The November 2013 edition of Clas- sics & Sports Cars includes an article on Brit Mark Denton and his three Standard Vanguards, examples of the first major postwar sedan produced by Standard-Triumph. The Vanguard’s 2088 cc engine fitted with two carbs later powered the TR2. If the Volvo PV444 and 544 looked like 1946 Fords, the Vanguards looked something like late ‘40s Chrysler or Dodge products. They proved hugely successful for Standard-Triumph.
