Arrival in Phnom Penh and transfer to your hotel. Your first meeting with Cambodia takes place in one of the most colorful markets in Phnom Penh, where smells of grilled fresh fish and fried rice mix with the hustle and bustle of vendors, carriers and customers. Very little frequented by tourists, this market offers a maze of impressive and curious stalls. After this your tour continues to Wat Phnom, the origin of the city, the French Quarter, Sisowath Quay. Lunch in front of the Tonle Sap River. In the afternoon, visit the Museum of Fine Arts and visit some authentic neighborhoods by cyclo taxi. Dinner and overnight at boutique hotel. Day 2: Phnom Penh. Breakfast at the hotel. Discovery of the Royal Palace and the Silver Pagoda. You will also visit the Genocide Museum, a former high school converted into a prison in Phnom Penh by the Khmer Rouge. This visit to the heart of Phnom Penh will help you understand the trauma experienced by the Cambodian population during the Pol Pot regime. Lunch in an NGO restaurant. Late afternoon free. In the evening, you will attend a traditional shadow puppets show, « Sbek Thom, Dinner in town. Overnight at boutique hotel. Day 3: Phnom Penh-Tonle Bati- Phnom Chisor- Takeo Breakfast at the hotel. Morning departure for Takeo. Along the way you will stop at TonleBati, where you can visit the Ta Phrom, a small temple from the tenth century, near a beautiful lake. You will then head to Phnom Chisor an Angkorian temple on top of a hill reached by a staircase of 412 steps. Lunch in local restaurant. Check- in at your guesthouse in Takeo. Dinner and overnight in guesthouse. Day 4 – Takeo- Kep Breakfast at the hotel. The day will begin with a short 30 minutes boat cruise through rice fields and lush greenery. Total immersion in rural life! You will go to the temples of Angkor Borei and Phnom Da, two pre- Angkorian sites and a small museum of archeology. Lunch on site in Takeo. Then departure to Kep. Dinner and overnight at your resort bungalow in Kep. This small island has a beautiful green setting, palm trees and beautiful beaches. You can enjoy the nature and swim in the clear warm waters. The menu for lunch: grilled fish or green pepper crabs! Dinner and overnight in your resort bungalow in Kep. Day 6 – Kep- Kampot Breakfast at the hotel. Morning departure for Kampot, a peaceful coastal town. City tour and visit to the Farmlink project: factory cleaning, sorting, grading and packaging of raw pepper, created to help local producers sell their pepper internationally. Check-in at your guesthouse. Lunch in town. Afternoon swimming in the river.Boat ride in the evening to watch the fireflies. Dinner on the riverside. Overnight in riverside bungalow in Kampot. Day 7 - Kampot-Phnom Penh Breakfast at the hotel. Free morning in your guesthouse. Late morning to visit the caves of Phnom Chnork on the way back to Phnom Penh. Visit to the caves and picnic there. Back to Phnom Penh. Free evening. Overnight in boutique hotel. Day 8 - Phnom Penh Early morning you will go and visit a local NGO, located in the outskirts of the city, near the former city rubbish dump, and supporting more than 5,000 disadvantaged children. “PSE started in 1995, on the day we saw children eating in the filth of the dump-site in Stung Meanchey in Phnom-Penh in Cambodia. It was appalling. Having seen that, it was not possible to continue to live normally. Something had to be done. First we started to bring meals to the garbage dump, but very soon we realized that the situation went beyond our forces and resources. We returned to France to alarm our families, friends, and everyone we knew. To tell them what we had discovered, and thanks to their overwhelming mobilization we were able to return to Cambodia and create "Pour un Sourire d'Enfant" (For A Child's Smile).” (Extract from their website) Lunch in town. In the afternoon, you will attend a fun and entertaining course designed by a dynamic Cambodian team. Through the use of interactive methods, and the use of visual aids, Cambodian teachers will teach you about Khmer tradition, culture and many other facets of Cambodian life. This session is run exclusively in Khmer. Don’t worry, you will understand everything that is going on, even if you don't understand or speak a word of Khmer! Free evening. Early departure towards Battambang. Check-in and lunch at your hotel. In the late afternoon, you will meet young Cambodians studying drawing, painting, music, theater and circus at the PHARE association, founded in 1992. Come and admire their exhibited works and attend the circus that showcases these talented artists. You will be amazed by the energy and humor of the show. An entertaining and fun afternoon! Dinner and overnight in your resort bungalow in Battambang. Day 10: Battambang Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning you will discover small local businesses in Battambang who start their work early in the morning. Meet the cigarette rolling machine, rice cake manufacturers, cake bakers, bamboo incense sticks producers, and workers employed in the preparation of Pra Hoc (fermented fish). On the way you will stop and visit one of the oldest pagodas in Battambang. Lunch in town. In the afternoon, climb aboard the bamboo train! The train is driving on the old railway line built by the French and is in fact a bamboo platform on wheels. An unusual and fun experience that takes you through the rice fields and lush green province. Before nightfall, come visit the Sampov hill temple and caves. Dinner in town. Overnight in your resort bungalow in Battambang. Day 11 – Battambang- Siemreap Breakfast at the hotel. We invite you to join a slow boat cruise on the river Sangker traveling to Siem Reap. Lunch on the boat. In the evening, check into your hotel in Siem Reap. Dinner in town. Overnight in Siem Reap boutique hotel. Day 12 - Siem Reap Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, discover the temples of Bayon, Baphuon, the Terrace of the Leper King, the former Royal Palace and the Terrace of the Elephants. In the afternoon, take the time to visit the famous Angkor Wat temple and watch the sunset over Angkor from Mount Bakeng. Dinner in town. Overnight at boutique hotel. Day 13 - Siem Reap After breakfast, 20 km northeast of Angkor (1 hour drive from Siem Reap) visit to the temple of BanteaySrei, the "City of Women". With its fine carved pink sandstone, a jewel of Khmer art. From here we continue to visit KbalSplean and the river of "the Thousand Lingas', in the heart of the Cambodian forest (1:15 min walk to /). A picnic lunch will be prepared on arrival. During the second part of the day, you will reach the impressive Ta Prohm temple, overgrown by jungle and the roots of the banyan tree. Possibility to see other temples depending on the remaining time. Return to the hotel. Dinner at the Night Market and Apsara show. Overnight at boutique hotel. In the morning, don’t miss a visit to Angkor Silk Farm where you will observe how silk is made from growing the mulberry trees to nurturing the worms and weaving the silk. For lunch, you will go to the West Baray Lake to enjoy local meal in the lovely huts on the lake front. Back to hotel. Free evening. Overnight at boutique hotel. Day 15 - Siem Reap- Kompong Cham Breakfast at the hotel. Leaving Siem Reap for Kompong Cham, "Gate to the Cham" city an authentic small Cambodian city.Check-in and lunch in your guesthouse on the Mekong River. In the late afternoon, 2 km from the city, hike to two hills: the hill of men (Phnom Pros) and the hill of the woman ( Phnom Srey), overlooking the entire area of Kompong Cham. Free evening. Overnight in Khmer style hotel. Day 16 - Kompong Cham Breakfast at the hotel. Departure from Kompong Cham to visit a rubber plantation and visit a weaving village. Lunch on the island of Koh Paen and relax! This medium-sized island is connected to the West bank of the Mekong by a bamboo bridge which is built every dry season. In wet season the bridge disappears under the water and the island is only reachable by boat. Then visit Wat Maha Leap (wooden pagoda), and Wat Hanchey.
