Trekenning Cottage is set back from a very quiet country lane in a peaceful yet readily accessible hamlet approximately 5 miles east of the north coastal resort and surfing mecca of Newquay, just a mile from , approximately 11 miles from the harbourside town of and about 15 miles from the capital and main administrative cathedral city of .

The rural area of North Cornwall is a desirable district of the county in which to live and is within convenient reach of London by air, with flights to London Gatwick from Newquay Airport at which is less than 5 minutes’ drive away from the cottage (flight time approximately 1 hour). There are good road links to the A39 Atlantic Highway together with the main A30 trunk route and there is a mainline railway station at nearby and of course Truro.

This part of Cornwall offers excellent recreational and leisure facilities, with surfing at Fistral Beach, Newquay, and its fine sea fishing to be had not only on the north coast but also with the excellent sailing waters on the south coast which is only a short drive away. Golf is widely available and in particular the famous St Enodoc Golf Club further up the coast and an excellent 18 hole golf course at Newquay and Perranporth amongst others. There are also excellent walks to enjoy in both the local countryside and also the north coast footpaths.
