Last week was a truly busy but wonderful week for me and the quilting world with the Induction of Mimi Dietrich into The Quilters Hall of Fame! She is delightful and one of the great things about Induction Week is that you get to meet the family of the Hon- oree. Mimi's husband Bob came and helped hang her quilts in Marie Webster House and the rest of her family came to help share in her Induction ceremony. We tease about the time we spend quilting, about the money we spend on quilting and we tease about not hav- ing time to cook or clean because of quilting, but we quilt not just for ourselves but for those same supportive families who sleep under our quilts, hang our quilts on their walls and wait for the next quilt that we get done hoping it has been made just for them! So here is to our families for making it possible for us to do the thing we love the most!! Proud to serve as Leader of the Pack, Sherry What’s Happening Tonight? APPLESEEDS APPLESEED QUILTERS GUILD PO BOX 10484 FORT WAYNE, INDIANA 46852-0484 JULY 2012 Visit our website at www.appleseedquiltersguild.com VOLUME 20:2 Email us at [email protected] JULY MEETING Tuesday, July 3 Happy Hour 6:30pm; Meeting 7pm Classic Café Event Center 4832 Hillegas Road July Program : Kathy Doran and the “Bees” Donna’s Threads of Color I’ve been looking forward to writing my first article as President for the guild newsletter. I had a lot of thoughts I wanted to share, but fate stepped in and changed my plans. That article will have to wait for a later date. I have always known my quilting friends were more than friends – they are more like sisters. My accident brought that home more than anything else ever could. So many of my quilting “sisters” came forward and helped me in more ways than you can imagine. The quilts I planned to enter in our show will now be there because one “sister” completed the binding and sleeves on two of them. Another “sister” picked them up from my house and will deliver them to the coliseum. One is taking care of my garden while several others have brought flowers from their gardens. I have received cookies to share with the staff; a very special lap quilt to keep me warm; along with many phone calls, visits, cards, and prayers which brightened every day. I send a special THANK YOU to Linda Mulpagano for taking over my duties and doing them so well. I have heard from many “sisters” that everything is going smoothly for the quilt show and we have met our goal of 300 quilts for display.
