A safer alternative for disinfestation is by heating up grains to a temperature of 50-60 °C. However, this alternative consumes high thermal energy due to the relatively high temperature required to achieve the required goal. Using solar energy as heat source for low temperature applications has become a viable mean for heating applications. Heating of grains using solar energy requires special design of grain storage system as well as development of efficient heat transfer mechanism to increase grain temperature over a limited period of time. The main objective of the current study is to use thermal disinfestation as a non-chemical, safe control method for grain management. A heating system based on solar energy has been developed as heat generator to control stored-grain insects. The target temperature range is 50-60 °C, which is enough to kill most of stored-grain insects. -

The head shows a characteristic morphology. The acrosome is very long and is basically made up of a para- crystalline structure. In the central head region, the acrosome is inserted into the nucleus, which is observed coiling laterally around the para- crystalline structure. In the subsequent part of the spermatozoon the nucleus appears round in transverse sections, and over some length it is still penetrated by the acrosome until shortly distal to the flagellar insertion. At this point the nucleus forms an inverted cone-shaped projection. These morphological characteristics of acrosome and nucleus of the Microstigmus wasp have not been previously described in Apoidea and are useful for phylogenetic evaluation of this superfamily. -

Menopsila dupeae n. gen. and sp., is based on a partial male preserved in a small sliver of translucent amber. The genus is placed incertae sedis within the Pemphredonini, as it intermingles features, likely plesiomorphies, of various lineages within the tribe. It likely represents a stem group to one or more of the constituent subtribes, yet it is arguably most similar to the Spilomenina. To su Park prirode Kopački rit, Park prirode Lonjsko polje, Delta rijeke Neretve i Crna Mlaka. Glavni cilj specijalističkog rada je objediniti sve objavljene i neobjavljene podatke o nalazima vrsta kukaca na ova četiri močvarna staništa te kvalitativno usporediti entomofau nu pomoću Sörensonovog indexa faunističke sličnosti. Na području Parka prirode Kopački rit utvrđeno je ukupno 866 vrsta kukaca razvrstanih u 84 porodice i 513 rodova. Na području Parka prirode Lonjsko polje utvrđeno je 513 vrsta kukaca razvrstanih u 24 porodice i 89 rodova. Na području delte rijeke Neretve utvrđeno je ukupno 348 vrsta kukaca razvrstanih u 89 porodica i 227 rodova. Za područje Crne Mlake nije bilo dostupne literature o nalazima kukaca. Velika vrijednost Sörensonovog indexa od 80,85% ukazuje na veliku faunističku sličnost između faune obada Kopačkoga rita i Lonjskoga polja. Najmanja sličnost u fauni obada utvrđena je između močvarnih staništa Lonjskog polja i delte rijeke Neretve, a iznosi 41,37%. -

However, this paper reported a new mechanism of the wasp to parasitize the host borer Monochamus alternatus (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae). Observation on their parasitic behavior and their offspring growth discovered that the wasp needs 6 steps to complete its parasitic process, i.e. host-biting and-fighting, host-subduing and-nursing, host-liquefying and-feeding, wasps’ berried and oviposition, larval sucking and developing, cocooning and wasps’ emerging. Host-biting and host-liquefying are the key steps which would evolve an amazing array of mechanisms to create a liquid nutrient reservoir inside the borer body cavity for the parasitoid larvae’s sucking and developing. This mechanism suggests that S.guani is a species of ectoparasitoid 13 wasp, with the characteristic of extra-oral digestion; the nature of subduing is to fully liquefy the borer internal material and help their offspring smoothly sucking the liquid nutrient from the host for development. Although many studies have investigated the behaviors in the detection of their hosts, little is known of the molecular information of their chemosensory system. We assembled the first transcriptome of D. longgicaudata using transcriptome sequencing and identified 162,621 unigenes for the Ashmead insects in response to fruit flies fed with different fruits (guava, mango, and carambola).
