrant. Stop in San Gimignano - (40 minutes from Florence) San-Gimignano is surrounded by gently-rolling countryside dotted with vineyards and olive trees. Its 14 grey stone towers set on a hilltop are enclosed within an outer wall including five gates. It has all the charm of a small medieval town, built mainly of brick. It has been preserved amazingly well. The city of San Gimignano took his name from the Bishop of Modena, who saved the city from the warriors.
