GENERAL OBJECTIVE: create a forum for joint reflection and co-operation in identifying and promoting innovation and best practice in the thematic area concerned SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE: educate pupils to social and sustainable economy that puts the environment at the heart of the future of all BACKGROUND: The town of Vigolo Vattaro in collaboration with the Comprehensive School, the library and the local community in 2008 initiated the Didactic Garden Project, aiming to bring the primary school children to domestic agriculture and a more sustainable approach to economy. The initiative has two main characteristics: firstly the cultivation of a small garden and then the establishment of a cooperative formed by the children themselves who is responsible for the financial management and organizational activities. ACTIVITIES: 1. sharing model already developed by Vigolo Vattaro – November '13 / February '14 2. testing of the model in all partner countries – March '14 / February '15 3. sharing of results and development of a common educational model and guidelines - March '15 / September '15 4. promoting experience among local communities, at national and European level – October '15 / June '16 5. management and evaluation – October '13 / September '16

VIGOLO VATTARO

Vigolo Vattaro is a small town, with about 2.500 inhabitants, situated in the North of , Euregio - Alto Adige - Sudtirol - Tirol. The economy is agriculture and handcraft based, there are a primary and a middle school, a library and a theatre, a yang centre with a hostel on building (it will be finished in 2013). The town has a long story, with evidence of humans since 1500 b.C. and a castle of the XIII century, and a wonderful natural landscape, typically Alpine. As municipality, Vigolo Vattaro carries out the usual activities of a local government authority: management and planning, provision of public services to citizens, to the local security and environmental control.

The administration is organized into five offices: secretarial-demographic services- economic activities; accounting; over-municipal tax collection office; engineering department and maintenance; social and cultural activities: coordination of services to the citizen as social, cultural, educational, welfare, health care. The municipality of Vigolo Vattaro manages many services, also at over-municipal level, in particular: LIBRARY SERVICE - Vigolo Vattaro has made available its library, with two reading-point in and Vattaro; TAX COLLECTION OFFICE - Vigolo Vattaro manages the collection service of local taxes of the mentioned municipalities; CHILDCARE SERVICES – kindergarden and nurseries are managed with a over- municipal service to better access and quality; YOUTH CENTER AND YOUTH SERVICES - Since 2006 the mentioned municipalities operate together through the “Area plan for youth” to program and manage projects and activities directed to young people. THEILHEIM

The community of Theilheim is part of the district of Würzburg in Franconia in Bavaria. The mayor is Hubert Henig (Independent Voters Community). Theilheim is located in a side valley of the river Main at about 230 m above sea level and covers approximately 10 square kilometers in area. End of 2011 2348 people lived in Theilheim. There is a kindergarten with about 100 children and a new renovated elementary school with six teachers and 137 students. There are five children's playgrounds, a large sports complex and a multi-purpose hall. The sports club has over 600 members, many inhabitants are organized 33 clubs and groups. Theilheim has a Catholic church and a community library. A practical home doctor and a dentist practice in Theilheim. 52 commercial and service establishments are working in Theilheim.
