D. maculatus conocida como "Naca", es un especie objetivo de la pesquería artesanal, pues es considerada un recurso de alto valor comercial en la región debido al valor gastronómico de la gónada o hueva. En los últimos años las actividades antropogénicas han impactado su hábitat con contaminantes químicos y biológicos que afectan el agua y los sedimentos, además de la sobreexplotación de la especie por su fácil captura en época de reproducción. -

(01 229) 6905010 e-mail: [email protected] | www.itboca.edu.mx RESUMEN En México existe una gran riqueza de especies nativas de crustáceos, moluscos y peces; los cuales han sido consumidos tradicionalmente por años; lamentablemente la “naca” Dormitator maculatus es un ejemplo de las pesquerías artesanales con gran potencial que requiere atención, su importancia comercial radica sólo en el consumo de las gónadas maduras de la hembra conocida como “hueva”. A la fecha, no hay estudios de crecimiento de este organismo en cautiverio. Por lo tanto el objetivo de la presente investigación fue conocer el potencial acuícola de la “naca” Dormitator maculatus; a través de su potencial de adaptación y mantenimiento en un sistema de recirculación acuícola en condiciones controladas, para su manejo y cultivo. El estudio se realizó en el Instituto Tecnológico de Boca del Río (ITBOCA), en el laboratorio de Investigación Acuícola Aplicada (LIAA). -

It would have been impossible to review al papers from the beginning of ichthyology, starting with authors as far back as Larrañaga or Jenyns, who worked the preserved fishes Darwin brought back home from his famous trip around the world. The publications of Nion et al. (2002) and Teixera de Mello et al. (2011) seemed to be a good basis where to start from. Both are not perfect for this purpose but still valuable sources and we highly recommend both as literature for the interested reader. Nion et al. (2002) published a list of both, the freshwater and marine species of Uruguay, only permitting the already knowledgeable to make the difference and recognize the freshwater fishes. Also, some time has passed since then and the systematic of this paper is outdated in many parts. Teixero de Mello et al. (2011) recently presented an excellent collection of the 100 most abundant species with all relevant information and colour pictures, allowing an easy approximate identification. The names used there are the ones currently considered valid. Uncountable papers have been published on the freshwater fishes of Uruguay, some with regional or local approaches, others treating with certain groups of fishes. -
