ATAR 2019 Release Date Tuesday 17 December at 1pm – the same day as HSC results. This is so you will have all the information you need on the day to make your future study decisions and have more time to finalise your preferences for December Round 2 .

ATAR Enquiry Centre UAC is once again operating its ATAR Enquiry Centre for students who have queries about the calculation of their ATAR. • Tuesday 17 December, 12pm–8pm • Wednesday 18 December, 8.30am–4.30pm • Thursday 19 December, 8.30am–4.30pm • Friday 20 December, 8.30am–4.30pm

ATAR Notices Students Note: Download and print your ATAR Advice Notices when ATARs are released in December. You only have free access until February; after that you will be charged for a digital or printed copy.

Offer Rounds to Year 12s The most important offer rounds for Year 12 students are: • December Round 2 – Monday 23 December 2019 • January Round 1 – Friday 10 January 2020. Not all courses will be offered in December Round 2, and applicants should check UAC’s website for details of excluded courses before they finalise their course preferences. Students whose results are not available in time for December Round 2 can be assured that they will not be disadvantaged – universities will still have places available to make offers to all courses in January.

ATAT Q&A. What Next? January is just another month in the summer break for current tertiary students, but for recent school leavers it means one thing — university offers. If you’re one of the many students nervously waiting for offer day, check Q&A : https://www.gooduniversitiesguide.com.au/education-blogs/tertiary-study/atar-q-a-what-next

The ATAR is a rank, not a mark. The Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) is a number between 0.00 and 99.95 that indicates a student’s position relative to all the students in their age group (ie all 16 to 20 year olds in NSW). So, an ATAR of 80.00 means that you are 20 per cent from the top of your age group (not your Year 12 group). Universities use the ATAR to help them select students for their courses and admission to most tertiary courses is based on your selection rank (your ATAR + any applicable adjustments). Most universities also use other criteria when selecting students (eg personal statement, questionnaire, portfolio of work, audition, interview or test). VET Explained for Students Fee-free apprenticeships and financial support from the NSW Government Worried about the cost of training? Apprenticeships are now fee-free in NSW, and there’s a heap of VET traineeships and courses subsidised under the our Smart and Skilled program. If you’re eligible, you only pay part of your training costs – we pay the rest. Graduating with little to no debt means more freedom and more opportunity. The qualifications covered aren’t random, either. They’ve been chosen because there’s currently a lack of skilled people in those industry areas – meaning better odds for getting a job after you graduate. https://vet.nsw.gov.au/student
