The bike-a-thon began last Thursday. The residents involved took turns bicycling around campus, but on the last lap they joined in together, along wifh some joggers, according to Jefferson resident Liz Westberry. "We had to brave some rough weather, especially two days of rain, but we never even missed an hour. Everyone did their part," Westberry said. Westberry said they exceeded their goal, which was last year's total of $2300. She said most area merchants and students were generous in their pledges. The Jefferson residents are hoping to eventually make the bike-a-thon campus-wide, since other dorms have also expressed interest.
