2015 Fall Newsletter.Pages Fall 2015 NEWSLETTER Iron Arrow Honor Society THE HIGHEST HONOR ATTAINED AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI A Message from the Chief Dear Tribe, Greetings to the Tribe and welcome back to another exciting year at our beloved Alma Mater! Our university continues to grow and improve as we embark on a new chapter with a promising future ahead. As we turn the page on the prosperous fourteen-year presidency of President Shalala, we should take this opportunity to reflect back over the history of the University of Miami and our time here. Since the beginning, it has been the role and the honor of the Iron Arrow Society to uphold the history and traditions of our prestigious university. Thank you for continually representing the Tribe and University in your leadership, scholarship, character, humility, and love of alma mater. The Tribe must continue this responsibility as we welcome our University’s sixth president Dr. 2015-2016 OFFICERS Julio Frenk. The future of our University of Miami looks promising. We remain ranked among the top 50 universities in the country at 48th. We have successfully completed the Momentum 2 campaign, a year ahead of schedule. We thank those who donated and encourage all to continue to support our university. Anna M. Bona This past semester, we welcomed the Spring 2015 tapping class. This year’s Homecoming festivities include the traditional favorites, such as the parade, boat burning with fireworks, and Alumni Avenue. Make sure and plan ahead Medicine Man so that you can join other Tribe members as Iron Arrow leads the Homecoming Parade on Friday. The officers and I would like to wish you all a Happy New Year! We hope that 2013 is filled with adventures, success and happiness for you all. I would like to start off our next semester together with a quote from Walt Disney, “We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.” I hope that we will all be curious in 2013, and that this curiosity leads us each down a path of opportunity. For those that were unable to attend the fall semester events, this newsletter provides a great 2012-2013 OFFICERS summary of them all, including a list of the new initiates and their accomplishments.     Spring 2019 Newsletter A Message from the Chief Greetings Tribe Members! On behalf of the Officers, welcome to another semester at the University of Miami! This year, we have embarked on a coordinated effort to reengage and reinvigorate Iron Arrow’s relationship with the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida. In addition to attending American Indian Day Photo by J.C. Ridley (IA’02) on the Reservation in September as a symbolic gesture, we have also formalized this effort. In partnership with the Tribe, and with support from University administration, Iron Arrow signed a Memorandum of Understanding between all three parties, reinforcing our partnership for the 2018-2019 OFFICERS Miccosukee Tribe.     Fall 2019 Newsletter Iron Arrow® Honor Society THE HIGHEST HONOR ATTAINED AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI A Message from the Chief Members of the Tribe, I am both honored and elated to serve as your Chief for the 2019 - 2020 term. I am even more excited to be a part of such a diverse group of Officers of whom are all people of color; two being women, and one a member of the the LGBTQ+ community. This fatefully happens to occur at the same time the University of Miami inaugurates a new Chair of the Board of Trustees, Hilarie Bass, whose background is law, but passion is equality for all. She is the President and Founder of the Bass Institute for Diversity and Inclusion, with a particular focus on the issues surrounding diversity and inclusion of women in senior positions the workplace.
