Tops and dresses gently caress the figure with flowing fabrics. Wide-cut, cropped trousers – so-called culottes – and tight shorts are just as suitable for summer as wrap skirts in mini or midi. This season’s fashion favourite is the jumpsuit, which already caused a sensation back in the 70s and 80s. Even if black is still playing an important role, this season will be mainly defined by light and pastel colours. On-trend colours are white and white-similar colours, pink and champagne tones, light blue, mint, apricot and beige and nude. The shoe fashions are also picking up on these laid-back and relaxed trends. Above all, shoes will become flatter and forgo the use of elaborate appliqués – crystals and small stones at the most will be making an appearance on flat sandalettes and sandals. Imrul Kayes Limon*, Muhammad Naimul Hasan Department of Leather Engineering, Khulna University of Engineering & Technology, Khulna-9203, BANGLADESH ABSTRACT The traditional footwear uses stitch or adhesive bond to fix the upper with the bottom part. But permanently fixation makes several problems in shoe maintenance. The objectives of this study were to develop a shoe construction method where style and aesthetic look of shoe can be easily changed and to provide better cleaning facilities inside of the shoe. In this study, one pair of derby and another pair of oxford shoe with removable upper were designed and developed. In this construction, strips of Velcro and snap buttons were used along the feather edge of the shoe to attach the upper and bottom firmly. The replacement of the upper was possible through this construction. Several tests like strength analysis, wear trial and material consumption were carried out to ensure good functionality, comfort and efficient material consumption of the developed footwear. The average breaking load of the join along the lasting edge of the shoe was found to be 106 N by ASTM D 1683 method that was higher than the value of the control sample. Material consumption of derby shoe upper was compared by 00 of Russ and Small method (RSM) where the developed construction method consumed almost 125cm2 more leather compared to the conventional cemented method. But the material consumption reduces comparatively by using more replaceable uppers on the same bottom.
