Viral Voice Keeping Positive Together Newsletter Edition 8: 28Th June 2020 [Final Edition] North Petherwin Parish Viral Voice Keeping positive together Newsletter Edition 8: 28th June 2020 [Final Edition] Hello everyone, welcome to the final edition of the Viral Voice. As you know, it was intended to provide a little extra entertainment and information during lockdown. I decided to keep it going a little longer but now seems to be an appropriate time to publish the final edition. I hope we will not be in the position of a second peak and another lockdown, but in the event that we are, I will consider reviving it for a short while. I hope you are keeping well? A dull, wet and windy day today but we have been blessed with some lovely weather of late. I’m sure the intermittent rain is saving everyone time watering their gardens and it is certainly helping the grass grow in the fields! As restrictions continue to ease, we hope that people will behave sensibly and in a manner that keeps the virus at bay. We keep our fingers crossed for a vaccine soon so that we can get back to normal. I’ve had a couple of things to include in this edition, one in particular is information regarding local Covid 19 testing. Also the answers to any quizzes are on the back page, so don’t scroll down too far to begin with! Stay safe while you are out and about, Best Wishes, Toni xxx Please Support Our Church St Paternus Church During this difficult time, with our church buildings throughout the country being closed for several weeks, we are still a church; meeting North Petherwin virtually for prayer services and fellowship, loving our neighbours by offering practical support to the vulnerable, and caring for our communities.!A major source of our Parish Church income has been cut off by the closure of our church building, with offerings during services and voluntary donations at other times within the church building having ceased for several weeks, thereby making it difficult to play our part in fulfilling these needs. With the help of the Church of England `A Church Near You` team we have been able to set up a means of donating online to our church. This is straightforward and secure and donations can be made by visiting the St Paternus listing on the following website: Do you have a prayer www.achurchnearyou.com C for someone in need? Simply follow the search links to The Church of St Paternus, North Petherwin and click on the arrow in the purple inset on the landing Visit www.achurchnearyou.com page, headed Please Support Our Church. Donations large or small are and follow the links to welcome.!Thank you and God be with you. We see ourselves as part of a story of the grace of God, made manifest in Cornwall, which stretches back many hundreds of years, possibly to the very earliest days of the Christian faith. It’s a story that calls us on into the future too, in loving mission, ministry and service. As we follow ‘The Saints Way’ we will be deeply committed to Christ and to all that he calls us to be and to do; and to Cornwall, this very special place with its own particular culture, history and identity. We can only follow that Way faithfully if we see it as our corporate calling, as the body of Christ. So we encourage ministers of the gospel to come and join us here who are committed to setting the whole people of God free in their God-given calling, to make Christ known here in Cornwall, today. So we seek clergy of missional imagination and heart; those with a pastoral passion for people and communities and their flourishing.

  • Launceston-And-Districts-Fallen-From-Both-World-Wars..Pdf
This is not a complete record of all those that fell during the two wars, with some of the fallen having no information available whatsoever. However there are 222 names from within the district that I have been able to provide a narrative for and this booklet hopefully will provide a lasting memory for future generations to view and understand the lives behind the names on the various memorials around Launceston. It has not been easy piecing together the fragments of information particularly from the first world war where many records were destroyed in the blitz of the second world war, but there are many resources now available that do make the research a little easier. Hopefully over time the information that is lack- ing in making this a complete story will be discovered and I can bring all the re- cords up to date. Of course there have been many people that have helped and I would like to thank Peter Bailey, Claudine Malaquin, Dennis Middleton, Jim Edwards, Martin Kel- land, Grant Lethbridge Morris and Michael Willis for their invaluable help in compiling this homage plus the resources that are freely available at Launceston Library. My hope is that the people will find this a fascinating story to all these souls that bravely gave their lives in the service of their country and that when we come to remember them at the various remembrance services, we will actually know who they were. Roger Pyke 28th of October 2014. Launceston’s Fallen from World War One William Henry ADAMS William was born in 1886 at 14 Hillpark Cottages, Launceston to Richard and Jane Adams.
