Universities: University of Co-op Program The UNSW Co-op Program offers industry linked scholarships and placements to high achieving students in the fields of Business, Science, Engineering and the Built Environment. Students who gain a place in the Program gain industry experience with leading employers, leadership and professional development training, networking opportunities, support throughout their degree and a scholarship valued between $67,000 and $83,750. Scholarships/Cadetships: 2013 JMC Academy Undergraduate Scholarship Applications close December 7. JMC Academy offers a total of 18 scholarships each academic year consisting of six scholarships each in Sydney Brisbane and Melbourne. Undergraduate scholarships cover tuition fees for the first year of the degree. Bedford College Scholarship Two scholarships are available for the 2013 academic year, one each in the Diploma of Business and the Diploma of Children's Services. These scholarships cover half of the tuition cost for the 40 week diploma course. Scholarships are available to 2012 school leavers and are awarded on academic merit determined by an exam followed by an interview. Apprenticeships with Trivett Applications close 16th September. Trivett, one of Australia’s largest prestige automotive groups, are offering apprenticeships in Automotive Mechanical Technology (Specialising in Light Vehicle), (Specialising in Motorcycle), and Automotive Sales (Specialising in Parts Interpreting). The apprenticeships are located across Trivett’s , Blacktown, Alexandria and Rydalmere locations. Student Programs/Workshops: University of Wollongong Women in Engineering Summit 7th – 11th January. Applications close 31st August. At this summit women can learn about career opportunities in the engineering industry, see world-class engineering facilities at UOW and visit local industry sites. The School for Excellence HSC Programs The School for Excellence provides a range of HSC assistance programs which are designed to maximise HSC exam scores. All programs are held at the University of Sydney’s Camperdown Campus. The Essential Exam Revision program provides a range of workshops on a variety of subjects which aim to provide subject-focused support. Held between 23rd to 29th September. Pilot Aptitude Training Systems Courses Pilot Aptitude Training Systems (PATS) offers a variety of courses that aim to boost selection chances and aptitude test performance for candidates looking to take part in a Pilot Cadetship, ADF & ADFA, Fire Services role or Paramedic Services role. Pilot Cadetships are available with Virgin, Jetstar, Cathay Pacific and others and offer a training salary of up to $50,000. Cultural Care Au Pair Information Sessions With Cultural Care Au Pair people will have the unique opportunity to become part of an American host family and help care for their children while experiencing life abroad. Australian Defence Force Army One Year Placements Following the termination of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) Gap Year Program due to the 2012/13 Federal Budget the ADF has offered a number of jobs requiring only a one year commitment. These jobs include administration clerk, air dispatcher, cargo specialist, cook, dental assistant, driver, finance clerk, groundcrewman mission support, military police, operator movement, preventive medicine and supply coordinator. http://www.defencejobs.gov.au/education/gapyear/

Competitions: Australian Defence Force Academy Education Award Presented annually to Year 12 students in recognition of leadership potential, and academic and sporting achievements exhibited during Year 11. The award comprises of a laptop computer and certificate for you, along with a plaque of recognition for your school. There are up to 100 awards available on behalf of the Navy, Army and Air Force which will be presented to suitable applicants who have applied for entry to ADFA. You need to submit an application prior to 28 February in the year you undertake Year 12. Get Ya Head Right – Film Competition For Young People Film competition aimed at harnessing the natural talent of Australia’s young people to assist in maintaining the mental health and wellbeing of their peers. The competition requires the generation of short films suitable for digital propagation that deliver useful mental health and wellbeing messages. International Film School Sydney Future Filmmaker Competition Entries due by 13th October 2012. The International Film School Sydney (IFSS) is offering a full 2-year scholarship for the Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media as part of its Future Filmmaker Competition.
