Devon County Council (Landkey Road Area, Barnstaple) (Speed Limits) Order

Devon County Council make this order in exercise of powers under sections 82, 83, 84 & schedule 9 of part IV of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 194 (‘Act’) & all other enabling powers

1 This order comes into force and may be cited as “Devon County Council (Landkey Road Area, Barnstaple) (Speed Limits) Order “

2 No person shall drive a motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 30 miles per hour in the lengths of road specified in schedule 1

3 The lengths of road in schedule 2 are restricted roads for the purpose of section 81 of the Act

4 No person shall drive a motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 40 miles per hour in the length of road specified in schedule 3

5 The County of Devon (Various Roads, Landkey) (30mph & 40mph Speed Limits) Order 2003 is revoked as far as it relates to the length of the C783 in schedule 1

6 No speed limit imposed by this order applies to vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011

Schedule 1 30mph Speed Limit Lengths of road in the parishes of Barnstaple and Bishop’s Tawton, District of North Devon

King’s Close for its entire length

Landkey Road from a point 18 metres west of its junction with Sandford Close to its intersection with the eastern property boundary of Two Hoots

Venn Road from its junction with Venn Cross in a northerly direction to a point 10 metres west of the boundary of Son Amar/Rattlebrook

Windy Ash Hill from its junction with Deer Park Road/Venn Road in a southerly direction to a point 19 metres south of the boundary of Cross Park/Ringwood

Schedule 2 Restricted Road Lengths of road in the parishes of Barnstaple and Bishop’s Tawton, District of North Devon

Deer Park Road from its junction with Landkey Road in a south-westerly then south-easterly direction to a point 175 metres south-east of its junction with Windy Ash Hill

Landkey Road from the extended eastern property boundary of Two Hoots in a westerly direction to a point 75 metres north-west of its junction with Deer Park Road

Sandford Close for its entire length

Venn Road from its junction with Deer Park Road/Windy Ash Hill in a south-easterly direction to a point 10 metres west of the boundary of Son Amar/Rattlebrook

Schedule 3 40mph Speed Limit Length of road in the parishes of Bishop’s Tawton and Landkey, district of North Devon

Landkey Road from a point 18 metres west of its junction with Sandford Close in an easterly direction to a point 210 metres west of its junction with Blakes Hill Road.
