We are delighted to have returned to the International Congress Center in Dresden - a state of the art conference centre located in the city’s old town on the bank of the River Elbe. Dresden is home to many high-tech companies in sectors including semiconductors and aerospace and is one of Germany’s foremost research locations - the ideal location for EuroBrake 2017. EuroBrake plays an important role within the industry and as we continue to see rapid progress in braking technology, our Technical Programme is crucial to those at the heart of the profession. Since it began in 2012, EuroBrake has grown significantly each year, and in 2016 we welcomed 1,100 international delegates from over 40 countries. This year’s conference offers a compelling agenda, with an increased focus on braking emissions – an important topic that generates significant discussion around the world. We welcome Franck Poisson from French rail operator SNCF to the Opening Ceremony, where he will speak about brake particle emissions in the rail sector. Our Panel discussion, ‘Brake Emissions – a Worldwide Challenge’, will raise some important issues and generate lively debate, while this year’s Strategy Panel will focus on ‘Advanced Modelling for Brake Squeal Prediction’. Last year’s Tutorial sessions were a valuable addition to EuroBrake’s programme so we are pleased to have organised two new Tutorials on Friday – ‘Raw Materials, Formulation and Processing’ and ‘Basics of Brakes and Brake NVH’. These will be of interest both to those new to the industry and also those wishing to update their knowledge and expertise. This year we are delighted to welcome the next generation of engineers into the EuroBrake community through our new ‘Student Opportunities Programme’. In addition to sponsored EuroBrake passes, this fantastic new initiative provides an exclusive lounge, where students will have a chance to network with experienced industry professionals and gain career advice in a relaxed setting – we are extremely grateful to our sponsors who have helped us launch this exciting new programme. We are delighted that you have joined us in Dresden, for what is sure to be an outstanding EuroBrake 2017.
