By Sophie Fitzgerald The curtains will rise early this month as the Scone Community Amateur Dramatic Society (otherwise known as SCADS) prepare for the commencement of its 118th prestigious production which will launch itself during the Scone and Upper Hunter Horse Festival. Simon William’s comedy, ‘Nobody’s Perfect’ will be performed at Scone’s ‘Old Court Theatre’ in Kingdon Street with the cast of five having worked tirelessly under the leadership of director Gillie Hayes in rehearsal and preparation for the show. Gillie had first performed for SCADS in 1962 when Scone’s Courthouse was first converted into the impressive theatre, which has recently been undertaken by the Upper Hunter Shire Council to assist in restoration. The first production saw NBN’s cameras capturing the historical moment as Gillie played the leading role in ‘Bold Lover’, and since then, she has continued to be actively involved as a performer and director. ‘Nobody’s Perfect’ is a delightful comedy about a statistician who wants to become a writer and resorts to subterfuge to have his novel published by a feminist publishing house. Living in the same house as his teenage daughter and ‘out there’ father creates some humorous situations. The local on-stage cast consists of Damien Saunders, Nicole Wild, Liza White, Phil Charley and Michael Cook with a backstage crew of four. The ten performances will consist of one matinee show on 19 May and the remaining performances on the 11, 15, 16, 23, 24, 25, 30, 31 May with the finale being held 1 June. So whether you are a theatre connoisseur or comedy enthusiast, make sure you head to the office of Kate Mailer Solicitor in Liverpool Street, Scone to purchase
