The Indian Water Works Associaon (IWWA) is a voluntary body of professionals concerned and connected with water supply for rural, urban, industrial, agricultural uses and disposal of wastewater. IWWA focuses basically on the enre 'Water Cycle' encompassing the environmental, social, instuonal and financial issues in the area of water supply, wastewater treatment & disposal. IWWA was founded in the year 1968 with headquarters at having 32 centers across the country with more than 9000 members from all professions around the world.

The Kolkata Centre of IWWA in associaon with Public Health Engineering Department, Govt. of West Bengal along with others is organizing The 47th IWWA Convenon in Kolkata from 30th January to 1st February, 2015 at Science City, J.B.S Haldane Avenue, Kolkata ‐ 700046, West Bengal under the Theme 'Sustainable Technology Soluons for Water Management'. The professionals from all over the country and abroad will parcipate and present their technical papers in the three days convenon.

The Victoria Memorial (Victoria Memorial Hall) is a large marble building in Kolkata, West Bengal, India which was built between 1906 and 1921. It is dedicated to the memory of Queen Victoria (1819–1901) and is now a museum and tourist desnaon under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture. The Memorial lies on the (grounds) by the bank of the , near road.

Birla Mandir in Kolkata is a hindu temple on Asutosh Chowdhury Avenue, , built by the industrialist Birla family. The construcon of the temple began in 1970. It took 26 years to complete the enre structure. On Wednesday, the 21st of February, 1996, the Pran Prathistha was done by Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj in the morning. Dr. Karan Singh inaugurated the temple the same day.

St. Paul's Cathedral Built between 1839 and 1847, St Paul's Cathedral is one of India's most important churches. It's east of the Victoria Memorial at the South end of the Maidan. The steeple fell during an earthquake in 1897 and was redesigned and rebuilt. Inside there's some interesng memorials and stained glass, including the west window by Sir Edward Burne‐Jones.

Indian Museum The Indian Museum is originated from the Asiac Society of Bengal which was created by Sir William Jones in 1784. The concept of having a museum arose in 1796 from members of the Asiac Society as a place where man‐made and natural objects could be collected, cared for and displayed. The objecve began to look achievable in 1808 when the Society was offered suitable accommodaon by the in the ‐Park Street area.

Dakshineswar Kali Temple is a Hindu temple located in near Kolkata. Situated on the eastern bank of the Hooghly River, the presiding deity of the temple is Bhavatarini, an aspect of Kali, meaning, 'She who liberates Her devotees from the ocean of existence i.e. Saṃsāra'. The temple was built by , a philanthropist and a devotee of Kali in 1855. The temple is famous for its associaon with , a mysc of 19th Century Bengal. Kumortuli is a tradionally poers’ quarter in northern Kolkata, the capital of the east Indian state of West Bengal. By virtue of their arsc producons these poers have moved from obscurity to prominence. This Kolkata neighbourhood, not only supplies clay idols of Hindu gods and goddesses to pujas in Kolkata and its neighbourhoods, but a number of idols are exported.It is one of the seven wonders in Kolkata.

Belur Math is the headquarters of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission, founded by , a chief disciple of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. It is located on the west bank of Hooghly River, Belur, West Bengal, India and is one of the significant instuons in Calcua. This temple is the heart of the Ramakrishna Movement. The temple is notable for its architecture that fuses Hindu, Chrisan and Islamic mofs as a symbol of unity of all religions.

Botanical Gardens is situated 9 km away from the city, on the west bank of the Ganga, covering an area of about 273 acres. Laid out in the year 1787, the Indian Botanical Garden is one of the oldest and largest botanical gardens of India. It contains about 12,000 living perennial plants and millions of dried out plants gathered from all over the world. The 250‐year‐old Banyan tree with more than 2,800 prop roots is the main aracon for tourists. Marble Palace Situated, Chorbagan, 46 Muktaram Street, in an arscally laid‐out garden, the place is full of rare collecon of anques of immense arsc and historical value. Wonderful curios, China and a couple of painngs by Rubens are only a few to menon of the spectrum of aracons of the palace. The Marble Palace is situated on Muktaram Babu Street, off Chiaranjan. Kalighat Temple was a Ghat sacred to the Goddess Kali on the old course of the Hooghly river in the city of Kolkata. The temple is now on the banks of a small canal called Adi Ganga which connects to the Hoogly. The Adi Ganga was the original course of the river Hoogly (the ). The temple is visited by pilgrims from all over India. The Kalighat temple in its present form is only about 200 years old. A small temple was constructed by King Manasingha in the early 16th century. The present temple was erected under the patronage of the Sabarna Roy Chowdhury family of Barisha. It was completed in 1809.

