BIBLIOGRAPHY .......................................................................................................... 82 vi Abstract Technology has transformed the world, especially the business market; it is the cause of disruption for many industries that had to adapt to this new generation and develop new ways of doing business and expanding their knowledge. As a consequence, a new internationalization theory was developed to explain companies’ behaviors related with international commerce: the born-global model. Born- globals are companies that direct their sells to the international market right from the start, they do not focus in a single market and do not follow a step-by-step internationalization. This model is normally used by small and medium companies that do not have many resources and therefore opt by using the internet as their most valuable resource to reach their target market. The present case study reflects a Portuguese successful case of born-global: the shoes brand Josefinas, founded in 2011. Filipa Júlio was inspired by her grandmother Josefina, the person who took her to ballet classes when she was little and made her life an adventure. Since the beginning the brand opted for selling its products exclusively online as it does not require a great amount of investment and has the advantage to have a constant feedback of what customers want. This case will, therefore, focus on the critical success factors of Josefinas, the analysis of how the brand is integrated in the luxury footwear industry, how the characteristics of a team contribute to the success of a brand and, finally, how technology impacts this type of companies.     Shoe Fashion Trends S/S 2015 Lightness and sophisticated chic in light tones Airy, light and casual are three words to describe the fashion of spring and summer 2015. Tops and dresses gently caress the figure with flowing fabrics. Wide-cut, cropped trousers – so-called culottes – and tight shorts are just as suitable for summer as wrap skirts in mini or midi. This season’s fashion favourite is the jumpsuit, which already caused a sensation back in the 70s and 80s. The semiotic sign which creates image is studied in the article. The main idea is that forming and functioning of fashionspeak is based on linguistic theories. The author proves that fashionspeak holds symbolism having the capacity to express one’s unique style, identity, profession, social status, and gender or group affiliation. The author leads the idea that the connection between the text and fashion should be sought in the decoding of linguistic signs that creates differences between a male and a female fashion. The male fashionspeak is represented by using the words of the semantic field “strength” while the semantic field of female fashionspeak is “beauty”. Hence, men’s image is verbalized by the Nouns “strength”, “power”, “confidence”, “reliability” etc. while women’s image is verbalized by “pretty”, “beautiful”, “attractive”, “awesome”, “lovely”, “gorgeous”, “glamorous”, “sexy”, “chic”, etc. The author emphasizes that DRESS CODE concept does not include only “clothes” but also some external attributes of culture such accessories, perfumes, lifestyle, hairstyles, and so on. The axiological meaning in men’s and women’s DRESS CODE can easily increase an individual’s self- significance by portraying the desirable values in accordance with their lifestyle.
