Offer Rounds to Year 12s The most important offer rounds for Year 12 students are: • December Round 2 – Monday 23 December 2019 • January Round 1 – Friday 10 January 2020. Not all courses will be offered in December Round 2, and applicants should check UAC’s website for details of excluded courses before they finalise their course preferences. Students whose results are not available in time for December Round 2 can be assured that they will not be disadvantaged – universities will still have places available to make offers to all courses in January. ATAT Q&A. What Next? January is just another month in the summer break for current tertiary students, but for recent school leavers it means one thing — university offers. If you’re one of the many students nervously waiting for offer day, check Q&A : https://www.gooduniversitiesguide.com.au/education-blogs/tertiary-study/atar-q-a-what-next The ATAR is a rank, not a mark. The Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) is a number between 0.00 and 99.95 that indicates a student’s position relative to all the students in their age group (ie all 16 to 20 year olds in NSW). So, an ATAR of 80.00 means that you are 20 per cent from the top of your age group (not your Year 12 group). Universities use the ATAR to help them select students for their courses and admission to most tertiary courses is based on your selection rank (your ATAR + any applicable adjustments). Most universities also use other criteria when selecting students (eg personal statement, questionnaire, portfolio of work, audition, interview or test). Entry into the Bachelor of Performance and Theatre (Acting)* is based on a combination of both academic results and audition. Due to the practical nature of this course, all applicants are required to audition to demonstrate their talent and potential to excel in this field. The School of Arts, English and Media’s Bachelor of Performance and Theatre (Acting) is a dynamic course producing industry ready graduates. Wollongong and its surrounding regions are well known for producing hard working, original artists, who contribute to the thriving local scene as well as having national and international reach. https://www.uow.edu.au/law-humanities-the-arts/schools-entities/taem/courses-study-options/auditions/ UOW - 2019 History Extension Study Day Wednesday 13 November. 8.45am – 9.00am (Registration) | 9.00am - 2.15pm University of Wollongong, Building 20 Foyer Get a head start on your exams for history with UOW’s History extension seminars. It is an important part of the Western Sydney University School of Law curriculum, providing students the opportunity to develop skills in advocacy in real courtroom settings. Register your team now by sending your expression of interest to Rita Mifsud, Professional/Project Officer, School of Law. [email protected] https://www.westernsydney.edu.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0007/1490965/Kirby_Cup_Flyer_2019.pdf Record investment in STEMM by the University of Newcastle The University of Newcastle has recently unveiled plans for a flagship facility at its Callaghan campus, heralded as its largest infrastructure spend to date. The $200 million investment by the University, due to open in 2023, is part of the University’s STEMM precinct program. It will integrate the study areas of science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine (STEMM), with a unique design that blurs typical boundaries between education and research. Visit www.newcastle.edu.au/stemm to see the changes that are coming soon to the Callaghan campus.