The is a canlever bridge with a suspended span over the Hooghly River in West Bengal. Commissioned in 1943, the bridge was originally named the New Howrah Bridge. On 14 June 1965 it was renamed Rabindra Setu, aer the great Bengali poet , who was the first Indian and Asian Nobel laureate. It carrying a daily traffic of approximately 100,000 vehicles. The Howrah Bridge is the sixth‐longest bridge of its type in the world.

The Zoological Gardens is India's oldest formally stated zoological park and a big tourist aracon in Kolkata, West Bengal. It has been open as a zoo since 1876, and covers 18.81 ha (46.5 acres). It is probably best known as the home of the now expired Aldabra Giant Tortoise , which was reputed to have been over 250 years old when it died in 2006. It is also home to one of the few capve breeding projects involving the Manipur Brow‐antlered Deer.

Vidyasagar Setu also known as the Second Hooghly Bridge, is a bridge over the Hooghly River in West Bengal, India. It links the city of Howrah to its twin city of Kolkata. The bridge is a toll bridge for all vehicles. At a total length of 822.96 m, it is the longest cable‐stayed bridge in India and one of the longest in Asia. It was built at a cost of Rs 388 crores and commissioned on October 10, 1992. The bridge is used by around 30,000 vehicles daily, considerably less than the bridge's capacity of 85,000.

Eden Gardens Established in 1864, currently holds 66,349 people following renovaons for the World Cup 2011; a capacity down from an esmated 100,000 before the upgrade. Before the 1987 World Cup, the capacity was said to be approximately 120,000; however, no official figures have been recorded. it remains the third biggest cricket stadium in the world. Before 1984 both cricket and derby football matches were played in Eden Garden. The stadium is in the B. B. D. Bagh area of the city, near the State Secretariat and Calcua High Court.

Princep Ghat Kolkata known as the City of Joy, is full of aracons. on Strand Road, is one of the most aracve sights in the city of Kolkata. The people of Kolkata built this ghat in the memory of James Prinsep, a learned man who helped in deciphering Emperor Akbar's Brahminical script. Though the Ghat was constructed in the year 1841, it was opened to the public only in 1843. Greek and Gothic style of architecture was used to construct the monument. As a part of its renovaon a 2 km stretch of river front was built from the Prinsep Ghat to Baje Ghat in the year 2012.

The General Post Office, Kolkata, is the central post office of the city of Kolkata, India, and the chief post office of West Bengal. The post‐office handles most of the city's inbound and outbound mail and parcels. Situated in the B.B.D. Bagh area, the imposing structure of the GPO is one of the landmarks in the city. The site where the GPO is located was actually the site of the first Fort William. An alley beside the post office was the site of the guardhouse that housed the infamous 1756 Black Hole of Calcua (1756). The General Post Office was designed in 1864 by Walter B. Grenville (1819‐1874), who acted as consulng architect to the government of India from 1863 to 1868.

The Writers' Building ( Mahakaran), oen shortened to just Writers', is the secretariat building of the State Government of West Bengal in India. It is located in West Bengal's capital city of Kolkata. It housed the office of the Chief Minister of West Bengal ll 4 October 2013. Now most of the departments has moved out to another building named in Howrah on a temporary basis for facilitang renovaon of the Writers'. The Writers' Building originally served as the office for writers of the Brish , hence the name. Designed by Thomas Lyon in 1777, the Writers' Building has gone through several extensions over the years.

The (House of the Thakurs (anglicised to Tagore) in Jorasanko, north of Kolkata, West Bengal, India, is the ancestral home of the . It is currently located on the Rabindra Bhara University campus at 6/4 Dwarakanath Tagore Lane Jorasanko, Kolkata 700007. It is the house in which the poet and first non‐European Nobel laureate, Rabindranath Tagore was born. It is also the place where he spent most of his childhood and died on 7 August 1941. It was built in the 18th century on the land donated by the famous Se family of by Prince (Rabindranath Tagore's grandfather). Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore (1861–1941) was born here.
