And the beautiful, unique symbol welcoming residents and visitors to On Top of the World every day, is a reminder to everyone that our world is very special. Exactly 50 years ago, our Globe, at the front entrance, sat proudly in its gar- den for the first time. It has weathered storms, undergone improvements, received several fresh coats of paint, has been surrounded by hundreds of different flower schemes and most recently, witnessed a complete reno- vation of the entire garden area – includ- ing new fountains. But despite all the caretaking, one thing has been consistent, the Globe has been the icon for this community since 1966. “The Globe was a part of the entire story since day one,” said Kenneth Colen, current president, and son of Sidney Co- len, who dreamed up this entire world of his own. “The Globe was an anchor for the sculpture garden and an enduring legacy reminding visitors and residents that there is only one world, and we, in some small way, are part of it.” Sidney Colen never considered a dif- ferent centerpiece for the garden. Ken- neth said his dad wanted something mem- orable, something that would get noticed, something out of the ordinary, and he wanted to create a buzz. In accordance with the DuPage County Health Department a clean swimsuit is required to enter the water. c. Cutoffs, shorts, leotards, and underwear (bras, briefs, boxer shorts, etc.) cannot be used as a swimsuit and is determined at the discretion of the Pool Manager. d. A clean T-shirt is allowed in the water and is determined at the discretion of the Pool Manager. e. Swim Diaper: Infants and toddlers can enjoy the water if they are wearing a tight disposable swim diaper under their swimsuit. Please note: Disposable swim diapers are necessary for non-toilet trained patrons. f. Children under 10 years old must be accompanied by an adult during open swim 12-5:50p. g. Children under 14 years old must be accompanied by an adult during evening swim 6p-close. h. Lost or stolen season pool passes will be replaced for $10 for the first replacement. Thereafter, the full purchase price will be charged. i. A season pass used by persons other than to whom the pass was issued, will be confiscated and the person using the illegal pass will be charged the daily admission fee. j. Jefferson pool is a non-smoking facility. Persons may exit the pool to smoke 15 feet from the building entrance. k. NO loitering or smoking in the lobby, bathhouse, or property. l. The City reserves the right to inspect any and all bags, packages and/or items brought into the facility. 3. Pool hours are subject to change or close at any time at the discretion of the City. 4. The Pool may be cleared for a minimum of 30 minutes in the event of lighting or thunder. 5. No one is allowed in the pool complex unless there is lifeguard standing on guard on duty. 6. Children under 10 years of age must be supervised by a responsible person (18 years or older) at all times while in the facility. 7. Children under the age of 6 years old must also have a responsible person (18 years or older) within 5 ft of them in and out of the water at all times while in the facility. 8. Patrons requiring additional special accommodations are encouraged to inform the Pool Manager of their needs upon entering the facility. 9. Swim Suits are required! Users must wear a swim suit. Clothing such as shoes, socks, cutoffs, pants, basketball/mesh shorts, under garments and cotton shirts may not be worn in the pool. Rash guards or body gloves are acceptable. 10. Children still in diapers, and persons that are likely to be incontinent, are required to wear tightly fitted pants and a swim diaper while in the pool. All others must be accompanied by an adult in the water. • Maximum number of two young children per adult • Older siblings may not take younger children into deeper parts of pool • Personal flotation devices must be US Coast Guard Approved • Bathing suits must be worn in the pool • Swim diapers must be worn by children who are not potty trained The following are prohibited: • Diving, running, and pushing on deck and in the pool • Smoking, eating or drinking on the deck • Alcoholic beverages or banned substances • Strollers, chairs, bicycles, skateboards • Swimming during non-operating hours Any action deemed inappropriate by the facility supervisor will not be permitted in the pool area. Proper Pool Attire Please be advised that while swimming in our pools, patrons must wear proper pool attire. Bathing Suits and Swim Trunks All swimmers must wear bathing suits. T-shirts, mesh shorts, cut-off shorts or any other clothing not designed for swimming, are prohibited. All swimming trunks must have a liner. An exception may be made for those individuals who cannot wear bathing suits for religious reasons. In these instances, the individual may wear a full-body danskin suit (usually made of a Lycra material). Examples of this type of swimwear can be found below. T-shirts may NOT be worn over the suits.
